@@ashleyshim2078 I was a teenage boy in NYC, and in the airports and train stations, the young Asian girls would approach you and invite you to a meeting or a juice bar. They did not use Moonie men for these invites. So, of course, a 1970’s American teenager might find a great attraction to a religion where Reverend Moon was mass marrying many young Asian women to young white men. I was friendly with many couples. His spirituality was deeply centered on the law of attraction, and marriage, and raising a family with God being the central focus, along with Mr. and Mrs. Moon being your new true parents. So, I can’t even say they were disingenuous, using Asian women out in the field. Once I took the bait, I did study very meticulously the religion put forth in the Moonie study centers. But, at breaks, there were plenty of lovely ladies to talk to. It kept me in the program for quite a while. The philosophy was good, and I enjoyed his Oriental twist on Christianity. But, for a healthy teenage boy, I did look forward to those breaks when I was surrounded by lovely Japanese and Korean young ladies.

@@angeloiodice9304 Yeah, but what if they marry you to someone that looks like Kim Jong Un?

    • @angeloiodice9304
      @angeloiodice9304 2 года назад

@@strnglhld Good point. Then you would see this chubby white boy, suddenly become an Olympic Gold Medal sprinter, and shoot at the front door with such one-pointed efficiency that the entire congregation would be mesmerized and think they just witnessed The Holy Ghost.
But, honestly speaking, back in the 70’s they were a fine group of traditional ladies in their prime, trim rice-eaters, gentle and lovely.
Maybe you are aware that Mr. Kim intentionally made himself blubbery by deviating far from a traditional healthy peasant diet of rice and vegetables and embracing rich meats, cheese, cognac and wine, so he would stand out amongst his flock as a sort of massive laughing Buddha god-like presence.
Back in the seventies, most Asians still followed a very disciplined diet and their energy and flexibility was often sublime, especially in their youthful years, and even into old age. For a young westerner like myself, the attraction to the stark difference between East and West was quite magnetic, enchanting, delightful and mesmerizing.
It was a fun time for me. To keep me in their flock, they showered me with attention. It was only when they suggested that I quit school and join the church and be directed into a career in farming or fishing or business, that I realized we were not on the same trajectory.
Until recently, when I retired and left the US, I still maintained contact with some members, 40 years later. Their lives turned out very well. Many children with high education and a very abundant life. They were good principled people. Although, unfortunately, some of Reverend Moon’s children did not abide by such humble living standards and principles, being raised in the limelight. But, that happens when a luxurious lifestyle is introduced, one deviates from the tried and proven pathway.

And he has a second wife. His teachings he didn’t perform. My parents just got into this cult couple years ago and it’s the most annoying shit ever. They’re planning to spend alot of money to build “churches”. Of course I dont wanna intervene since their cognitive bias is rough as hell. Yup, I grew up in the Moonies so have been made to be a part of these more or less "abduction" efforts, thinking I was helping people. Those of us born into the UC almost exclusively only see the Moonie-programmed version of our parents, and hardly get to know them beyond that because they were taught to abandon their lives without. The Moon family believes they are saving humanity by having people grafted onto their "pure" lineage, and away from their "sinful" biological families otherwise. It's a vicious cycle of being trafficked for $$ by means of heavy religious indoctrination in isolated environments, then getting locked into a system of codependence that demonizes individual empowerment as selfish.

I am glad I got to speak to him before he died last year as fre equals There was one who deserved to be happy and to have a free life iwithout lies or warped philosophies but that's not what Moon gave him . This is Rochelle by the way I remember hearing about a Todd who worked for Moons propaganda mouthpiece Washington Timed and his cute strawberry blonde freckly wife Michelle Is that you? .If so salute you in the spirit of freedom from lying Moon. I stopped him and asked him how long he was in Korea . He said he is from Romania and came to Korea as tourist visa . He said korean Moonies gave them place to stay for three months. But he must meet their obligations each day to bring money.
I asked him ,” Have you ever thought about your religion ? Any religion make you deceiving people in order to make money for your organization is from demon , not from God .”
He ran away from me .

