Beautiful! How long does usually it take for you to master every piece that you play? Any tips on what to prioritize in learning Bach’s composition in particular? Thank you so much for sharing and inspiration 👍🏽
Thank you dodo guitar! I don't think I ever master them!! But how long it took me to get this one, in particular, to this point: Making the arrangements of all the Sonatas and Partitas was a ten-year process where we kept coming back and refining. So there was a big process of living with ideas and keeping some and scratching others. Then learning this Allegro in particular, maybe 6 months or so. I think of myself as a slow learner, but that has the advantage that it gives me lots of time to work out how I want to interpret things. As far as prioritizing, for me it was great to gradually work at a large body of the music. I'd advise working at a few pieces, don't try to get to the end result, just keep coming back to them. Be diligent, but also somewhat carefree. At some point you will see that you have really got something you like. Very best to you and yours!
Anytime I get to watch a new video of Heather DeRome........that is a good day!
