- Christian Metalcore band, WAR OF AGES (WOA) began in 2002 and have played with such big name bands as Demon Hunter, Underoath, As I Lay Dying, Living Sacrifice,
POD and Becoming The Archetype.
Lead singer, Leroy Hamp, professed that as Christians the band wants to "Make a difference in a world that's covered in darkness." [2009 radio interview with The Full Armor of God broadcast].

I'm a preacher that likes like metal. God gave them the talent they have. they just use it in the only way they know. I don't care for country music but they have Christian songs but since I don't like the sound of country it cant be Christian, can it? of course just like pop, rock , hip hop as long as it doesn't say things that are contrary to Gods word it is an doesn't lead people down the path of sin it doesn't matter the sound its the words an intentions of the singers that matter
To me the only time country music of any kind was good is when your traveling in a car for a very long time it is amazingly relaxing.

I don't see how this is Satanic. The band is glorifying God in the way that they know how. He understands the intent of their heart. This is related to "the enemy meant it for evil but God turned it around for my good". He can use anything.

Read the story of King David. His life was metal to the bone. Soft christian music has its place as much as hard christian music.

Who says you can't worship with metal, Christianity doesn't have to be cookie cutter. I'm a metal head and Christian, so happy to find hard metal bands that believe in god. At our church we hire a metal drummer and they rock out. God loves us and wants to praise him no matter what that looks like.

I'm tired of people saying that Christians have no right to make music in this style. That's just dumb. They have the same rights as you do. And if you say "They're ruining metal!", you're wrong. They aren't ruining anything. They're ADDING to it, and making their own new style. And for people saying this ISN'T metal at all, well, you may be right, but that doesn't mean it isn't good or that no one will get enjoyment from it. Just remember that you don't have to listen to it, and it wasn't intended for you anyway.

My single mom who raised 4 men is my biggest inspiration and hero on earth. She is a woman of God and I live by the principles of christ, but I love metal and jam when I'm working, or driving or deadlifting etc. And her and I have always disagreed on rock music. She doesn't think it's of God but I think if the lyrics are laced with good or evil that's what you get. I'm a grown 27 year old man so this isn't a teenager asking I'm being for real. I'd like to know what other people and their families talk about and if anyone else comes across these conversations with their mom or whoever it may be. Great song

And I came to the verse one day that states What the enemy intends for evil, God will turn it around and use it for the good of his children and for his glory.

I went on youtube tonight to hear some metal.. I recently decided to give up bands like Slipknot and Tool for my own reasons.. But I still like heavy music.. Im so used to those bands... I used to play guitar in my basement along with those cd's sometimes.... Anyways, here I am... Hearing War of Ages.. Sounds a bit refreshing to me. For someone like me that's in transition to Christian metal, it sounds pretty good :) I might just have to learn these songs on my guitar too.. Thank you War of Ages.
Very cool to hear Decipher64. I too used to listen to those bands and they were depressing and made me have a bad attitude towards people close to me. Now that I started listening to only Christian bands my outlook on life has changed right along with my attitude towards people. I enjoy listening to Red, Thousand Foot Krutch and several other Christian artist.
I still like Slipknot but I've been gravitating away from them lately and don't really enjoy some of the devil references even if they are just for the shock value. Started listening to these guys and can't stop :D
Well you just summed me up also. I used to love slipknot and tool. I noticed Tool actually serves Satan (pentacle symbolism and just watch their music videos it might also be the same stuff Alister Crowley believed in) and slipknot blatantly does but no one in the band really gives a s***. The lead singer of slipknot is atheist and he subconsciously promotes evil.

I think the point of the song is that we are empty, hopeless and seeking the wrong things without the guidance that only Christ can provide. And those that think they're alone, aren't. Christ is there, having paid the ultimate price for them. "Through the blood of a savior, our death shall set us free." Just like you said, "to live is Christ and to die is gain."

I'm new to Christian metal. I used to be against it because I didn't understand how but in my walk with the LORD now I'm mature enough to realize the simple truth that God can and will use all things to bring glory to Himself. And also I was wondering where is the war music?!? Now I know where. I used to play black metal and death metal none Christen style and then I started to go to church and was asked to play at service and wow its so powerful and I am not even playing with stacks and playing clean I have been saved the music is powerful it makes me cry you can say what you will but god is the way and the light for ever

Christian people listening to worldly music no longer have any excuse. Any genre you want can be done to the glory of God. I personally love metal, but I hate the death behind mainstream metal. Christian metal, although involving the death of Christ, the slaughter of sin, and the execution of our old, lifeless, dead-in-sin selves, has more life behind it than any song about "living your best life" or anything like that.
