The entire Holding Out for a Hero scene is so iconic. Jennifer Saunders absolutely nailed her performance as the Fairy Godmother. Great reaction to one of my favorite movies!
And, I'd say her cover of the song is better than the original.
The best part about today's animation is that the animation is for the kids but the humor is for US! Just off the top of my in "Happy feet" there's a scene when the 2 main penguins male and female slide down an ice chute and while tumbling do the first 5 positions of the Kama sutra! I shit you not 😂😂😂
I rewatch that scene over and over again when I was a kid!
Puss in Boots was just the most phenomenal new character addition! The big cat eyes look gets me every time.
right😍 and I hope they watch it next
yeah they gotta do the puss in boots series
Favorite part is the whole OJ White Bronco chase scene🤣🤣”that’s not mine😳”
Every time I hear "cat nip"
"That's not mine"
I laugh out loud. It's so funny! 😂😂😂
The lady working the red carpet was Joan Rivers. She was a well known comedian in her day and often worked red carpet type events.
Joan was a legend with her sense of humor. She could be so vicious IRL lol
This is such a great sequel. So many jokes that are geared towards the adults. The chase on the white bronco and the headless horsemen getting a sobriety test crack me up every time. 🤣
The "Kung Fu Panda" series is a must add to your animated movie list. The temps jumped up 50 degrees from last week here in Minnesota.
Antonio Banderas who played Puss in Boots, is the one who played Zorro(which is the inspiration to puss in boots).
Thats why the frog at the Poison Apple asked the King if she knew him.
"THE PRINCESS & THE FROG" FAIRYTALE IS FIONA'S DAD'S SPELL😎😎😎😎😎
I love all the little easter eggs like the wolf reading "pork illustrated" at the beginning or all the stores when they first get to Far Far Away
Fiona told donkey in the first movie that when she was a little girl a witch put a spell on her so that’s why every night she becomes a ogre
They don't come out and say it, but I think you're supposed to assume the "witch" was the Fairy Godmother in disguise. She plays the long game.
Them arriving in Far, Far Away is a nod to Eddie Murphy's movie Beverly Hills Cop!!
This was fun, thanks. Antonio Banderas as Puss was a great casting move. I keep imaging in my head him in the recording studio hacking up a hairball.
Man. I wish y'all got this on DVD because then you'd get the bonus games of the "Far Far Away Idol" where they bring in Simon Cowell and do an American Idol parody. It was the best.
Im so glad someone mentioned this😂i used to play that game non stop when i was a kid hahaha
My daughter used to love that so much!! Oh my gosh! I just reminded her of it and she’s dropping by after work to borrow it and a DVD player so she can show her husband 😂😂😂
omg yes, that was so much fun
LOL I remember like 90% of the characters you could "vote" for, Simon just goes "nope that's a stupid choice" and declares himself the winner instead ahahaha
@zeph0shade yeah I think only donkey, puss and Shrek and Fiona could win from memory
The reason why Fiona turns into an ogre is because she was cursed by a witch when she was a little girl, she explains her backstory in the first Shrek film
Yeah; spoilers to those who hadn't watched the movie...but are watching the reaction lol
The witch was The Fairy Godmother; she gave the King/Prince the chance earn his love by turning from a frog to a man.
In addition; she cursed Fiona to turn into an Ogre at night in exchange that she will marry Prince Charming; removing the curse.
In my opinion this is the best sequel ever and a top 3 animated movie ever, the pop culture references, the music, the whole plot was a hilarious dynamic for a father that won't accept the man their daughter fell in love with 🤣 "gender confused wolf" might be the greatest aged joke in any animated movie lmaooo also "there's a white bronco heading thru the forest" 💀 the OJ reference is crazy
Fairy Godmother is voiced by Jennifer Saunders who wrote and starred in HILARIOUS SERIES "ABFAB" 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
The writers of these movies NEVER failed! 😂 Always brings good laughs
This is the best Shrek movie.
Even over 2 decades later it's still really good.
