Leather production is extremely harmful and uses more resources than anything else. I have looked into that topic for a very long time, I have even calculated the CO2 figures. However, I found it disturbing to argue with CO2 figures when at the same time, we are talking destroyed lives for humans and animals. That's why I am focussing on the ethical aspect.

The leather used in car seats is a byproduct of the meat industry. Whereas synthetic materials are damaging to the environment and add to global waste instead of subtracting from it.

I think you should have a word with Mercedes to get them to only use animal's free fabric if they want to sell their cars in China, as they use animal free fabrics.
Well, interesting to see that a dedicated EV platform has absolutely no advantage over a shared platform. The only negative on the i4 is the tunnel in the back. Otherwise, no other compromises.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I very much respect your beliefs from your videos and don't disagree with most of your arguments. I especially agree with your statement that we are influenced by others, just as you and I have been. I will always love my leather coats, shoes, and ribeye steaks. Future generations will be weened off of these things, but the wealthy will be the only ones who can still enjoy these luxuries. You should not deny that you also have been influenced. If you really believed in sustainability you would not do videos on cars. Even you grin at the rumble of a V8 or the acceleration of a 911 turbo. Reminds me of the old Bob Dylan lyric "everybody has to serve somebody". @@autogefuehl
You can enjoy the same luxury without harming animals being harm. That's what I fight for and it is already achieved. Who would I reach with my message for animals if I would do a "Thomas the vegan" channel? No I love cars and I try to make cars more sustainable. Louis Hamilton is a vegan F1 driver. You can be vegan and still enjoy life m8.
Get job Thomas M. & Thomas B.! An impressive car except for two significant flaws: capacitive curse and animal skins on the seats. Why not a high-grade fabric instead or does MB think Americans will only buy a car with animal hide? Makes no sense in a sustainable or ethical way. 🤔
Sci-Fi sounds and flashing interior lights to give you the auditory and visual feedback you lose going from ICE to EV? No thanks----I'll take the S63e when it comes out.
I guess Mercedes' market analysis decided that the customer base for that sort of car (i.e. millionaires+) don't care about the environment that much that they'd open an animal-free interior. Something that also bugs me about most car manufacturers is, that "animal-free" tends to mean "polyester fibre", and I hate that stuff. I'd gladly go animal-free if I'd get a choice of cotton or flax or whatever fabric seats. Can't be /that/ hard to produce now, can it?
Not often that cars make it into production so close to the original concept, and given some of your observations on the design compromises there is probably a reason for that… 🤔 Still without a doubt a completely stunning and utterly OTT car! 🙂
This will be a great buy 3 years from now after it looses 60 percent of its value. I am pretty sure the smart people will wait to buy one used at a huge discount while letting the dumb money get eaten alive by huge depreciation
@@dr-ok3sn There's also no support strut, so you will have to stick something in there to keep it up. And yes, inside is the 400V-supplied powertrain, which not everyone should mess with.

Which shops might take a commission to turn this into a wagon? The renderings are amazing. Due to Mercedes' horrible packaging job, there is no frunk at all. The Model S was gets smaller every incarnation, but Lucid Air has 670 hp on teh front axle and a HUGE frunk nevertheless. And that's a 25 cm shorter car than EQS. EQS is a liftback, nice, but let's have some WAGONS in the EV world, please!
The sound would get very annoying long term. Along with everything else, this car is a good example of you can have too much of a good thing. Lots of overkill...
Finally a cheap affordable everyday car for the masses, Which promotes equality and sustainability. Our "leaders" will love it. They will drive 30 km/h in the populated areas so we can better see them.
Why have we not seen any EQE reviews yet? Love the dark red colour. Don´t like the led strip in the front. Illegal, purely insanely dangerous(not a joke)! And in the north with our low low sun you are not visible(yes, I´m seriuos). And broken(drl/indicator) lights do not make it better. Merc can do better.
Korean cars with 75 kWh: also 200 kW charging. Mercedes may want to get closer to 3C charging as soon as possible. Or, when they can build these faster than people will buy them, I guess. Porsche also sand bagged the Taycan. It could have been lighter and a full Panamera, but they held back. Can't make enough of them anyway.
Star Trek sound effects? 👎🏼👎🏼 However, as long as you have the choice to hear it or not, that's cool. My infotainment screen is also called a windshield 😼

Dieses Siegel versichert zudem den Verzicht auf die besonders schädliche Chromgerbung und zertifiziert vorwiegend pflanzlich gegerbte Produkte.

In general, depending on the animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat would be the reason no.1 in other cases, the hide remains one of the most profitable body parts. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you accept it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and destroys the environment, you make them more profitable. Also, if you turn the argument around "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize how biased the argument is. After all, would you care for which body part you would murdered? Or imagine someone robs you on the street and beats you to death - would it matter to you if it was for your Smartphone or for your purse?
The animal agriculture industry occupies 2/3 of all farm land on this planet which cannot be used for direct human nutrition then. That is extremely inefficient. The no.1 cause for deforestation is the animal industry. It is also one of the biggest contributor to climate change. The amount of land, resources, energy and water being used is beyond imagination. If you are interested in how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: ruclips.net/video/tkjCAmq1_8E/видео.html
Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally.
For the alternative, you can either use artificial fabrics which can be made from recyclables (we have already shown a lot of vehicles that use great fabric seats from PET-bottles etc.) or more and more also from plant-based materials (like Pinatex). And even if you would create a seat completely with petroleum without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is nothing in comparing just to once fueling up your car.
In practical reasons, fabric or microfibre seats are just more useful. You do not sweat in summer and it is not cold in winter. And there are also new leatherette materials available which are superior in every aspect: ruclips.net/video/u94YXJ72UTA/видео.html
Using animal skin on seats is a major issue of animal rights, human rights - and after all just of common sense what is better both for the environment and just more practical and more luxurious for the customer. We cannot change what we have bought in the past (that also counts for ourselves of course!), but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.
@@autogefuehl Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately I am not talking about the unhuman food industry but only technically. Extrem positions either in favor nor against a secondary topic like animal right and so on are not my goal. A society and their collateral damage and ecological footprint are always wide spread and nothing is perfect, but in fact ecological and sustainable leather is better than other leader and plastic based recycled microfibers are not the perfect solution. I only would like you to be open minded also for other inprovements including all solution also leather even if so there will not be the 100% perfect solution. The „discriminating“ attempts against your plattform are of course to be negated and I am on your side. Best regards

