Surrounding a stone pedestal, nine statues were arranged in a circle, holding unlit, red candles in their skeletal hands... which were suddenly illuminated. She then found out that her 9 friends actually knew about the curse, and just didn't want her to know what they were doing so they pretended to betray her so that she could save the world instead. Realizing the fate that her friends had to suffer, splitting the curse, the Messiah understood that they were never being greedy, they just wanted to protect her and never once wanted to steal the "blessings", they just didn't want her to feel the pain of enduring the curse. Even at their death they always remembered their motto, "In sickness and in health, we share joy and pain".

After listening to this song for 2 years, I only realised today that アイ (ai) can be read as both 愛 (love, endearment) or 哀 (sorrow, tragedy) but is left ambiguous in the title of the song
That makes sense, since miku’s friends loved her so much, that suffered for her. The other meaning can mean miku is alone and sad so (sorrow and tragedy makes sense)
I know this is a rather old video, but I can't get over the vocals as well as the emotion portrayed in the art. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but even when the messiah's friends took upon the "blessings", they appeared to be smiling from joy and greed. However, all of their eyes were sad. Pained to look at and it was especially apparent in the elder sister who stepped into the garden of silver snow. Her tears freezing over, and they weren't from joy. But rather, that she'd die for her friend and she was okay with that. The emotion within the art was magnificent and It made me very happy to watch-- for it made me sympathize with the characters and realize how much more human they are than the average human today. All in just 5 minutes. Wow- Magnificent.
For those who didnt get the story : Having searched for power which surpasses human intellect and mocked God, the civilization earned His anger. Once he sealed the 9 Components which make up the world in one tower, the world began its slow journey towards destruction. It was then that a Messiah and their companions climbed the tower in order to beg God for forgiveness. After earning His forgiveness, they took the Blessed Light from the 9 Components and lit the world's lifespan at the altar. What followed was-the world's lifespan was connected by the light of the Messiah, who is created every 15 years. She realizes that they were all blinded by greed, wanting to get more power by grabbing the blessings for themselves. Finally, she reaches the top of the tower alone, where the altar was waiting for her. Surrounding a stone pedestal, 9 statues are arranged in a circle holding unlit, red candles in their skeletal hands, which suddenly become illuminated. She learns that her 9 friends actually knew about the curse, and just did not want her to know what they were doing, so they pretended to betray her so that she could save the world instead. Realizing the fate that her friends had to suffer from splitting the curse, the Messiah understands that they were never being greedy. They just wanted to protect her and never once wanted to steal the "blessings" and did not want her to feel the pain of enduring the curse. Even at their death, they always remembered their motto, "In sickness and in health, we share joy and pain". A ghostly figure disappears right after the flame on the stone pedestal ignites. The Messiah finally accepts her fate, smiles for herself and reaches her hands to the altar. In the end, it is unknown what happened and is left for open interpretations.

I am really upset that you guys lost... this entry was by far one of the most beautiful and just absolutely enjoyable things to watch and listen to. I have never ever witnessed a group where the mix, first of all was beyond stunning. normally someone is too loud or not loud enough but throughout the entirety everything was so matched and flowed beautifully. The animations were smooth and absolutely just...UGH i could just sit here and go on but I was completely confused when I saw you guys didn't place 1st. I hope to see you all in the future, singing together and taking the gold. So damn beautiful.

