- Whew, this was a fun one! This is an ear arrangement with my main inspirations being Clifton Hicks (@CliftonHicksbanjo) and Knox Massey (@knoxmassey6822). I highly recommend checking out both of those legendary old-time creators if you haven't already! Big thanks to camerawoman wife for helping me record this one (and also for putting up with all my banjo practice!)!
I'm excited to see the channel rocket past 100 subscribers in such a short amount of time! I really appreciate all the interest and support from the banjo community! ❤️

Recorded with my Deering Goodtime tuned roughly "E Standard" (eBEG# B which is "G Standard" tuned down 3 halves).

Thanks, Mike!

Tyler! Thank you! I can't remember if we've spoken in your comment section before, but I am a huge fan of your channel!
It's crazy to think that 3 out of my top 10 favorite banjo creators on the platform are right here in my comments today. This banjo RUclips journey has been really exciting so far! 😁
Nice spot. Videos are getting better dude! Workin hard too... Attaboy.
I appreciate it! I've been learning a lot about making videos lately! I've got a lot more to learn and they won't all be "this fancy", but I'm definitely having fun with it! 😄
Killin it man!
Thanks! 😄
Really cool. Neat background
Thank you, Knox!! 😁 I really liked your verse about the lightning during the thunderstorm in your video! That one had me laughing!
Another great job! I am familiar with Clifton's version and I like what you have done with it.
That's good feedback! Thank you! I debated on whether I was going to incorporate a few minor, intentionally distinct differences from his version, since I figure it's probably one of the better known version on RUclips. I eventually decided that I'd add some light modifications that I felt complimented my playing style and made the song feel a bit more personalized.
It's always a little nerve-racking making any adjustments to an established song because I want to be as respectful as possible to the source material. But I feel like if approached carefully that most old-time songs give enough wiggle room for some good individuality without compromising the song's integrity.
Sounds good brother 🪕🔥
Thanks, Bryan! 😁
Enjoying the frailin man.. props
Thank you kindly! 😁
