Which one of these issues do you think is causing your wet frizz? Here’s what to do ⤵️ 1️⃣ Buildup Clarifying on a regular basis is important to “reset” curls. If you have product buildup, use a clarifying shampoo. If you have hard water in your home (a large majority of people do), those minerals can buildup on your hair and cannot be removed with regular shampoos. Hard water buildup requires a special type of clarifying shampoo called a “chelating” shampoo. My favorites: - Malibu C Un-do Goo: amzn.to/3Om242D - Olaplex Nº.4C Bond Maintenance Shampoo: amzn.to/3F5w0hv 2️⃣ Dryness If you’re not deep conditioning on a regular basis, your curls will likely become dry. Lack of moisture will cause wet frizz. Always deep condition after using a clarifying shampoo to restore moisture. My recommended masks are in my Amazon storefront: amzn.to/3C979H1 3️⃣ Tangles Tangles are on of the biggest culprits of wet frizz when you’re styling. Simply scrunching in some product doesn’t always cut it because there are often small tangles within your curl clumps like I showed here. Using a brush to style is the best way to smooth these tiny knots or rouge hairs out. I recommend the Tangle Teezer: amzn.to/3mMiFjV 4️⃣ Lack of hold If your gel or mousse doesn’t dry with a “cast” or that crunch, then it’s not strong enough hold. Hold is what keeps the curls defined and prevents frizz. Don’t be afraid of the crunch because you can scrunch it out once dried. If your gel is strong enough hold, your hair shouldn’t frizz up after scrunching it out. Favorite strong hold gels: - Ouidad ACC Stronger Hold Gel, 20% off with code GENAMARIE: bit.ly/3Q9XlkM - Curlsmith Soufflé, 10% off first order with code GENAMARIE10: tidd.ly/3PTRsbW - AG Liquid Effects, 20% off with code GENA20: bit.ly/3KZh044 - Kinky Curly Curling Custard: goto.target.com/Ygj0Qq - Dove Amplified Textures Shine & Moisture Finishing Gel: rstyle.me/+9ODw3eOBe66-shnqWLLiOg To hear even more causes of wet frizz, watch the full video on RUclips for my updated routine for taming wet frizz: ruclips.net/video/XDYSfJ1wGTs/видео.html
My hair needs a strong hold since my frizz is so bad but I can’t use a strong hold gel because it weighs my hair down and it becomes barely a wave and my ends are curls so it looks horrible
And porosity. If you have low porosity this can happen. You must completely soak your head in warm water under the shower until it all aborbs (which can be minutes) before washing so it shampoo can penetrate properly to remove build up. And also use heat during the deep conditioning and leave in stage
I agree with everything but the heat, you can use warmer water initially, but you want to end your shower with cold water to seal your pores and keep the hold strong. Heat on curly hair usually just adds more frizz.
For thin hair, mousses that form a cast are even better! I’m in love with not your mother’s curl mousse, been using it for years and when I use it right, it never lets me down
I thought I had a bunch of split ends because poofy hair… so I cut a lot. Haha but it seems it’s just not enough moisture or gel for my 3b hair. It’s so difficult to tell if it’s too much moisture or protein, or if it’s split ends and damage, or because im not often using gel. I can’t win 🤷♀️
I feel like my hair hate conditioner though. I use the 50/50 balancing clarifying shampoo then I used Lusbrands conditioner. I used curlsmiths protein feather light cream and briogeos protein gel. My hair is extreamly soft no cast formed and my hair is extreamly limp and frizzy. I know my hair loves protein but I have to use conditioner every now and then and when I do my hair looks horrible. When I dont my hair is hard to come and style but my curls look amazing. Any help would be sooo appreciated ❤❤
It was hard find someone with hair like mine I hacked it n was crying it's all different lengths it's dead from me colouring it black and straightening it hard everyday coz I hated it . Are you serious I think I have Curley hair 😮
I'm so confused what my hair type is. My hair's always frizzy. So obviously I tried a wavy/curly routine. It formed into 2a/2b waves, but after a day or so it went right back to straight. I tried a lot of different products so it vould hold up better, but nothing worked. The only thing I noticed is that my hair wasn't as frizzy when I did a wavy routine. I did notice that while I was trying different wavy routines and products my hair started to get damaged and started thinning. So I went back to straight routines and my hair is frizzy again. And I tried every tip people gave to stop frizz, but nothing works. I just don't get it. I don't know what type my hair is. If you have any suggestions please tell me!
sounds like the story of my life 😅 I’m still on my own journey but a few things I’ve learned is 1. figure out your hair porosity and ONLY use products that suit your porosity (ex. I have low porosity and anything with lots of protein causes damage over time for me) 2. you need to refresh your waves by the second or third day if you “lose” them. you can rinse your hair with conditioner and re-style it or keep it dry and simply put it into a protective style like braids until your wash day. 3. make sure to cover your hair with silk / satin scarf or bonnet at night. 4. use hair oils that work for your porosity and oil ends lightly every day. 5. be generous with your heat protectant bc if you’re doing a wavy routine and diffusing you really need to protect your hair. I understand your struggle and I’m sorry it’s so frustrating, hopefully we both end up fully taming that frizz! edit: also wanted to add that if you’re constantly switching products for different routines and getting damage you could be over stressing your hair. I highly suggest doing a bunch of research before buying new products and really look into what are damaging ingredients. absolutely nothing should have “fragrance” high-center of the ingredient list for example. curlscan is a huge help for sorting through products
my hair is severely matted and tangled at the roots in the shower no matter how much i detangle, no matter how much water or conditioner i use, no matter how much moisture or protein. i feel so defeated that i cried in the shower. ive only had two good wash days in the past 2 months and i have no idea what i did right bc it seemed to have been on accident. my hair sometimes takes forever to dry and sometimes dries in 5 minutes. i seriously debated shaving my head today
Hard water just means that the water has a high mineral content (soft means opposite-low mineral content)! Having lots of minerals in the water means that it can build up and coat your hair, often leaving it feeling waxy and dull, which makes it harder to cleanse and moisturize your hair. This is why you hear things such as “water softeners” being used. They basically strip away certain minerals, replace with better minerals, and allow your hair to be properly cleansed. Hope this helped!

I have 3c curls. Too frizzy even though I got a hair cut recently still they are again splitt head.
@@AshokPatil-kh2hn as well as on the scalp apply oil on the ends too. Select a suitable oil for curly hair. The ends need oil

I think another thing that helps (if it's hard or salty water), is rinsing your hair with bottled water (just the final rinse).

This was very helpful, thank you ❤❤
Wearing tight hairstyles like slick backs can also cause this. I had to learn that the hard way.
