    I mean to be fair that isn't just any truck and yelling at the guy doesn't help. I'm sure his day was shitty enough knowing he lunched a viper motor. I noticed you waited for the point-by indicating to me that this is just a regular HPDE day. It easily could've been any stock vehicle out there that happened to lunch it's motor. Usually at those days not everybody is in a fully prepped car.

    • @316racingchannel9
      @316racingchannel9  Год назад +6

      And just to be fair Robert and so you know the whole story, the guy worked for the organization as an instructor and that is not his track car but merely his daily driver that he drove to the track to instruct a student in the novice group. The truck is not set up for tracking and should not have been on track period. It's dangerous. You even noticed that he didn't give me a point by on the safest part of the track to pass but instead gave it to me in an off camber tight turn and on the wrong side to boot. I kept putting my car in his side mirror so he could see me to give me the point by and he didn't do it. There was a train of cars behind me and he only gave 1 point by on the safest part of the track to pass. He was too caught up on trying to keep his truck on track. It's so obvious that there has been zero suspension work done on that truck. I'm all about safety and that was an unsafe situation. If he wouldn't have taken his truck on track, he would have a motor today.

      @@316racingchannel9 I live very close to mid-ohio and WAS surprised by that point by after madness. I wouldn't have the balls to take it, you did well. I don't like that as a passing zone for an HPDE. Are you saying they wouldn't have let that truck on the track UNLESS it was an instructor? I was thinking you were just saying either A: The truck's PACE was dangerous or B the truck's PREP was dangerous. I'm trying to say that there are always slow cars out there and it's always possible to blow a motor even on a highly prepped car. Neither of those things by themselves is more dangerous than a crappy driver in a GT3 (Pace) or a great driver in a car that just blows (Prep). IF they "bent the rules" to let the truck out there because he was in with the organizers that's a whole different thing.

    • @316racingchannel9
      @316racingchannel9  Год назад +2

      I agree with you on taking that pass when I did, it was hairy I ain't gonna lie but me and the 8 cars behind me were so aggravated at the fact that he is an instructor and didn't give a point by to us on the safest part of the track, I took it anyway. Probably a poor decision on my part because, as you know, we don't have to take the pass if we feel it's unsafe, so shame on me for that. A lot of us drivers felt like the rules were bent for this gentleman. Being 100% transparent with you Robert, we don't know for a fact that the rules were bent, and we'll never know, but it's certainly what everybody thought. At the most, he should have driven that truck in the novice group. Would have been at least a little safer. Have a blessed day Robert and a great weekend sir!

    Was it just a ram truck or a Viper truck and is it like a mustang club or is it a track day that anyone can use the track

    • @316racingchannel9
      @316racingchannel9  Год назад

      Hey Paul, no it was not just a ram truck, it was indeed the viper truck. It was not a mustang club, it was an hpde event that anybody can pay the $649.00 entry fee and do with a proper track ready car. Have you ever done an hpde event? If so, what car do you drive?
      This gentleman driving the truck did not pay the $649.00 fee to get on track like everyone else. He worked for the organization putting on the event. He was there to work. He has a racecar but didn't bring it to work, he brought his truck instead. We didn't think it was fair for him to take his truck on track and screw up everybody's time that paid the $649.00 fee. He got us all black flagged and kicked off track. Which took away from our time on track that we paid for. Also, if you've done an hpde event, you will know that you can't pass anyone on track unless they give you a point by. For him to not give me and the 5 cars right behind me a point by on the straightaway, which is the safest place on track to give one, is not correct. Instead, he gave me a point by in a hard turn, which is doable but not near as safe. He should know better and play by the rules. A bunch of people have given me sh*t on here for yelling at him but I was frustrated with the whole situation cause he just had to get on track with what he brought, his truck, and it took away from everybody that actually paid money for track time. So yea, everybody in that group was pissed, not just me, cause it was not right. Not to mention, we drove over 11 hours to get there to do the event so the last thing anybody would want is for someone to screw up their time on track when it could have been prevented plus the gentleman would not have blown and lost his engine if he didn’t insist on getting on track. Engines are very expensive, as I'm sure you know. Hope that clarifies things for you. Thanks Paul.

He was chompin at the bit to drive so bad he talked the guys running the event into letting him take it on track, which was a big mistake. Everybody there in our group was pissed cause he got us all black flagged and kicked off track. So we lost a good bit of our session that we paid for. Just wasn't a very smart move. Yea, no worries, this was what's called an HPDE event. You are not allowed to pass a vehicle unless given a point by, by the driver in front of you. If you noticed, he pointed by the white car but did not give me nor the 5 cars right behind me a point by on the straight. He should have and didn't. I was playing by the rules. That was frustrating, watching the white #24 GT350 miss the braking points (and be so abrupt on and off braking in the process), turning points, and generally not looking in the mirror. All of the track decals on the rear glass indicates the white 350 should have been more “track aware” and let you pass 2 laps before the truck entered the field. Watching some other recent videos, I saw that same white 350. Is it safe to assume you know the driver and maybe he/she was not getting vying the point on purpose?😅

    He paid his money just like everyone else. We all had to learn at some point. Could have been his first time. Plus he helped you gain a little bit more experience for your future in racing. Instead of being mad at him, find him in the pits and and give him some pointers to help him get to your level. Just my opinion. We're all on the same side.

      I agree and good points. There is so much more to the story though and I've told it numerous times on here. He didn't pay any money, he worked for the organization, he has racecar but didn't bring it. Brought his truck instead. No offense but I'm tired of telling the true whole story. You can look at some of my past recent responses. Thanks man and have a blessed day.

      I wish that was the case. He has a racecar and didn't plan on driving at the event but once he got there he couldn't help himself. He had to get on track in his stock truck. It's just dangerous for anybody to be out on track with a vehicle that you can't see out of and isn't track ready. He knew better but couldn't help himself. I'm just glad no one got hurt including him.

    Interesting to see how little full power could be used and was an advantage compared with the many times weight would be a disadvantage. Compared with a lighter car that had more grip and adequate power.

    nothing wrong with bringing an srt-10 to the track, it has upgraded suspension and obviously way more power from the factory. I'm sure slower cars have been on mid ohio, plus he was following track etiquette.

    • @2iBMX
      @2iBMX 5 месяцев назад +1

      No he wasn't, he should've signaled the camera car to pass. Even if his truck had 1200 hp, camera car out corners him 20 fold. He indeed should've stayed off the track. This isn't a drag strip.

    The SRT10 guy should have got over and he’s an idiot for blocking obviously faster cars which is a no no on open track days. On the other hand, it’s wasn’t the 24hrs of Le Mans.