This upload hits really close to home for me. My parents got married at one of the mass weddings in the Unification Church in Korea in the 80's. They didn't speak the same language when they got married and met each other only three days before the ceremony. I am a product of this religion. We left the church when I was 10. It took a really long time to adapt to normal life after we left. I still have childhood friends that are a part of it, or who are starting to leave the church now as adults after having grown up in it their whole lives. As I've gotten older it's been so interesting to hear what the rest of the world thinks of this religion. It's mind boggling to comprehend that my very existence is because of Sung Myung Moon. 🤷‍♀️

As a result the Moons money-pr machine totally .messed up my university education and life for a decade ..It was extreme , emotive, undue and unfair pressurisation . It was like that the whole way through .That in itself is evidence that there is a big difference between regular churches and cults though cults try to pretend that there isn't ...Breaking up families , derailing educations , emotional coercion and control and deception are standard cult ploys . There is NOTHING nice about that recruitment process or approach at all or the life .... Nice is as nice does. Moon did nothing for his followers that I saw in seven years except exploit them and drive them to the edge . This was while he was demanding more and more from them as well as imposing hypocritical standards of privation he did not adhere to himself .His children are spoiled, egoistic overgrown kids hooked on privilege and luxury . A good number of moon's babyfarm offspring have used recreational drugs bought from exploitation and slave driving of members. I do not think that has anything to do with being nice either.and as for an ideal family we are all supposed to follow ..hardly likely! Most married slaves who went on to read Nan Sook Hong's book " Under the shadow of the Moons got wise and got out. I owe Nan Sook Hong for the book UNDER THE SHADOW OF THE MOONS though we never met. It really helped my mental health . Before that I really didn't understand the depth to which Moon was a sicko till I read her substantiated testimony about what he and his family were actually like in reality. The moons money machinec caused me mental suffering and breakdown at one point because it was akin to slave driving. .They are nothing but disgusting for how they treated their members: inducing guilt and shame only to extort more money and exploitative labour. I hope the Japanese church members now bringing a case against them are successful!
.Moreover .I am pretty certain pikareum doesn't fit in with any Christian principle recorded in the bible and it's certainly an affront to women everywhere. Even common sense Science tells you Women couldn't give birth without a clean hygienic womb ..Women certainly don't need any of moon' s gross , phony, extraneous, pseudo- spiritual rubbish to help them become the natural, wonderful mothers they .are.born to be. Pretty obvious really and wish I had known about all that stuff much earlier but who did until years later ? It's ridiculous any of these Christian ministers in America are still supporting that feminist-hating gay-hating pikareum-practising overlord who would have treated all humanity like slaves if he could . Narcissist doesn't even cover it! On a lighter note I do have some creative ideas about just what that spendaholic Mrs Moon can do with her ill-,gotten store cards ..hahah! Nice ? My foot! Spending money gained By covering up pikareum, lies and exploitation so she could live off the rewards of other people's hard work .nothing but a slave driver! Getting ill like I did was awful for me at the time but I am much better now for sure; and I truly hope all you ex moonies are recovering and back with your families and friends too . I distinctly remember the "Moonies" from the 1970s when I was in college, a large public urban university in which it was very easy for individual students to feel lonely, lost and alienated. I was one of these, and for about a year the Moonies descended on the campus; they were able to detect students such as myself like a starving predatory animal detecting prey. They literally would not leave me alone; I had to run across the campus each day to my classes to avoid the Moonies trying to sign me up for whatever they were offering. These years later, I feel bad for those who students who were so lost that they fell for all the B.S. This was the same period of times as the Jonestown tragedy. Essentially the '70s and '80s seem to have been one cult after another, attracting desperately lonely and lost people of all backgrounds, all searching for something to fill their chasmic emptiness...

