After almost twenty years looking for the international market and particularly the American market. Peugeot finally marks these ambitions through this concep, which is in addition to that, finally part of a visionary vision towards our future rather than an industrial follower. It is certain that the recent merger to become the STELLANTIS group has sharpened those fangs like never before. I wish him success as he wishes as he deserves it. For my personal feelings, this group wants to do battle with the international market and impose its vision of the innovative automobile, which should be renewed in the future at the expense of those who will henceforth be followers. I personally shed a little tear, towards this goal, which they still have to keep.
Long life to Peugeot and all of these brands, long life to STELLANTIS, whose brands we will follow.

Very retro-futuristic-concept like looks. Kinda reminds me how designers would go full out on projects in 80s and 90s. LOVE IT

Definitely agree with the "retro-futuristic" phrasing. Has a decidedly "Back to the future" look to it. It'd be interesting to see what the tweaking of this design might look like after wind-tunnel testing, if they decided to try to put something like this onto a highway.

Well... except that the aerodynamics would kill it, so to speak, from an efficiency, range and performance standpoint. Visually interesting, sure, but... as shown here, it definitely wouldn't just slip through the air in the way that any modern car needs to. I mean, the (envisioned) Cybertruck is somewhat in the same rolling-brick-on-wheels category that this concept car is, but in the case of the Cybertruck, that's a side-effect of the challenges in shaping the steel that they use for the body.

< slightly puzzled look > Especially as a concept car to strut out in front of a 2023 audience, I'm quite curious what the drag co-efficient would be on this somewhat-80s-vintage-futuristic design would be. What with slipping through the airstream being such a non-trivial consideration for any vehicle today, perhaps especially for an EV. Just focusing on the front end... not *quite* brick-shaped, but...
Have to chuckle at the autonomous aspect tied to that 2026 vision... taking advantage of Tesla having paved that path and made it an option by then.

🤔Like the profile but not the rear. Rear needs to be flatter. Give me a proper steering wheel any day. Also that last thing we need is t gamify the on-road driving experience as we have enough boy racers on the roads already ffs. Creating 'car meeting place' concept is unlikely to catch on and it can't be a social place unless the front seats can turn 180 degrees..

    • @patricksweeney6334
      @patricksweeney6334 2 года назад

"...that last thing we need is to gamify the on-road driving experience..." Yeah. That. As for the shape, I may be stretching my aerodynamics awareness here, but... I'm thinking that pushing an essentially brick-shaped front-end down the highway at normal driving speeds isn't an optimal design-choice. Perhaps *especially* in a concept-car.

Also did they didn’t learn from VW?
On the other hand the interior with that sport posture but confortable is very cool and probably confortable.
But make it autonomous is an error, for that i would prefer the metro or one of those autonomous toasters

    Bonjour

what car makers still don't understand is that you gotta have an empty space between the driver and the passenger, otherwise how is the passenger supposed to get a blow job? It's so frustrating, especially with famous brands like bmw and Mercedes, there's too much dashboard separating the two people inside the vehicle. It's time to put an end to this.

Disappointing. We are far from the Peugeot e-Legend... Here we have a monolithic block, with lines artificially stretched to the rear. It's a pity to see Peugeot presenting in the US for decades with such an uninspired "creation"...
Not even the joy of hearing a CEO with a charming French accent. No omelet du fromage. Everything is destabilizing here...
The former PSA group is now just good to send here its platforms and its efficient gasoline engines as well as its electric groups, to make Dodge, Chrysler, you got it... Especially since we have an abundant and cheap energy compared to Europe...
Let's be honest, this was not a merger but an absorption by FCA, which needed to appropriate the technology of a group that had anticipated the future. For Tavares it was clearly a personal ambition to lead a top 3 group before his retirement. Even if it meant the disappearance of PSA and 200 years of autonomy for Peugeot. C'est la vie !!