Agreed. This is just amazing to the point it makes it harder to listen to multiple other versions of the song. Same with their others, they add bits that seem so natural that listening to the others seem hollow.
Yeah. For me the worst to try to listen to others is El Tango Egoista, since it just works so well as a bigger group song, and the extras fit in so well(like I didn't even know the 'say amen evil omen' bit doesn't seem to be in any others), and then Pandemic. Those two especially the OBNN version is my go to, and other covers just don't cut it. ;A; They're so freakin' talented.
I saw the notification and in less than a second I clicked it. Blessed Messiah is one of my favorite songs with its story and emotional portrayal. This captured every part of it that I started to tear up at the end because you guys expressed the emotion in the song. Ruin the Ripper I have a feeling you would truly enjoy a series known as Witch Hat Atelier. You are correct, my heart bleeds when I consider the truth in the story. Nine friends who “betrayed” each other only so that their beloved messiah would not die alone so that humanity may live on.
I like how in this version the Messiah didn't go mad in grief and instead just mourned their deaths, cause in some versions it is implied that the Messiah went mad in grief after realizing the truth.
This is absolutely beautiful!!!! The part that I loved the most is the narration in 0:18-0:33 and 1:57-2:10 IT. WAS. HEAVENLY. Also, this gives me goosebumps everytime~ Tbh, just imagine if someone combines Reba's chorus(from Murasagi's version) with the narration.....

I know this is a rather old video, but I can't get over the vocals as well as the emotion portrayed in the art. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but even when the messiah's friends took upon the "blessings", they appeared to be smiling from joy and greed. However, all of their eyes were sad. Pained to look at and it was especially apparent in the elder sister who stepped into the garden of silver snow. Her tears freezing over, and they weren't from joy. But rather, that she'd die for her friend and she was okay with that. The emotion within the art was magnificent and It made me very happy to watch-- for it made me sympathize with the characters and realize how much more human they are than the average human today. All in just 5 minutes. Wow- Magnificent.
For those who didnt get the story :
Having searched for power which surpasses human intellect and mocked God, the civilization earned His anger. Once he sealed the 9 Components which make up the world in one tower, the world began its slow journey towards destruction.
It was then that a Messiah and their companions climbed the tower in order to beg God for forgiveness. After earning His forgiveness, they took the Blessed Light from the 9 Components and lit the world's lifespan at the altar. What followed was-the world's lifespan was connected by the light of the Messiah, who is created every 15 years.
One day, the local seamstress of the "Village of Youth" receives a letter from the oracle of the nearby kingdom. The seamstress is destined to become the next Messiah, the one who has to get the 9 "blessings" inside of the "Tower of AI". Her friends and the other villagers decide to help her too. What no one knows is that the so called "blessings" are tests God set up to test her and see if she could endure the curses. She has the choice of either surviving all the curses or splitting them between 9 people. She is unaware about these 2 facts, so she lets her friends join her. They are a pair of shepherd siblings , a dancer, a poet , a monk , a pair of baker sisters , a knight , and the village cheif.
However, inside of the tower, the 9 "friends" put aside their friendship and betray her, one by one. She realizes that they were all blinded by greed, wanting to get more power by grabbing the blessings for themselves.
Finally, she reaches the top of the tower alone, where the altar was waiting for her. Surrounding a stone pedestal, 9 statues are arranged in a circle holding unlit, red candles in their skeletal hands, which suddenly become illuminated. She learns that her 9 friends actually knew about the curse, and just did not want her to know what they were doing, so they pretended to betray her so that she could save the world instead.
Realizing the fate that her friends had to suffer from splitting the curse, the Messiah understands that they were never being greedy. They just wanted to protect her and never once wanted to steal the "blessings" and did not want her to feel the pain of enduring the curse. Even at their death, they always remembered their motto, "In sickness and in health, we share joy and pain".
A ghostly figure disappears right after the flame on the stone pedestal ignites. The Messiah finally accepts her fate, smiles for herself and reaches her hands to the altar. In the end, it is unknown what happened and is left for open interpretations.

I have never ever witnessed a group where the mix, first of all was beyond stunning. normally someone is too loud or not loud enough but throughout the entirety everything was so matched and flowed beautifully. The animations were smooth and absolutely just...UGH i could just sit here and go on but I was completely confused when I saw you guys didn't place 1st. Yeah. For me the worst to try to listen to others is El Tango Egoista, since it just works so well as a bigger group song, and the extras fit in so well(like I didn't even know the 'say amen evil omen' bit doesn't seem to be in any others), and then Pandemic. Those two especially the OBNN version is my go to, and other covers just don't cut it. ;A; They're so freakin' talented.