Mutant donkey & dragon babies are adorable!!! They return in 3rd one.
"lets go back inside and pretend like we're not home" gets me every time. The voice acting for the king is so amazing.
The King's voice: it is John Cleese!
A great great british actor, member of Monty Python in his early days...
If you want to see his talent, I think the movie "A Fish Called Wanda" from 1988 will be a good start 😉
John Cleese is a legendary superstar comedian! Love him!
John Cleese with the "old crusade knee" bit calling back to Fawlty Towers absolutely sent my sides airborne when I saw this movie as a kid.
Asia’s impersonation of Pinocchio was spot on, lol!
I literally grew up on these movies Shrek 2 was my favorite and I'm positive I was wearing my dad out singing "I Need A Hero" 😂😂
Same
the shrek and ice age series carried my childhood
1) puss in boots is a well known fairy tail book
2) antonio banderas, which voiced puss in boots, is Zorro, and puss in boots was behaving like Zorro
3) the puss in boots movies are part of the Shrek universe. It's 4 shrek movies and 2 puss in boots movies.
4) you won't see other ogres before the 4rth shrek movie
The fairytale is not so much a book as various short stories-different versions of a type 545B, or animal helper, folktale-included in various collections of stories, the best known of which is by Charles Perrault, _Le Maître chat ou le Chat botté_ (The Master Cat, or Cat in Boots). Like other literary fairytales, it has its origins in older, orally transmitted folktales.
Naturally, the modern roguish, Zorro-like Puss from the Shrekverse is quite different from the older fairytale version.
If anyone cares, you can google "type 545B folktales" and the first result from the University of Pittsburgh has a number of 545B tales from various countries,. At the end of the list are the theee earliest literary versions of Puss in Boots, by Straparola, Basile and Perrault.
when he was in the trees purring, it was a reference to Predators CLICKING, and when he came out of his chest it was a reference to Alien's Xenomorphs!
Fiona's father is based on the fairytale "The Frog Prince"
One of the rare times the sequel outdid the original
It's literally Meet The Parents with Shrek! I hope Shrek 5 does something fun like that.
I don't usually do sequels but when I heard Dame Julie Andrews was queen of far, far away (Hollywood), I was sold and not disappointed. I definitely recommend the 3rd.
No way was the big bad wolf reading "Pork illustrated" at the beginning 😂
Groundhog's Day is this Sunday.... y'all should watch the movie "Groundhog's Day" (1993)
I mean remember, the parents have to take the kids to the theaters. They have to put something in there for them to catch and laugh but also go over the kids heads.
Yall gotta do The Emperors new groove
Yesssss
My favorite RUclips married couple watching my favorite movie married couple.
As a kid Fiona was cursed to be an ogre at night by a witch, but when she kissed Shrek (her true love) that made it permanent.
Fun fact: If you notice when thre king and queen are in their room they have lilypads on their walls and the color pallet is green the king use to be a frog until the fairy godmother helped him so yes he did get a favor a long time ago😊.
Yes and in the bar there was a female frog asking if she knew him before.
The I need a hero scene is legit better climax than most modern blockbusters. At least this was memorable too many climaxes now days just go through the motions
I remember being 9 years old in my local cinema being blown to the edge of my seat with goosebumps from hearing I need a hero during this climax amazing stuff.
Same thing happened to me in the theater! I’ll never forget it! Amazing
@@asmrcascade5629 I'd love to see the same scene done with batman
The How to Train Your Dragon trilogy is probably the best animated trilogy ever made. Wouldn't have given it a chance if it weren't for my little niece back in the day making me watch it with her, but I'm so glad she did. Highly recommend giving it a shot.
Something a lot of people assume about animated movies is that they're all "kids movies", and while a lot of them ARE kids movies, a lot of animated films are better defined as "family movies", that you can watch with the whole family. And many of them are just straight up incredibly good and not what people expected going into it.