Well, think of it this way :.
-It was FCA that approached PSA.
-It was the Agnelli family that became the largest shareholder of Stellantis by far.
-The former Chairman of FCA, John Elkan, became the Chairman of Stellantis. He is the heir of the Agnelli family and the chairman of the family investment company that owns the Stellantis shares.
-Carlos Tavares does not own anything, he is just an important employee appointed to the position of CEO for 5 years.
-Tavares was approached by FCA to lead their futur group and fulfill his personnal ambition.
The headquarters of Stellantis is the former headquarters of FCA in the Netherlands.
-Finally, the brands of the former PSA are disadvantaged limited to Europe. Where Fiat brands are present in North America AND Europe with a prospect of growth therefore more important in the long term with ex PSA how-know.
-FCA coveted a group that had the technology it had not anticipated, while the Peugeot family had been divesting from the automotive industry for years and was looking for an exit.
Recent French economic history is full of identical patterns. For example Lafarge-Holcim or Essilor-Luxotica. We tell a story to the people so as not to offend national egos, the idea of a merger between equals, of a balanced power. This does not exist.

But International Financial Reporting Standards, or IFRS, mandate the identification of the company acting as the acquirer and the company being acquired; Peugeot is considered the acquirer for accounting purposes only"
Stellantis is no longer a French group.
Before 2021 PSA was and had its headquarters and nationality in France at Rueil-malmaison... Tavares has cancelled PSA's plans to return in the United States with Peugeot brand, since Stellantis already has many brands in this market.... No more interest. Just like DS which should slowly die in favor of Alfa which is present worldwide.
For FCA nothing changes after the "merger" the address of the headquarters is still the same in the Netherlands, in the same building, the Chairman is the same, the reference shareholder is still the same, only the CEO has been changed for 5 years .... As a simple new employee. If it gives satisfaction it can be renewed

@@maxd.629 This is your fairy tale, votre petit histoire, and you have the right to believe in it.
PSA was in much better financial condition and it is incomprehensible that FCA managed to get its hands on it. But you have to put into perspective the Carlos Tavares determination ambition to lead a top 3 group, and the appetite of the shareholders for the sale of the Italian equipment manufacturer Comau as well as the free distribution of the French equipment manufacturer Faurecia. Not to mention the merger bonus paid to all shareholders... So it is hard to resist when you are promised so much money as an investor. And it doesn't matter if PSA, France, all that disappears into FCA. Carlos Tavares has maneuvered well, the Peugeot family has been able to disengage itself even more, to reinvest in the more profitable human services market. The Agnelli family remains at the helm of Stellantis just like John Elkan, the headquarters, nothing changes for FCA.
We will talk again about what is left of PSA and of France when Carlos Tavares leaves and is replaced by a pure FCA product recruited by the Chairman and endorsed by the reference shareholder Exor (Fiat family) in the face of precarious and fragmented French shareholders.

I think there's no more in the big car companies, staff that bring new inventions, you don't innovate another type of vehicle. The mechanical principle has never come to terms well with electronic elements. Instead of beating the pace on the spot, it is better to look for new technical and technical principles that can really bring a new technological wave to the vehicles.

@@dima_zen , The first observation is that the support support (chassis) is practically idenitic like the other vehicles currently existing. The steering system probably remained the hihdaulic one innovated in '94, the suspension systems innovated from '54. All the vehicles have the same technical-mechanical components on the inside. 3 or 2 pedals depends on the transmission, steering wheel, wheel fastening system, suspension system. These are what they are today, without creating and developing new mechanical principles and technologies. Due to the fact that no one is dealing with new inventions on the mechanical side anymore, it pulsed to the electronic side, desing the interior / exterior. I can't call it auto novelty, at most improved look.

Cobalt batteries ? What are you talking about ?
Besides, "harmful to the environment" is a very loose notion. And petrol cars do not seem very viable either. Fuel prices have been steadily increasing since a long time now and it will only get worse.

      @GenMaster 2 года назад +1

@@arthurhq5741 It's not a loose notion at all.
Fuel prices have been increasing abruptly (and purposely) only because of the by-proxy war in Ukraine, not because of a shortage in natural fossil fuel resources.
Not to mention most of the electricity our cities run on is produced by powerplants that run on fossil fuels 🤣. The amount produced by renewable energy sources is only a minor percentage.

    • @arthurhq5741

@@GenMaster It's very vague. Electric cars do have an impact on the environment but it's not the same as with ice cars. Electric cars centralize pollution to specific locations. And I think it is better to pollute soil for mineral extraction in a specific place rather than polluting the cities we live in (and the entire atmosphere actually).
No, fuel prices have been increasing before the war in Ukraine (and before the covid19 pandemic). The price of crude oil has been increasing since the 1970's. It's not a shortage per say, it's just that extracting oil becomes more expensive as we are going from more accessible deposits to less accessible ones.
