Neat to see a company exploring what's possible. Still, if you *must* have some kind of take-down capability I don't see why you wouldn't just opt for a tomahawk with a removable handle. Plus you'd get the benefit of being able to swap/build a larger/replacement handle in the field if needed.
The 250 price tag is killing me lol For when fashion overshadows function for sure. For a portable carry option it's hard to imagine not just getting a cold steel hatchet and taking out the set screw that holds em to the handle. The hammer head ones are handy and just the head and a stick is pretty easy to store or squirrel away in a pack.
Hmmm, for $250 I'd rather have a Granfors Bruk and a decent knife. You're paying an awful lot there just for the doubtful benefit of being able to fold the blade away - I can't believe that it's that much more convenient to carry than one of the small hatchets with a blade mask. And that handle looks like it would be Hot Spot City after a few minutes of use.
Gotta be honest, I don't know if this one was actually intended to chop "wood" 🤔 I do imagine if someone stepped out of their car with one of these and flicked the blade out while walking your direction, you might quickly change the color of your pants in more than one direction
This is not the first folding axe I seen (see Combat Ready folding axe). What's funny is so many reviewers (and commenters😆) totally miss the point of these folding axes...they are NOT for wood. Although you could try It would probably completely suck for wood. Primarily it was designed as a weapon first (although realistically it's going to be just a fun novelty for most people). As a self defense tool it actually has the interesting advantages in places with certain knife restrictions. First it is an axe instead of a knife and also it has a short blade length but still having decent reach.
You are correct. And I danced around that topic because had I addressed it directly, strange things happen on this end of ewe toob, Way Pons change the logarithm.
Ah......thank you for clarifying that. Was thinking the same that it is a very interesting design but I buy axes for wood and was disappointed to see it was terrible for that. In that case, for tactical applications, it does appear very good and also fun to play with.
You always have 10+ of everything. You must have a pretty big shop for just all your tools alone. Do you have other interests and hobbies, maybe project cars/trucks/motorcycles? Any other cool collections you could share with us? You always have the best stuff.
I don't know man, if you're gonna edc / vehicle pack an axe, you need a good hammer probably, given the work you're probably gonna end up needing it for. I think a regular hatchet hammer combo is probably best. Cool gimmick but i don't think it's a winner for real world where failure is not an option.
I would like to see a real review using this like a real axe in a wild environment. There is a lot of trash around in order to satisfy the unreal needs of things that will never be used.
Yes, lets put the front end of the handle in the exact same line that that the blade strikes at. You like it because it's an odd design? Being unique does not mean it's useful. This is nothing more than a tacticool pile of junk to show off your friends but never actually use. Similar to EDC bro and Expedition gear
Thanks for watching. It might be tacticool but certainly not a pile of junk. It is an exploration into new axe designs which, like most intersections between engineering and art, produce a less-useful result that does allow for proof of concept. Through that lens, I believe this is a win. Regarding the handle alignment and blade, It can be an issue when striking a surface larger than the tool. While often true with hammers, the only axe I've had that issue with is with ice climbing axes and tools. When you chop into the ice while vertical, it's possible to punch your knuckles into the ice, which is why my ice climbing gloves have carbon fiber knuckle guards.
@@Callelle6251 Wilde explained: "A work of art is useless as a flower is useless. A flower blossoms for its own joy. We gain a moment of joy by looking at it. That is all that is to be said about our relations to flowers."
Why put carbon fibre on something that needs be heavy? Looks like a nice mall ninja tool.
Love your videos! Super unique and interesting axe
This is soo cool! For some reason I imagine a horror movie where the main villain will be holding this type of axe.

Exactly!
It's more of an expensive novelty than it is anything else.

You would be correct but video platform is persnickety. Wood is a euphemism.
It's the Katsu FA1 tactical "battle" axe. not woodchop axe

Yes, that's why it says "battle axe" on the Katsu's website...
Thank you Sir hope you have a great Christmas
Thanks for watching, and you have great Christmas too!
Geez Doc, you a knife guy too? Bro just has a random Adamas kickin around, haha
That is one nice head shaver.

GEDORE makes a nice one got mine on amazon.
Can you review tekton 3/8 folding ratchet?
D2? Okay, this was clearly created as a novelty. Or, do the creators of this thing _want_ it to shatter?
KATSU FA01 TACTICAL FOLDING AXE With AXIS LOCK
The lack of being able to baton it is a big problem. Not a $250 value imo.
Someone will rip this off and have it on aliexpress for $50 in a few months...
not sure but i got a feeling that this head wont hold up to the abuse axes tend to suffer in terms of impact force
It’s really more of a weapon, but that is a different topic than my channel is set up for.
Wait . . . it doesn't have a bottle opener?!
Good call. But I'm not sure there is a tool on this planet I cannot use as a bottle opener whether the designers intended it or not.

Wood is a metaphor. The wild urban environment is a good home for this tool.
Very cool concept. Not sure this is the one, but an easier to carry axe could be cool.
Obviously, just a novelty...nothing wrong with that...the price is a bit much though.
Katsu means to victory in Japanese.
That glass breaker feature has me stumped.
I get that but you see that whole up top the glass breaker can be detached and put in the top to reinforce it

oh man i would love to have one
but i cant afford and im pretty sure german Zoll customs would not like