Thanks for talking about this and bringing awareness. Anyone can be a victim, they often prey on students, people in need and grieving people. My parents are part of that cult. They were part of 1982 mass wedding. They had met a few years prior from what I was told but weren't allowed to really be together even though they got married on paper 2 years prior. There was medium amount of language barrier too. Probably so my father could get a green card to stay in the county and then be labor trafficked. My mom was also labor trafficked, she had to sell flowers and sleep in a van with several other people. She also had to try to recruit people too. My parents are still in the cult and I doubt they will ever leave out of fear. And also because they invested too much time, effort and money. One of my brothers had a mass wedding in Korea by Moon and only met his wife 1 or 2 days prior I think. My 2 sisters and I left the cult when we were adults. However our parents still push their belief system on us. I believe my parents are narcs. My parents abandoned my second older brother at birth and illegally gave him away to a married couple that couldn't have children that were members of the cult. Members were heavily encouraged to do that so those other members could get into heaven. Because they believed you have to have children to go to heaven and it has to be done a specific way. They didn't let members adopt children in need from the regular world. I found out about my brother when I was almost 12 years old. That was the first time it really sunk in that my parents were crazy and that I needed to get out as soon possible and get away from this cult. I don't know when or how my brother who was given away found out. His adopted father sadly died when he was very young and his adopted mother left the cult not too long after. My parents freaked out and threatened to take him back from her. I didn't see him much after that and they ended up leaving the country. I didn't know at the time he was my brother. I wanted to reach out to him but didn't know how much he knew and I didn't even know if he knew he was adopted. I reached out to his adopted mom out of respect first but she never replied. He took an ancestry DNA test last year and he matched with my sister and I. I reached out to him and we talked like twice. I'm just glad he is okay and had a good life so far. Hopefully I will be able to meet him sometime even though we live in separate countries. We used to look a lot like each other and that means a lot to me because I don't really look like any of my other siblings. I always thought maybe I was adopted or something. We apparently have the similar maneurism too. He used to be extremely shy like me. Other than him I stopped all contact with my immediate family 3 years ago for my own well being and have been thriving ever since. Anyway back to the topic Moon is such a sick man, he allegedly raped women and children. He made all members that got married that came from the "outside world" do crazy sex rituals. He even had multiple buildings look like private parts. Several people confirmed that he even put his semen in some of the holy wine to "spread his seed". That really made me sick when I found out about that (nearly threw up) because they gave us a bit of that holy wine as babies. Babies are so innocent. I don't understand how someone can do that. Some members knew what was in the wine allegedly but hid it from us. Plus growing up every couple of years they would do like a forgiveness ceremony and give us the holy wine again even to us kids. They would have holy candy that they infused with a tiny bit of holy wine and would make us to everyone we could to try to get them closer to being saved. There are so many scandals and layers to this. I highly recommend the howwelldoyouknowyourmoon on Tumblr to find out more about the dark sides of this cult. There are several good podcasts as well done by people who grew up in the cult. One is called "The falling out podcast". I'm still working on healing from all my traumas and my self diagnosed C PTSD. Finding a safe space and a safe partner that would listen to me and validate my experience was crucial. I'm still coming to terms with things and feelings I repressed for years. But I am determined to put a stop to the cycle and change my family tree. I'm learning who I am and developing a personality. I'm also enjoying researching my family's history especially on my dad's side since I never met most of the family since we were part of the cult. Like even though most of them already passed away I feel like I'm gaining part of my identity in some way. My dream is to find my grandpa's grave and pay my respect. Because I've never been despite begging my dad as a teenager.

