I watch a LOT of cooking videos. What I really like about your video is that you are concise, have all your prepping done a head of time and to the point.
If you use heavy whipping cream instead of the half and half it is more of the consistency and taste of panera bread. Also the sharper the cheddar cheese, the better. You can also add a combination of cheeses to your soup. It's also easy to double the recipe or cut the recipe in 1/2 to suit your personal need.
Nice recipe, will try tonight :) And although no one asked, but for those who are unfamiliar with the American metric system, 4 cups = 1 quart = 1/4th gallon = 950ml. So this recipe uses an equal proportion of chicken broth and half&half.
Made this soup tonight for dinner, used onion powder in place of the onion, due to a dietary restriction. I also added about 2 cups more chicken broth then was called for. We had about 7 big bowls of soup from the recipe. Was very yummy and I made some homemade rolls to go with it. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
@@englishatheart wow, you're a special kind of internet troll. It needed more liquid because I had to use onion powder. Make the soup and you would see that. Until then don't troll on what maybe a helpful comment for others.
I've tried two RUclips recipes that were posted as "Panera" recipes. The first one I tried was a bust and tasted NOTHING like Panera... But this one, YES, WOW! This is the closest I think someone could get at home. Thank you MamaInTheKitchen
Just finished making this! I switched out the chicken broth for chicken stock And the half and half for heavy whipping cream! Soooooo good!! Thank you for sharing!!!
On the stove now! Last step is cheese. I really appreciate your video & format. I was able to follow along & do step by step without all the fluff. Perfect video timing on every ingredient added. Thank you! New sub
Wow! This is the only Panera copycat recipeI’ve tried with any success and this knocks it out of the park. Thanks so much. Everything about this was great - the presentation, the instruction, the end result. I’m really looking forward to your other videos.
Damn happy I read this comment! Diced potatoes in there sounds so darn good!. When do you add in the diced potatoes? Do you grill the diced potatoes first or just plain?
I made broccoli soup for the first time, using your recipe. It is truly a wonderful recipe. Thank your so much for sharing. My daughter said to make sure I keep this recipe!
Made this today because I was sick and was craving soup & Wow! It even tasted better than Panera with all the fresh ingredients. My family loved it too. Thank you for the recipe❤️
Hi, I'm making mines now. I used a combination of regular butter and garlic herbal butter with beef stock I had in the fridge. Oh my God, it's Delicious 😋 and I'm not even finished yet...lol loving it!
Made this soup today , so good 😊. If you are reading the comments to see if you should make this , you should definitely follow this recipe . Thanks for the recipe 💜
Just bought some of the soup from Panera and poured some over a baked potato with brocoli, topped it with bacon. It came out so good that I just needed to make the soup myself. 😁 Thank you for sharing. The one on your video looks so good.
Made this today and it came out delicious, I didn’t have butter ran out yesterday making homemade cornbread. Anyways I used bacon grease and used heavy whipping cream instead and came out super good thanks for sharing this recipe ❤
I followed your recipe but a few changes. Onions were cooked on low-med for 25 - 35 min, I used 2 blocks (8oz each) of Cracker Barrel Cheddar & 1 block CB White Cheddar, all shredded. The only seasoning I added was about 1/5 - 1/6 cup Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning. I also added slightly more flour for a creamier soup. Also shredded 1 more carrot than you required. The rest was the same and it came out great! Thank you! 😋
The only thing I did different since my husband doesn’t like onions was used minced onions for the flavor. Everything else, I followed right and exact. Thank you for posting!!! ♥️ my daughter LOVES it!!
You can freeze any soup that you make for up to 6 months. Some You may have to omit the potatoes or onion, but it really doesn't change the consistency or taste if you leave them in there.
This is my second time making this recipe. It's definitely 2nd best to Panera bread's cheddar broccoli soup. So yummy!! Thank you so much for sharing.🥰 The only thing I added extra is smoked paprika, because that's what Panera has in their list of ingredients.
I added a cup of almond milk, 2 cups chicken broth (from bouillion) and a half cup of Apothic white wine. Very delicious! I had a little left over, so today I am putting it over the Viola garlic chicken and pasta.
I used Better than Bullion vegan chicken Boullion because I’m a vegetarian. It was still really good. I always Ike to use fresh ground nutmeg in cheese dishes. It adds a depth of flavor that isn’t quite discernible. I was wondering how it would be to use non-dairy milk, butter (or olive oil) and cheese (Chao and Daiya make decent non-dairy cheese) I might try it for my lactose intolerant friends....
I just made this and the flavor was delicious but I think I added the cheese in too soon or the soup was too hot and it got a little grainy texture .. any tips ?
Made it 🙌 sooo... good 👍 I didn't have mild sharp. I had extra sharp white cheddar and Colby cheese mix it and it made the Extra sharp to a mild lol 😆 👌. Great Recipe