Love these movies also check out both Puss in Boots movies, they are really funny and yes that was Justin Timberlake 😁….The fairy godmother casted a spell on Fiona since she was a little girl where she turn into an ogre by night. It seems it was an agreement between the king and the fairy godmother after she turned him into a man (he was a frog) and it seems that the agreement was that his daughter needed to marry her son so he can be king one day, since Fiona’s dad fell in love with the queen and that was the reason he went to the fairy godmother in the first place. Prince Charming was supposed to save Fiona from the tower and break the spell of her turning into an ogre but Shrek beat him to it and since Fiona fell in love with Shrek she stayed as an ogre.
You should definitely watch Spirited Away!
It's one of the most popular animated movies and is truly unique and beautiful.
Absolutely!!! And if not Spirited Away, it would have to be Howl's Moving Castle and/or My Neighbour Totoro, as next suggestions.
Disney's "Oliver and Company", "Fox and the Hound", "Lilo and Stitch", and "101 Dalmatians" are some I would definitely recommend if you haven't seen them already.
Not the Fox and the Hound! 😢
Although it does have one of my favorite lines ever: “Chief, get back in there before I break your other leg.” So perfectly delivered. 😂
Shrek 2 is my favorite one
A lot of these animated movies aren’t as kiddy as adults seem to automatically think they’ll be. That’s one of the biggest tragedies of animation is some ppl write them off without giving them a chance, not even knowing what great stories they’re missing out on.
The Fairy Godmother granted Fiona's father his wish to turn into human. In exchange he pledge to have his daughter to marry her son so she put the ogre spell on Fiona so her son could rescue her from the castle at the right time but that got messed up with Shrek rescuing her first.
“Spirited Away” is an amazing anime movie I think y’all would like it a lot!👀
There are quite a few animated movies which can still be entertaining for adults. Many top level actors have dabbled in the voice acting genre. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen did 'Toy Story'. Chris Rock and Ben Stiller did 'Madagascar'. I enjoyed Will Ferrell in 'Megamind'. All worth a watch.
BJ at the end of Shrek1 you said you used to feel like an ugly duckling and Asia said she felt the same way about herself and that genuinely surprised me because I always admire how handsome you are and how pretty Asia is. Just wanted to let you know I hope you don't see yourself that way anymore!! Honestly, you two are so gorgeous! Much love 💖
This is my favorite Shrek, fairy godmother is 🔥 I love the fast food scene & her iconic song in her red dress
Puss In Boots: Last Wish, Finding Nemo, Zootopia, All Madagascar Movies, Sing& Sing 2, Tangled
Disney Classics: Tarzan, Mulan, Snow White
I like when they're at Friar's drive-thru! 😂
King Harold being The Frog in the original princess and the frog really adds on the idea that he wanted to meet up with Fairy Godmother so he can marry the princess (Lillian)
You guys should watch the mask of zorro. Antonio banderas plays the main character, and the way puss in boots is played is pretty much his character from zorro as a cat.
28:14 The candle holder is named Lumiere, and the clock is Cogsworth
"CHANGES" BY DAVID BOWIE AS INTRODUCED IN MOVIETO A YOUNGER GENERATION OR TWO.💋
Puss in boots is basically zorro also played by Antonio Banderass
LMFAO asia did a perfect pinocchio impression wtf 😭😭😭
*This comedy roast from Puss In Boots to Donkey....*
*_(Donkey drinks the Happily Ever After potion)_*
*Shrek: How do ya feel?*
*Donkey: I don't....feel any different. I look any different?*
*Puss In Boots: You still look like an ass to me.*
*_(Donkey gives Puss a "Boy, shut up" look)_*
😆😆🤣🤣
"Surf's Up" or "Flushed Away" are GREAT animated films y'all should absolutely check out!
Megamind with Will Ferrel is hilarious. Big Hero 6 I only saw because we took my nephew to it. It totally surprised me with how good it was. The “How to train your Dragon” series as well.
Yes! Waiting for part 3 4 and 5!
It's cold here too. No snow.