I'm really sorry this happened to you
your parents were victims of very strong mind control
plus they probably joined the cult because they had their own personality disorders in their twenties and couldn't cope with the real world so they escaped into the church
I hope you can heal and get a real sense of your own place in the world *decided by you and no-one else*
      I'm sure you can
After all everyone is trying to do that!
but of course it's harder for 2nd gen kids because of the insane start they had in life
I'm sure your parents brothers and sisters would welcome you as their family maybe try to reach out to them
maybe try to find support from other 2nd gen people who have left
I'm so impressed with you for leaving and turning away from your parents' craziness
that took a lot of guts and courage
I really respect you what you did was brave beyond belief
all the best to you I'm sure you will be ok as you get older and it goes into the past

Whenever we hear about the Moonies, we always just hear about those mass weddings, where they set up strangers from different countries, because of their belief that people from different countries and races should intermix as much as possible. But what else did the followers do, besides that? That's what no one ever talks about. Like, what did the couples do after they got married? How did they practice their religion in their day to day life, assuming they did grow to love each other and stayed together? What special rituals or weird child rearing practices did they do on a daily basis? There had to be more to it than just the mass weddings.

I was in the cult for about 6 months. The main thing everybody did was slave labor and "fundraising" which basically was going to shopping centers and claiming we were a group getting kids off drugs. I never moved in with them but did a lot of work on their big house fixing up a room where Moon was going to stay. It got boring and stupid so I left, not to mention I was able to read outside material about the cult. I was never told, for instance, that the second Messiah had gotten a divorce. It went downhill. My mom also called them in the middle of the night and made bomb threats just so they would leave me alone which I didn't know about until later. A couple months after ditching the "church" I ran into one of my old cult mates who couldn't understand why I decided to go on a trip to Florida while the "Messiah", whom they called Father, was trying to save the World. Guilt tripping and other emotional manipulation were common. There was only one kid at the center I went to and he was definitely a disturbed little boy.

My experience as a member for several years from 18 to 35 was that Moon indeed was charismatic as I heard him speak twice in Reading and London. 7 day and 21 day workshop was an educational experience with no detrimental aspects. Before I met Unification church I had a dream that I would meet someone the next day in Queen St. Cardiff who would answer all my questions on the New testament. I did and the Divine Principle teaching did answer all my questions within a 2 week period. This experience relates to the biblical verse of ' meeting the Lord in the air' One shall be taken and the other left ( my brother) I am afraid those Christians who believe in the rapture theory will be waiting another 100 years before it will be dismissed cos those prophecies have been fulfilled metaphorically and Christians erroneously believe in a supernatural Jesus who preexisted his birth , will save Christians by meeting them in the air during the'rapture'. I no of no other man who did so much to save humanity from itself, though acknowledging many failings in trying to do so. I do not doubt Moons honourable intentions as witnessed by many of his close followers and his loyal sons especially Hyung jin (Sean) Moon.

His troubling legacy remains in full effect to this day, very much alive and well in this country and other parts of the world. Many talented young people have been snatched up and ruined in the larger cities and states, especially around certain college campuses. Very hard to halt such cultic activities, as the Constitution grants freedom of speech allowing anyone to stand behind a pulpit and say whatever they want, while the victims of this cultic brainwashing remain long gone, damaged, and separated from friends and family often forever. Thanks for shedding light on a subject that continues to fly under the radar and sadly destroy people's identity as we speak.

hi guys idk if anyone will read this but i was born in this cult and i think i am the luckiest person ever. IMO, i feel like “cult” isnt the right word and i would refer to this group as a community or even my family. im not sure about other countries because i live like across the globe from the country mentioned in my video. but i would like to emphasise that every country has its own members and leaders. yes we belong to the same community and we believe in the same things, but our cultures, how we act, the norms in our countries etc they are all different!! so in my country its simpler. we just aim for world peace and to spread true love to everyone around us. we often have lectures to educate and reflect on ourselfves to improve our own characters. i definitely can say that we are still imperfect, but the way that everyone gathers to learn from each other with such a open heart really touches me. i learnt that some people in the community are less “traditional” in a way that they dont really follow the things that our leaders encourage us to do like praying, doing conditions etc. bcs they are more simple minded and they just simply want to be a good hearted person thats all. so my point is that every country is diff. so any event that happens in a country does not define the community as a whole. reading the experiences of other moonies in the comments made me feel really sad as im still considered quite young and i pity them for not having the same experience as me. the people in my community take care of me and genuinely love me. anyways the purpose of this comment is to tell yall that yes people might have bad experiences but others have good experiences too! so please dont base your opinion just off a few peoples feelings ☹️☹️