Hey Thomas from Autogefuhl, what do the shift paddles do?
recuperation change!
206 inches is pretty long, just two inches short of the us market w126 long wheelbase sel, at 208.3
Yep it is
Long? Hardly. My dad’s 1973 Chrysler was 230 inches long.
Is the range mentioned by you wrong???

I like this design the front looks amazing like aerodinamic and threatening like with the mat gray with black accents i think the car have good features but the price is Also forbidden it's expensive as hell
Its like enterprise launch warp speed
Great review as always, but these EVs are not that exciting, I don’t feel connected to the machine, it’s not rewarding to drive.
AMG badge is a joke, since there is really nothing different other than software to allow more acceleration and some add on bits. Not a true AMG.
As a vegan, I appreciate that you call it animal skin. People should be more aware of what was sacrificed for their seats.
Highly appreciate it, thank you so much for caring!
The leather used in car seats is a byproduct of the meat industry. Whereas synthetic materials are damaging to the environment and add to global waste instead of subtracting from it.
Not a byproduct.

This is another Beauty from MB but for the first time ever I have to confess that ALL EV,s for me, are nothing but electric forklifts in some warehouse making electrical winding noise. MB as always ahead of the curve. And I loved that you could go soundless by choice.
We like leather seats brother…. Specially if we are paying over $120k for a car

EQS 53...makes me think there will also be a higher power 63 (or something like that) at some point. Too bad theres no two-tone paint.
There is no two-tone paint for the AMG? The EQS in general does offer that
Ergonomists everywhere fainted
I think you should have a word with Mercedes to get them to only use animal's free fabric if they want to sell their cars in China, as they use animal free fabrics.
yep I have been addressing that, and soon more news to this topic @ Mercedes here on our channel!
Well, interesting to see that a dedicated EV platform has absolutely no advantage over a shared platform. The only negative on the i4 is the tunnel in the back. Otherwise, no other compromises.
The Tunnel is filled with Batteries...and with better seating Position for the lower foot area due to this "hole"
Really wish it had bmw Alpina wheels
Like your reviews but wish you would keep your animal vs petrochemical options to yourself.

I wait for the fly cars ,,,
Get job Thomas M. & Thomas B.! An impressive car except for two significant flaws: capacitive curse and animal skins on the seats. Why not a high-grade fabric instead or does MB think Americans will only buy a car with animal hide? Makes no sense in a sustainable or ethical way. 🤔
Thanks Robin!
I don't like at all the exterior look, specially the side look, idk maybe it's the wheels tht make it look bad, or the hood that looks weak. 2:20
Sci-Fi sounds and flashing interior lights to give you the auditory and visual feedback you lose going from ICE to EV? No thanks----I'll take the S63e when it comes out.
Mmm no. AMG Sports comfort pillows. This is such a confused model for the EQS.
More on this very soon on our channel!
What a great sound, really like the electric sounds made by these car. Even the VW ID.4 GTX sounds great
I absolutely detest those fake electric sounds. It's a CAR, not a video game for god's sake!
That's crazy that they don't let you open the front hood. Just seems wrong, regardless what's there.
you can actually open it, but there’s nothing you can do underneath
@@dr-ok3sn There's also no support strut, so you will have to stick something in there to keep it up. And yes, inside is the 400V-supplied powertrain, which not everyone should mess with.
If You are in US, please reach to Rivian to do Your great test of R1T. R1S would be perfect but even You could not get one at this point, or...:) Make Lucid as well as direct competitor to EQS
I ll try to when i m back next time!
@@autogefuehl And tell Rivian to start fast with european factory. I want my R1S before 2025;

I'd like to see that car in a eurNcap crash test...
Did you ever test a chinese car?
Are u subscribed? Wey test coming up
Finally a cheap affordable everyday car for the masses, Which promotes equality and sustainability. Our "leaders" will love it. They will drive 30 km/h in the populated areas so we can better see them.
AURUS SENAT 🇷🇺❤👍🚗
Why have we not seen any EQE reviews yet? Love the dark red colour.
Don´t like the led strip in the front. Illegal, purely insanely dangerous(not a joke)! And in the north with our low low sun you are not visible(yes, I´m seriuos). And broken(drl/indicator) lights do not make it better. Merc can do better.
More to the EQE hopefully soon here! So far: ruclips.net/video/0Mnlh0mz3z4/видео.html
These legacy manufacturers are still in first gen electric, they're testing still.

Fancy styling as often but quality screams mediocrity. In 10 years time everybody has dumped these cars.
