This dude is awesome. Everything he points out is 100% on point. As a long time Rush fan, it's great to see someone else experiencing their music for the first time. ;o)
I have to believe that Geddy, Alex and Neil would love this guys videos and his appreciation of their music.
It's nice to see another side of the fandom spectrum who gets out of his usual comfort zone and interprets the music honestly to his audience. No Life Shaq is very true in his reactions and I can see why he has such a large audience. At first I was a little put off when I first watched one of his videos but if you stick with him, he's right on and he has a great sense of humor too.
Daniel Hogan you're exactly right bro I'm so thankful that I found him in my feed because I had subscribed to Lost in Vegas and those guys are really good too but Shaq is just pure gold bro pure gold. Pax. As in peace, in Latin
Daniel Hogan he is cool!!
I think there is an obvious reason you're surprised.
RUSH toured with KISS way back in the day and Rush said, "Those guys know how to talk to girls." and Kiss said, "Those guys know how to play their instruments."
🤪🙄🤣😂🤣😂
@@andrewpetik2034 I saw an interview with Gene Simmons about the tour and he said like, they would stop by Rush's dressing room asking them if they wanted to go get some groupies and they were reading books. LOL.
@@JColeComedian
That's great!!
@@JColeComedian I saw that too thats awesome
Yup, authentic
"I never thought in a million years, I'd be reactin' to instrument play..."
Welcome to the World of the absolute BEST 3 piece band on planet Earth. There is NO better guitar, bass, or drums...ANYWHERE, bro. These guy are NOT from earth. I and a million other guys have known this for 20 years.
@i must enter a name One of my friends recently got me into them and honestly didn't like them at first, but they rlly grew on me. My personal fav 3 piece band is Dying Fetus but they haven't always had 3 ppl.
40 years!
YYZ is the airport code for Pearson Toronto Ca airport. Neal said it was written because they always were glad to come home (to YYZ) the first drum part before the guitar and bass start is morse code Y Y Z -.- - -.- - - - ..
Yeah buddy!
@Delta Imaging
Thank you. I was trying to think which city the airport code belong to. I was stuck between T.O. and Montreal :-)
You are cracking me up!! Tears from my eyes!! Rush has been my favorite since 1978 and I love seeing people discover them! Keep it up
Dave Hooper first concert I ever saw. Liked it so much, they’re my concert record holder at 11.
Neil has passed and I can't believe how much it's effected me
walrus ....it’s devastating.
When I listen to rush now a flood of emotions engulf my spirit. The wonder and dreams will go on Thank you so much for the transcending experience
Appreciate him and his legacy will continue
Neil.
I know. Me too.
Brother take YYZ further in your mind and react to YYZ LIVE IN RIO!!!!!! IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!!!!!!
Definitely! Rush in Rio is one of the greatest recorded live shows
The crowd literally GOES WILD, and they know every note!
RIO is so cliche and they go nuts for anyone. Glad he did the studio cut first.
Oh yeah, he has GOT to see YYZ live in Rio!
@@MrAitraining ... but they don't sing the instrumentals, but for RusH! 👀
YYZ: code for Toronto's Pearson international airport .
and the opening cymbal riff is morse code for Y Y Z
@@blissiband3370 Actually the groove is the dots and dashes _ . _ _ _ . _ _ _ _ . .
In honor, rename the airport to PEARTson International.
Northlander Loverboy have a track called YVR?
@@johnmcgahern3946 holy shit
The God known as Neil Peart is the drummer for Rush. My first concert was Rush at the MN State Fair and it was LIT
2:38 That should have been Rush's slogan- "Three people is doin' that?" LOL These videos are so awesome!
Rush TOM SAWYER for sure should be the next Rush reaction.
Mark Bloniarz the life in holland version with South Park lol
Niel Peart is about 5 drummers in one. Geddy is one of the greatest bassists of all time.
Neil Peart is the greatest drummer ever
@flybyknightgt yes doing those impossible chords , he is very unconventional and a perfectionist like the two others
Squire Clarke lee.....
JACO #1
I adore watching people's reactions to Rush. Their joy and amazement always make me feel so good. I could feel how blown away you were, and it made me fall in love with the song all over again. Thanks for doing this!