I’m so happy y’all watched this! This was part of my childhood! Glad you guys enjoyed it. Love the reactions.💪🏾✊🏾💯
There's some "kid" movies that I'm glad I watched cuz i found myself enjoying them just as much as my oldest.
My favorite child hood movie
Not hood movie 😩😆
@@Nikkeyi01right 😂
@@Nikkeyi01 We in da hood?
I got it now childhood not child ‘hood’ 😩😂
@@Nikkeyi01 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Horton Hears a Who! Jim Carrey and Steve carrell. Hilarious
24:45 Fiona's curse went "By night one way, by day another, this shall be the norm until you find true love's first kiss and then take love's true form," meaning that after the spell was broken, she took her true love's form - and Shrek's form is an ogre 😊
22:13 You guys haven’t heard of Puss N Boots? Oh my gosh you guys are in for a treat 😄❤ 48:37 Shrek 4 is where they show the origins of Ogre’s in case you guys are wondering there is a whole village of them that’s hidden away but Fiona was cursed by a witch when she was a child but they don’t tell us much about that story of her turning into an Ogre
17:34 it's adorable them animating the dog to get scared of Donkey mimicking Shrek 🤭 lol
The second movie is hilarious 😂 The baby crying after Shrek and Fiona got out of the carriage is too funny 🤣 😭 😂 👏🏻 Shrek and Fiona dad was a mess for arguing at the dinner table. The pig falling on the table after their argument will always be funny 🤭 😂 🤣 😭
This was one of my favorite movies growing up. One of the best kids movies all time and definitely the best Shrek!!! Great reaction!!
Antonio Banderas played Zorro & they did Puss in Boots as Zorro. In the fairy tales Puss in Boots is a trickster character. He helps his master rob a rich man & tricks a shape shifting ogre (or giant) into turning into a mouse & he eats him so his master can take over the ogre’s (or giant’s)castle & fortune
Fiona was cursed by a witch to be an ogre at night & True Love’s Kiss would make her take on her true love’s form permanently. Since Shrek is an ogre, she remained an ogre
As to the Justin Timberlake reference, Cameron Diaz was dating Justin at the time they were making the movie
I like all 4 movies. My ranking of them is
Shrek 2
Shrek
Shrek Forever After
Shrek 3
And its a close match between 3& 4, for me 4 slightly edges 3 out
Hope you guys are doing the whole franchise including the Puss in Boots movies. Cant wait for the rest!!
"Happy wife, happy life." There was a popular wall poster in the '70s that had the same idea: "If Mama ain't happy, ain't NOBODY happy!"
Classic movie 🔥🔥🔥🔥
They are riding around in a big onion. Remember, that was their "pumpkin" carriage from the end of the first movie when they got married.
If you were paying attention within the King and Queen's chamber's, it's decorated in The Princess & the Frog themed. Also, Puss In Boots is in fact a real fairytale character. They didn't just create him for Shrek. His character was infamous in fairytales for being able to hunt and kill ogres.
Asia, you are so right. These movies are very much animated movies for all the family. Some of the more adult jokes just go over the kids' heads. It's such great entertainment.
It's not animated but Time Bandits is another family movie more for adults about a neglected but brilliant kid who goes on an adventure in time with renegade angels. It's by a member of Monty Python (with small roles for 2 other members). It's super epic, fun and creative and has OG James Bond himself Sean Connorey playing a legendary historical king
Prince Charming = Jamie Lannister 😂
Thank you both for watching this! I love Shrek sm! Y’all are both beautiful and so so entertaining 💘
Hearing y'all discover that animated movies aren't just for kids is adorable. 😂 ❤ You should watch Soul by Pixar, it's the movie of theirs that feels the most like it was just straight up made FOR adults. The subject is so mature and feels like it can only be fully appreciated by someone who's lived a few decades. Inside Out is a good series too, a bit more balanced but still some great life themes.
