Hi Pierre - please walk us through the valve body, K1 and K2 issue symptoms. I’m in Dublin, Ireland working on my w123 and I’ve watched countless RUclips clips, you’re the only one doing meaningful explanation on the 722.3 and 722.4 transmissions, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Test drove a 1995 S124 E250 Diesel that i didn't buy because the transmission shifted extremely hard, every shift was like being rear ended and it wasn't able to hold a gear long enough to accelerate no matter how far i pushed the gas pedal. Kickdown was fine. All the other Mercedes i had are either manual or 722.6 so i don't have much experience and thought the transmission could be toast. If it isn't i don't see how shifting so hard wouldn't be hard on the whole drivetrain long term. My W202 C180 5 speed manual felt fast in comparison. Greetings from France.
Had a 420sel ran excellent for 6 years before trans failed, let a friend look at it what a mistake. Brought a 560sel to replace it 1 year trans failed, took to a trans shop next year failed. Now the car is sitting I don't trust nobody to work on it.
Hi Pierre, thank you for your videos! Can you please give me the part number for an original Mercedes Benz 722.3 valve body spring kit? Im in the process of fixing mine.
I think I have a 722.3 in my 1992 400SE (?). It shifts kind of hard. Do you have any theories on that? And thanks for a good video. Every day is school day.
Awesome video! I have one that doesn't want to kick down, the switch is working, but I need to verify that it's getting power when the car is underway. Really enjoyed the video, a lot of great information as always.
My 1993 W124 has the 722 auto transmission and it has a problem. It upshifts at around 2000rpm, but manually shifting it works fine, except it won't go from 1st to 2nd, and the shifter doesn't separate 1st & 2nd so I can't manually shift it between those gears. Both 1st & 2nd gears work, I can get into 2nd while moving slowly, or 1st by accelerating from a dead stop. When I manually shift the car into 3rd it goes into 3rd, and same with 4th (D). Could it be the bowden cable or something else?
Hey Pierre from Sydney Australia! Have watched endless amounts of your educational and informative videos especially for W123! Amazing knowledge! I would love your thoughts on how to improve the transmission shifting on my 1980 W123 300D 722.118 vacuum only box. The transmission fluid and filter have been changed twice in the past 1,000kms to ensure the cleanliness of the box. I have rebuilt the entire vacuum system and the readings are all spot on, but I have soft changes and flaring in 3rd and 4th as I accelerate up to 80Km/h then it holds firm up to 110km/h and beyond. I have changed out and adjusted the vacuum modulator but not sure what to do next.. any suggestions would be great! Thanks in advance. Jonathan

I have a R129 500 SL with 722.4 and it will not upshift unless I take my foot off the gas then it immediately upshifts to the next gear. I can’t figure out the problem.

Hi Pierre, i have a w124 2.2 automatic with this gearbox and it will not rev past 4500rpm and if the gear selector is on 2nd gear it will not go in to 2nd because it wants to rev out 1rst, if it is on D and i floor it i have to ease the gas pedal for it to shift to second otherwise it will stay on 1rst at 4500rpm, everithing else is briliant intermes of shifting. Have you encountered this problem before?

Yes more transmission valve body maintenance videos please!
That would be a great video on the valve body! Please include the 722.35! With greetings from Kansas Peter

Please do the valve body video please!🙏
Great content!!! I found a transmission issue to be generally a simple adjustment that you need to know about. As always, thank you Pierre!
A valve body service video would be gold!

Thanks for the Good Info
Such valuable information! Thanks Pierre :)
I wish a Pierre Hedary was in Sydney! Other than money, the next thing stopping me from buying a classic Mercedes is lack of proper mechanics.
Thanks for the information. I really do appreciate you. I just wish you were in my area.
The very same. If I had a rollback, I’d drive my 380SL down to FL and a vacation while my car gets a good going over.

Does the first generation bowden cable in the 722.4 have a seal ring in it from factory? I placed one on it and it resolved my leaking issue.

B2 piston. Now that’s a transmission failure.