There's some great concert footage of Rush playing YYZ in Rio. Best crowd response! Rush sounded just as great live as in the studio.
"I gotta see these boys live!"
🥺
RIP Neil.
It brings me joy to see someone experience Rush for the first time... It never gets old.😃😃😃
What Jason Williams said...YYZ live from Rio, then Xanadu "Exit...Stage Left" version...your jaw will have to be surgically reattached ! Love your reaction vids!!!
Bro-- love your reaction for real. Yes, you have to see them live. They're real and they're fabulous. No better band on earth. They broke the mold and it only fits them.
Bet he lost his damn mind when he found out Geddy sings, plays bass, AND plays keyboard (sometimes simultaneously).
Viper505repiV1 He did in the Tom Sawyer reaction vid 😂😂😂
U forgot Taurus pedals....
And uses his big nose to move his microphone in and out of the way!!!!
@@ubatooba8467 He uses his nose? I always thought he used his.... Nevermind.
@@jtoland2333 There's pedals on the floor that need operating.....so who really knows.....
Mate wrap your brain around this, Geddy Lee, sings, plays bass and plays a foot organ at the same time! man is skilled.
Also Lynyrd Skynyrd simple man, glorious tune.
@Hillary's emails to Lorne An actual musical genius...also you have the best name ever XD
6:43 the moment he transcended into the astral realm
The singer sometimes plays the bass with one hand, the keyboard with the other, and sings all at the same time LIVE.
One of the best songs you will hear. The instrument play is about as perfect as you can get. Always gives me chills.
2112, Tom Sawyer, dude there's so many
Cygnus X1, Hemispheres and The Necromancer too
Not sure he could handle 2112 :)
If you want live, Xanadu from Exit Stage Left. Then do YYZ live from Rio...unbelievable!
Mark Nichols one of the best live performances
Personally, I think YYZ from Different Stages sounds better..Geddy's bass is on fire in that performance in a way it isn't on ESL.
Xanadu is my favorite Rush tune
No, no, no no!!! ABSOLUTELY NOT! "TOM SAWYER" Geez?
I gotta give it up to, @MarkNichols: Excellent 2 choices! "XANADU" Off the Live Lp. (Exit Stage Left)
& "YYZ" From the Live Lp. (RUSH, LIVE IN RIO)
2 Reasons- "XANADU" Live, From (Exit Stage Left) IMO! RUSH, Epically lash strapped & nailed that song to the fukin floor!
2: "YYZ" (RUSH-Live in RIO)
Is quite obviously, (Self explanatory) & my boy "Shaq" here can witness (The Holy Trinity of the 3 Wisemen) At work & at their very best!
"Peace, Love and Soul" ✌🤘
(Don Cornelius)
I've watched live in Rio a zillion times!!
LOL! How have you not broken the internet yet? Best genuine reaction video in the game...well done!
.
He is one of the best reactors. Unfortunately there is a lot of them now and they overlap. Im CERTAIN that he watched "lost in vegas" do a reaction to this song before he did this video. Oh yeah he also read the comments. I love coach but saying this is only 3 guys, these guys are music nerds, and when are the words are pretty much top comment on every reaction to this song lol. Ive seen Rush twice luckily in the last 10 years. Amazing light show and phenomenal band. Shaq is the man tho
React to RUSH-LA VILLA STRANGIATO, it will destroy you.
Saw it live...even the recording of the song live will show the depth of musicianship that will not be seen again for a generation
I agree 100%
Villa Strangiato is a must!
and here's the live version: ruclips.net/video/yXebJIG5MZY/видео.html
I played bass with a band in the '90s that did La Villa... The Exit Stage Left version. Talk about some ridiculous stuff to have to deal with... Took damn near forever. That part where Geddy crams about 400 notes into about five seconds right in the middle of the song took the better part of a day to piece together and another half a day to start hitting it reliably. Wish I still knew that...
I love reaction videos. When people have never heard them before.
Rush fan since '74 here.
Unfortunately they called it quits last year.
Neil Peart is arguably the greatest rock drummer ever!
I'd agree with that statement.
You could make that argument, but you'd be wrong. Bonham is the greatest. Haha
@kelly Rushing I totally agree ☺✌😎
Jeff Brazeal I love Bonham, don’t get me wrong. I just think Peart beats him by a hair.
