He seems to always play a very intelligent person or someone whos very good in their field, giving the impression they wouldve been good at whatever they chose to do.
You need to get an education on how much a movie makes before the studio considers it a hit, a money maker. A movie needs to make at least 3 times it's budget to even be considered to be making money. There are a lot more expenses other than it's budget.
In the actual distribution system where cinemas get around 40%, all movies carry a marketing/ad campaign to boost box office. Studios need to reach at least 2.2x of the budget to break even. Around 3x to be a hit. More than 4x means a blockbuster @Hornet1980

It appears his best movies are those where he is part of an all star cast. Sorry Matt, that's the best I can do.
The Legend of Bagger Vance is one of the most beautiful films ever made- I have all ny friends watch it!
Great movie. The kid is great. Theron is great and solid candy. Even the cuckold slapped was great. Indeed a great movie

You are absolutely correct 💯
It depends if the indicated budgets include the marketing and distribution costs or not

Rounders was great.
I don't care if he was uncredited in Eurotrip, it's an egregious omission
The Rainmaker, was his best momie, in my mind.

School ties was good
Where is courage under fire.
