I play Crop Rotation in Lathril mainly for Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth to go the Forestwalk route with Eladamri, Lord of Leaves and Elvish Champion. As well I have replaced Coat of Arms with Eldrazi Monument recently with good results. Evasion + Indestructible in my play group was just much better than the pure power boost. Benefector's Draught is a card I have never seen so far. Looks like a great addition, I'm going to test it for sure.
Does benefactors work how I think. Play it, attack all opponents, hope they block, if each opponent blocks I draw 3, then draw 1 more? Or do I draw way more if my opponents choose to block multiple creatures?
Bloom Tender seems like a mistake in Lathril, a two color deck. At most, it will tap for two colors. There are so many more elves, that don't cost $18 like Bloom Tender, that will tap for much more than 2 mana.
When people say Quirion Ranger "helps you make your land drop" that's so confusing. But now I see what they're saying, I think. While it does not "help you make your land drop" it would let you tap the land, return it to your hand, then play that land for turn and tap it again.
I really like elfs in edh. I would add a allosaurus shepherd, wirewood symbiote, eladarmi, kindred summons for flavour and throne of the god pharaoh. I also have some tutors but not everyone likes to play them. Did you ever consider Glissa as the commander or you think she is to underwhelming?
Hello, what are your thoughts about following inclusions: • Fierce Empath - Elf tutor for creature finishers like End-Raze Forerunners (budget) or Craterhoof Behemoth • Elvish Champion + Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth - this combo can be easily assembled and provides another way of finishing the game (and I see you run Crop Rotation already) • Poison-Tip Archer - I personally think this is better inclusion than Rootpath Purifier also because you don't run 3 CMC Elves that fetch lands • Minions' Murmurs - this is essentialy another copy of Pact of the Serpent
I think most of these are perfectly reasonable! Hoof is always a contentious card to include in any content haha. You get folks who love em and folks who hate em. Yavimaya is definitely a must have!
@@scoopinresponse Yeah, you're completely right about Craterhoof :D It's more reasonable inclusion in my opinion because of Legacy Elves being similar strategy and even precon comes with "Mini 'hoof" in form of End-Raze Forerunners
I found lathril to be underwhelm on this type of deck. Voltron lathril pumping her damage and having cards to protect her makes her ability swarm faster with tokens.
@Zachary Funkhouser if I want to go infinite mana, she doesn't really facilitate that so at times casting her is kinda meh. But if you voltron with her making her deal 5+ damage and creating tons elfs, she seems more efficient.
Opposition Agent is a very nasty Card, but I would probably replace it with Elvish Champion and, replace Titania as well for Joraga Warcaller, as another finisher
I played a little with this version and even though is a very agro deck, you spend a lot of life, and Lathril skill is not that easily used, I moved around that by replacing shaman of the pack with skemfar shadow sage, so you can choose between doing damage or heal, and Vraska with the original Nissa Revane if you populated well, you will be sent back to full health and a high probability of overheal
Can you explain the quiron ranger card a little better please? I’m newer to magic. So how would you get a extra land.? I see how you would get the one free land, if you didn’t have any lane in your hand, swing Lathril .tap one forest . Play Ranger Pick up land from battlefield. Untap Lathril. PLAY land for turn . 1 forest. how would it be 2?
I think you're on the Money, sorry I wasn't clearer. I beleive i refering to gaining 2 mana (untaping a dork + returning a tapped land to be played from hand making the 2nd mana)
Opposition agent, rootpath purifier and titania- why? Bloom tender nets you two mana tops. Lots of good cards in this deck, but a lot of odd choice for my taste. Only six removal?
Besides insurance against non basic land hate, do you get much value out of the Rootpath Purifier given that you’re not running much that fetches basics?
@@scoopinresponse same. Seems like there might be a place for Root with relevant ramp, but it seems more much more synergistic to go the elf mana dork route. Maybe Poison Tip Archer in the 4 slot instead? I was skeptical at first, but he's just so good when someone inevitably wipes the board to deal with your elf hoard. Sure, go ahead and wipe and take (checks the board) 30 damage.
@@BenjaminIMeszaros hear me out. Poison tip archer + tainted strike. Then you get to board wipe yourself to victory. Edit: Wait this doesnt work. causes life loss, not damage. I was thinking of Syr Konrad which actually deals damage. Maybe we do that here instead.
When a land card says " tap: add 1 to your mana pool" and the 1 is in a grey circle, does that mean any colour of mana? What's the difference between that and the diamond shape used for mana?
for costs, the 1 in a circle can be any color, the diamond (or butthole) mana is specifically colorless sources only. As far as lands producing (1) it will be colorless. any lands that are templated like that (crystal vein in some printings for example) will be errata'd to show it as the butthole or "colorless" depending on the printing.