I put Peart on the same level as Keith Moon albeit totally different styles.
I love how he has respect for every type of music unlike everyone else. And RIP Neal
Stevie Ray Vaughn - Pride and Joy live
The most interesting part of this IMO - the main tune of the song is literally "YYZ", in Morse code.
(As others have said, YYZ is the airport code for Toronto's main airport, and the band's from the Toronto area.)
Great Observation!
My fave reaction..as a rush fan for over 40 years..this put a smile on my face..it reenergized me..thank you brother 😀
LIVE IN RIO!
And Pink Floyd DSTM.
Di B Rio, for sure. What was that, about a million people?
"I gotta see them live" - why every Rush fan has seen them 10+ times in concert :)
Rush isn't Metal.. They're prog rock. But they kick ass!
Alchemyst they used to skirt the line back in the early days. Cygnus X-1 is a metal song, and basically Voivod built their entire sound on that one song! Haha
Classic Metal. After speed metal and all that stuff came onto the scene, everyone started to redefine what Heavy Metal was. Before them, the truest of metal fans liked Rush, Scorpions, Iron Maiden (pre-Dickenson), AC/DC (nolonger called heavy metal, but were the heaviest), music that punched you in the face and kicked you in the teeth. I can see now though, how some of these bands are no longer called heavy metal and since its redefinition, many of them evade that label to distinguish themselves from what is now called Metal. When people ask what I like, I say, "Classic Heavy Metal." to distinguish what I like from what it's now considered to be. So, it's a matter of opinion for many and a matter of if you were there at the time for some, I figure. We're all correct. This is a win/win.
Prog Metal. Probably invented the genre tbh.
But slightly metal for the time.
Hard prog, I call 'em.
Shaq, YYZ was on Guitar Hero 2 if you ever played it lol. ALSO you gotta react to Tom Sawyer some time in the future!!
No. Yyz was on both Guitar Hero 2 & Guitar Hero Smash Hits.
@@Reigndolph you right, been years since I've played lol
@@jacobjordan4802 I'm not sure if you know but it's possible to play yyz on Guitar Hero 3. All you need to do is get the chart & audio & import it into Guitar Hero 3. I'm not sure how to do it but it's possible.
Spirit of Radio, Working Man, 2112, Freewill, Limelight, etc, etc, etc.
When the sound goes left to right like that in the speakers it’s called pan effect. There are many different ways to apply that.
8:17 "The song about over, we ain't heard one word!" Bwahahahahaha!! How funny is this guy! LOL
You just made my day ...Rush are God’s Of music!!!!! And their Canadian too!!
6:30 - "What is that?"
Put your headphones on your ears instead of hood and all will be revealed 🤣
Geo L
Laughed my ass off hearing him say that!! had to rewind a few times ...
Great reaction!! He needs to see Neil's drum solo from Frankfurt. 9 minutes of perfection and mind-blowing percussion. Best drum solo ever.
I've watched that solo a thousand times and it never gets old...RIP Professor
Great call on knowing what would happen at a Rush concert. You need to see this video from their Rush in Rio DVD. You can hear the crowd "signing" along to the music of the instrumental. (And that Rush in Rio concert would be great proof for you that it's just the three of them.)
Agreed
Doug Cowell ...those south americans...unreal
Dude - your reactions to Rush are priceless! I grew up to Rush - why I became a musician - Rush is amazing cuz they blend rock, jazz, and classical music - that's hard to do. Want to see a live performance at their peak, watch the entire concert video of 'Exit Stage Left'....it will blow your mind - and they sound the same live - incredible. 3 geeks that kick ass!
Yes, watch them live. They really are three people performing this music. Unfortunately, the band is retired, so you'll have to watch the concert videos.
Neil Peart is the most amazing drummer alive. Listen to 2112 long drum solo will blow your mind. Also working man is an amazing song.
Fern from Charlotte
Fern from Charlotte is Fern from Daytona drinking mojitos for next 5 days
@Reid Smith will do
I've seen them sixteen times live and they are the sickest band ever!
Drummer is Neil Peart, widely considered by many to be the best drummer of all time.
Many many many
That why they call him " The Professor"
Looked for this comment before I said it myself 🤘🏼
Case in point: m.ruclips.net/video/kIoeKLKqVBo/видео.html
If there's a better drummer out there, I hope I live long enough to see him/her.