Rev Moon was a man who lived his life for the sake of others. He and his wife have been teaching people to put God first and to value their spouse and family above everything else. His vision was humankind living in the absence of war and crime, one family under God. No other dared to go there before him. He dreamed higher than anybody. For me this is bringing God's heart to humankind. "It's a big mess guys, but I believe in you, and I have a plan... Do you?... Join me and let's work on it." So looks like he could not sort it all out, Todd as fast as you would feel like he proved his point... It hurts to see somebody being teared apart again and again like that... I didn't get it for a long time. Why would people make up so much lies and distortion about him? Then I started to understand after having gone through the divorce court with a covert narcissist........... I know you don't have personal opinion, it was all said before you already, no blame or such.
Rev Moon used to encourage the world to care and to live for the sake of others, to love with sacrificial love. He emphasized to solve the conflicts by seeing each other through the loving heart of God, communicating and understanding and cherishing each other. Maybe many of us don't like how he did his ministry and mission, but just know, he did it with the same heart. Narcissists live for themselves and use others for their own individual gains.
I think it is actually quite hard to believe that somebody does things for some higher purpose, for God, for humankind or for Mother Earth, or for all that. We are used to expect and interpret others as misusing and taking advantage of us as it is many times the case sadly.
I appreciate Todd your calm voice and posed attitude.

Can you analyze the Netflix documentary Our Father about Dr. Donald Cline? As shattering as the events of the last few days (weeks, months, years) have been, I cannot get over the horror of this man's actions and how difficult it was to hold him accountable in any meaningful way. It reminds me of what you said in a video a few days ago about how some people are just presumed to be upstanding citizens, so they get away with way too much. Oh, and also, I am OBSESSED with the concept of someone committing murder, like all of the murders we see on ID, that is, abducting children, hitchhikers, etc. decades ago and only now being discovered through 23 and Me. Not all of these men have been career criminals. How can you live on this earth and function, and work, and marry, and raise children, and attend picnics, knowing that you killed and dumped a body and were never caught? That was an anathema to me as a feminist. I am glad I got out it made me ill and I am so grateful I recovered and got over a suicide attempt .I have a different life now. Respects to the late Ed Coffman who got out recently .so sad he died but I remember him as and think it so sad he was in the American movement four times as long as me and suffered for so long .RIP ed Coffman 👍 glad we both escaped the RIP-OFF MOONS Anyone else remember Ed . Moon had charisma as I was awestruck when I met him a few times in Reading and London. Obviously due to His many responsibilities that he took on , could not be involved in the minutiae of the businesses which he entrusted to others for day to day running. His legacy is linked to the blessing ceremonies which included interfaith ceremonies. It is the personal responsibility of the couple's to then live up to the God centred marriage vows. God centred marriage is the key to a God centred world of peace. He made more efforts than anyone else to achieve these goals. His son's Heung Jin and Kook Jin is are the two witnesses to uphold these goals and traditions that Moon did His best to realise in his life.

They had a Moonie joint in the central California town I grew up in. My dad would cuss profusely whenever we drove by it. Later, I looked into their enterprise, and I cuss as well. A bunch of kooks!
Btw, Koreans are very intense and cannot let go of any perceived slight or offense. We can thank Japan for that. I appreciate Koreans for their ability to consume alcohol, and they have a well earned corner of pop music. Luli Lee is very good.
May we find love and peace in a disturbed world.

A missed opportunity by Dr. Grande here was mentioning Mr Moon's photo collection of all the "left overs" from his wife/husband matching system, and how he had to cobble together marriages between the good, the bad, and the ugly, the long, the short and the tall, and the mismatch wedding photos it resulted in.