Super underrated animated movies to watch: Thumbelina; Anastasia; The Swan Princess; Fern Gully; Treasure Planet; Atlantis: The Lost Empire
"Animated stuff = kids stuff" is exactly how our generation got to watch crazy stuff like South Park and Family Guy etc as kids lol. Glad yall survived the TX freeze, it wasn't as bad as 2021 this time.
As a 70s early 80s kid, pretty much purely by accident...
Heavy Metal
Watership Down and Plague Dogs
American Pop
Fire and Ice
Wizards
Coonskin (aka Streetfight, woof!!)
They'd just play these on HBO in the middle of the day.
@@richardrobbins387 did you ever see fantastic planet?
My fat thumbs couldn't have clicked on this any faster. You guys are honestly my favorite ❤
Also..irrelevant..but Asia your brows are everything!
Yes ive been waiting for yalls reaction to this!! Your going to love it 😅😂 💚
Animated movies like this aren't kids movies, they're family movies. That's why you got adult jokes in there too
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, 2 D,is my favorite ! The Saturday cartoons are wonderful also
Shrek is Love. Shrek is Life! ❤
If u remember ,the frog said do i know you to the king kind of foreshadows that the king is a frog before the reveal in the end
The greatest sequel of all time with one of the greatest animated final acts of all time, Jennifer Saunders absolutely killing Holding out for a Hero! You probably don't know her, but she's a British icon & national Treasure of a Comedian!
1:31 a lot of disney, pixar and dreamwork works have adult jokes - it's why they're classified as 'family films', there's something for the adults too.
Also Shrek 4 is the one you need to watch to explain shrek's ogre community, 3rd one isn't bad but not as good as the others, being completely honest the only reason I watched the 3rd one more then once was the princess fight scene and because as a teenager I loved Arthur/Artie Lol
I love them both so much. Always very entertaining and feel good moments.
Looking forward to part 3. This was one of my favorite series. This one is my favorite of the 4. The part where Puss says "today i repay my debt" gives me goosebumps every time I see it.
Hi Ms. Asia and Mr. BJ, This is Always Mine and My Mom's Favorite Movie I'M so Happy you continue watching Shrek Movies. The Reason Why I'm Love This Movie so Much My Mom R.I.P. She was in the Bowie Senior Chorale They used to singing Accidently in Love. This really was My Mom's Favorite Song and Movie she Love all Shrek Movies. We used to watched great movies together. It's bringing back memories for me with my mom. Who I'm missing so much it's been 9 months since May 2024 she passed away. If you want to see more Eddie Murphy Movies you gotta see Disney Movie called Mulan Eddie Murphy played Mushu the Dragon. It's Really Great Movie Eddie Murphy will make you laugh with this movie like he did with Donkey. Puss In Boots Remind me of The Mask Of Zorro. They do have Puss In Boots movies part 1& part 2. I'm Really Love The Great Music in this Movie. 😊😍🥰❤
One of my favorite childhood movies
You know you're getting old when you see two adults watching this movie, not recognizing The Matrix reference or immediately pointing out Antonio Banderas... 😂
Unironically one of the best sequels ever made regardless of genre.
Ok, so Fiona had a curse cast on her from a wicked fairy who turned her into an ogre every night. She was locked away in a tower guarded by a dragon for YEARS to wait for her true love to come and rescue her, and this movie claims that Charming was scheduled to be that true love. But he evidently took his sweet time if she was there for years. Ofc Farquad sent Shrek to rescue her so Farquad could marry her and become a king, but she and Shrek fell in love instead. The spell said, "By night one way, by day another. This will be the norm, until you receive True Love's Kiss, and take love's true form." (This is what she says in the 1st movie.) Because she fell in love with Shrek and he with her, _he_ is her true love so when she took love's true form, she remained an ogre because her true love is an ogre.
Pixar is owned by Disney, Dream Works is Disney's arch enemy, with Disney being the antagonist.
32 degrees here in Oregon but it’s 11:49pm, during the day it’s been in the 30s and mid to low 40s with a wind chill. No snow this year yet for us.