YYZ Live in Rio ... the crowd sings along to an instrumental. Simply awesome.
By the way, you are spot on about the fans. The whole crowd is air guttering and drumming.
Me too Walrus i was hooked first time i ever heard them 1976 i was 11,,,, RIP Neil,,,,undisputed Goat
Two words.
“Red Barchetta”.
Listen and love, bra.
My favorite song by rush.....
My all time favorite RUSH song
As with their ENTIRE catalog just about, Red Barchetta will NEVER get old
To me, that's their staple song with "Tom Sawyer" but id much rather listen toi Red Barchetta all day long
That song will send "shivers up and your spine". When you listen to the song and you're paying attention to the lyrics, you'll smile and giggle, and that also if you remember this post, out of all the posts, this is the one to remember!! Hahaha!!
Red Barchetta & Subdivisions!
I am so glad I found this channel. It’s so much fun to watch! And not only that, he is spot on with his comments!
I love you brah! It's been a rough week since the passing of Rush drummer Neil Peart. Shaq, you bring a smile to my face and joy to my heart. I'm hitting your merch store and supporting you! Shaq for President!!!!!
You could react to Pink Floyd they are the greatest psychedelic rock band of all time. In Comfortably numb gilmore's guitar solos are mind blowing
Rated as 2 best solo ever and to me the best ever
I agree! Watch the live Pulse best solo. Makes peeps cry it’s so damn good!
"Rush - La Villa Strangiato". Best Rush instrumental, far better than YYZ.
DO IT!
Grayson DeBoard debatable but nevertheless there both some top quality master pieces
I agree!
Amen!!!
His head would blow up trying to figure out who's playing what.
I agree.
"No fucking way." That is exactly what came out of my mouth the first time I heard this song back in 1984 or so. Now, if you really want to blow your mind, check out La Villa Strangiato if you haven't already done so. And RIP Neil, thank you for your awesomeness.
Brother, you need some Primus in your life. Wynonas Big Brown Beaver comes to mind. BTW...Primus is 3 dudes as well.
Digimortal One Les Claypoole is a huge Rush fan. So yes Primus is a must
Primus sucks \m/
@@Videodragon64 Appreciate your opinion. But you're wrong.
It's a joke among primus fans I know they are awesome
@@Videodragon64 I got the joke. I used to own a tshirt that said that. Just giving a friendly jab.
Bro.. You are hilarious. Welcome to RUSH!! I've seen them live 16 times. They have no equal.
Neil Peart is the Drummer. One of, if not the greatest drummer of all time. Would love to see you react to their live version of this song with his Drum Solo. Or any Drum Solo's of his. 👍🏻
Bro the pusher man by Steppenwolf it tough. John Kay lead singer from Canada. Cheers
Welcome to Canada, there is low cost healthcare and amazing musicians.

Those chills you feel is the ultimate coolness factor surging through your soul
Toronto is their home. This song represents the feeling of the tour is over and you are finally going to sleep in your own bed.

YYZ is Toronto International Airport. That was the inspiration for the song. That chime in the beginning and the beginning part before the song starts spells YYZ in Morse code.
Ask any metal or rock fan who the greatest drummer of all time is...guaranteed 99% will tell you It's Neil Peart from Rush.
Not quite. You will get a lot of people saying John Bohnam, Buddy Rich, Steve Gadd, and Keith Moon.
Alive or dead . Rush made so much of a musical contribution to the world that all 3 rock demigods transcend life or death. Humanity needs to move past our fixation with passing away as a somber thing . Neil blasted down the doors of the afterlife . He left a body of work second to none and can be proud of leaving a legacy that will last forever. We should all be so lucky as to leave our mark indelibly on the world as Neil achieved . 70 years of life approximately. 150 years of musical genius as a result. If I know Neil , he doesn't want mourning of his passing thru the out door for too long but replication of the energy and passion and spirit that he harnessed in his body. Let me ask the question for him ," who's gonna top me , I'd like to see you try !"
Rush instrumental music has more bars than Lil Pump 😂😂
My face hurts from smiling with you. Welcome to the family.
Coach Wicked Ways by em, I requested it on a video a couple days ago and it got like 250 likes
