Haruna Ishola is by every standard the best Yoruba Language musician to have ever lived. His sweet voice, his knowledge and use of the language backed by the constant evolution of his style to comply with the technology and trends of his era (1947 to about 1980) stand him out thousands of meters above his predecessors, contemporaries and all others who have come after. Live on Baba in our consciousness and in the musical treasures you gifted the world.

It is very nice to hear the rich yoruba lyric in apala of the man himself late Haruna
Ishola. He was an Icon in apala music.
Good for yoruba scholars. He sings with indepth yoruba language. As a matter of fact. even after death, the chief is still an Icon

Music, as a universal language, knows no ethnic/language barrier Unfortunately, people like you adored themselves with centiments cannot understand the inner meaning of what Alhaji Haruna Ishola is talking about in his music, if we are talking of ego-centrism it is a Nigerian phenomina, not the north! I am a Hausa man, but like this man since 1970s when I was listening to his music in my remote village; I use to shed tears when I listen to such piece.

I really wish there was an english translation of this on the web somewhere. The music and the voices are beautiful in and of themselves but I feel I'm missing something very important.

@Darkasthenight06 it goes like this: If we have money, we should eat well and take care of our family and friends. when you help someone do not make a case out of it. That is the type of charity that God recognises. The person who is rich but who sees the down and out and help them will be blessed. If the person helped did not utter a word, God will replace money spent like this. The hungry person cannot play with the one well fed.