I like that she had e'thing prepped and ready and I didn't have to listen about her garden or dogs or kids. Just a great recipe demo,

Good info to know Thanks
How much less/more heavy whipping cream
Thank you because i tried to make this with half and half and it just wasn’t as smooth as i would like it
I read this comment before I made it, thank you so much, I just used 1 pint of heavy whipping cream and I'm loving this soup!
❤ thanks ❤ for the review! I only have whipping cream, and I'm so happy to read your comment.

I made this today but I didn’t have butter so I fried bacon and used the a little of the bacon grease for the butter. The soup was amazing.
I’m doing this even though I have enough butter! Lol
lmao this actually sounds brilliant! imma have to make it like that
I'm gonna make this just because of the bacon comment🤤
Imagine with some garlic toasted french baguettes

I made this soup tonight and it tasted so much like the Panera’s soup... thank you so very much for sharing your recipe ❤️
Thank you for sharing. I have been looking for Panera Bread broccoli soup and rarely can find in comments that soup tastes like panera’s
Literally I love Panera and this is like Panera but better and I know everything that’s in it. Thank you!!!!!!

I made this, and gave it to my parents. They say the soup tasted amazing. Both wants me to make this for next weeks Thanksgiving dinner. Thank you!
Thanksgiving was four months ago

My husband love this soup, this is happening at our house this weekend. Thank you for sharing your awesome recipe. From sunshine state Florida. 😋🥣🥄🥦🧀
Just bought some of the soup from Panera and poured some over a baked potato with brocoli, topped it with bacon. It came out so good that I just needed to make the soup myself. 😁 Thank you for sharing. The one on your video looks so good.
I’m making this right now. I’ve made this 4 other times. My family just loves this recipe ❤
Last week l made this soup & served it over mashed potatoes, my family loved it 😋
I moved to a place with no Panera or Chipotle. You're my hero.
20-25 minutes uncovered.

Great recipe ! But if i wanted to make a smaller bowl of this, how much less chicken broth, half and half, and flour would i use ?
People who want a smaller bowl of broccoli cheddar soup are aliens and should be treated as such 👽🛸
Thank you for your beautiful delicious recipe yum 😋
Yes yes yes! Was looking for a recipe that I can freeze. Thanks🙋♀️🦋💜

How long do I let it simmer for after adding the half n half?
This is a really good recipe that’s is vary helpful!!

How many servings does this make?

Perfecto. Thank you!!!
Can I use chicken stock instead ?
I just made this, but added less cheese. It’s delicious!!
Do I have to wait for it to cool before adding the cheese or can I add it immediately after turning off the heat?
Thank you! This video was very helpful, the soup came of sooo good. ❤️
I’m going to make a large got tomorrow. Thank you 😊
As a novice, do I cook it with the lid on?
cant wait to try this recipe!
Can i use heavy cream instead of half and half? And about how much? I only have cream in my fridge.
You can mix heavy creamy with milk equal parts
Looks delicious 😋
New to your RUclips channel. I would love to make this from scratch broccoli cheddar soup
Excellent!!!
is it ok if i use sharp cheddar instead ?
yes i did and came out great

Any time I try a roux with oil instead of butter, I end up with a grainy texture, I wouldn't recommend
Great presentation 👍🙏
After freezing will it be problematic to reheat? Because of the dairy?
Can i use heavy cream instead of half and half??
Yes you can mix heavy cream with milk instead of half and half :)
Could I use Sharp cheddar instead of Mild cheddar?
Good question. I love sharp
Yes, that is probably what Panera actually uses, or that is what I taste when I have had their soup, the milk tones the sharpness down either way.
I just made this and the flavor was delicious but I think I added the cheese in too soon or the soup was too hot and it got a little grainy texture .. any tips ?
When adding the cheese make sure the soup does not boil or simmer. The grainy texture is from the cheese getting to hot to quickly.
@@pleasureduma9693 thank you!
So good I made it
i come back to this video every time i make it and it’s been four years, tastes the closest to panera’s!!
My favorite soup from Panera

Can I skip the Cayenne pepper?