Hey nice suggestion. I have yavimaya+elvish champion but forgot about crop rotation.
Hey, your list seems interesting. May you share it?
Eladamri is a 200$ card, sadkek

a fun little pet card of mine is Blackblade Reforged. I just like threatening lethal with commander damage out of nowhere.
i like it
Wow really?!?! That's so unique and quirky!!!
fun build. my favorite lathril tech is Alpha Authority, because it gives lathril unblockable and hexproof
I'd not thought of that. Pretty interesting
That and Alpha Status 😊
Nice deck, loved it!
Tyvm!

Sick build, gonna help my girl make this she loves elves!!
Did you help her make the elf deck? Is she still your girl?
For Coat of Arms, it states each other creature. Therefore; 5 elves would get +4/+4

I suggest Birchlore Rangers. It's a pauper powerhouse that can really chain together shenanigans stuff like Beast Whisperer.
wow i love a lot of your choices in this list. it’s very close to my own.
another dork id recommend is circle of dreams druid. another creature/cradle
Nice list, i would add an allosaur shepherd and a staff of domination

I’m curious if this can be cedh if done right. I feel like there are really solid payoffs and can get there quickly
I know marwyn can I’d imagine this could too
Copperhorn Scout is a stupid elf lets you tap lathrill twice then get all your mana dorks in 2nd main
Auto include in all my elf decks 😁

Running galta in Elf’s could be good too. With the Cost 1 less per creature. Pulling Galta out for 5 for a 12/12.
100% galta is a house in any Gx creature deck imo.

She's literally an elfball commander. She's made for elf tribal through and through.

@@zacharyfunkhouser4015A mix of voltron and elfball is way better !
Alpha Status is just great for this 😂
@@timucincarmijn8117 yea you need the usual rampers and enablers for her to drain the table (untapped in opponent turn).

An Icon of ancestry would be nice as well for that extra +1, and Eldamri to piss everyone off 😅

Yeah It's super tough to get the ratios of decks like this just right! You want a good density of pay-off enablers as well as reload effects etc.
there is literally no reason you should ever be running a signet in an elf deck lmao
OK lmao 🤣

If we are talking about ashaya combos though that is a different story.
Opposition agent, rootpath purifier and titania- why? Bloom tender nets you two mana tops. Lots of good cards in this deck, but a lot of odd choice for my taste. Only six removal?
If you use the tap ability it would only gain you 10 life not 40 ?
Besides insurance against non basic land hate, do you get much value out of the Rootpath Purifier given that you’re not running much that fetches basics?
Haha. Honestly I've never done anything nasty with root path. I was so on the hype train but I think we need something better to tech with him

29 lands feels insane to me. I know elfball decks don't want that many lands, but this feels like too little..

One of my pet cards jn her is Hatred 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
elvish clancaller is not needed, waste of space, there's much more useful cards to play
22k views and he runs mana rocks 😢 so bad
@@nolifeSnorlax omg you're right so bad to run a huge number of five mana rocks, two of which were good enough to get banned. 🥲🥲 so bad.
