besides that, this was a great way to address whats determined as skillful, and the issue of the player base not necessarily thinking on their own. Keep it up defy ♥
Making and informed decision, really requires experience. As a player who doesn't get to play much the learning curve is pretty steep and I can only hope I can get to the stage where I can make one. Occasionally I get days where I can hit stuff but mostly I can't hit the side of a barn with a banjo. Keep up the great content it helps to keep me trying.
My feedback: I think it is good that somebody finally has decided to talk about that. "Think for yourself" is something what I often see people not doing. Even in real life, sadly.
I would say the important thing to teach people to be skillful is to teach about concepts and how they apply to planes rather than rigid tactics. As you said, wt is highly dynamic. Good video man :) Also rip donny xD
After flying all the ILs ever since the games release I am convinced that the ILs fill a niche that makes it a great plane. It's really good at punishing people for making any mistakes. It's like that coach that hits you on the back of your head for doing anything wrong, and the only way to stop him is to stop making mistakes.
This is an incredible video! Very well thought out and articulated points around thinking for yourself and finding your own style of fighting. Personally I agree with your point about high kill games as well. I don't find I learn from my high kill games because they are brainless stomps. The games I remember are the ones where I actually outplay enemies. 5 minute long dogfights where you're fighting tooth and nail for the little advantages to get that one shot lined up are some of the most challenging and rewarding moments in warthunder and are what keep me coming back to air RB. Keep up the great work on the videos!
6:14 Energy in kN xd No, but seriously a vid that I can fully agree with and a topic that I can also refer to myself in terms of these high kill games.
"find your niche" i guess there is something to that. i mainly play bnz/energy fighters and what i usually do is get altitude, wait to spot some targets, get speed and either dive on them or zoom past them with the high speed i have, while they are still slow climbing. if they do engage me and i have more energy, all i need to do is usually spiral upwards to stall them out. the bf109 series in particular is good at this. everything where i don't have the advantage (such as a spitfire being behind me when i am in a fw190) i react to it depending on the strengths and weaknesses of the planes. from a spit i would dive to a high speed and roll from side to side trying to make it overshoot, not much else is possible. sometimes you CANNOT DO ANYTHING and should just ask yourself how to avoid unwinnable situations
All Shturmoviks are head on beasts, with AP shells their cannons completely shred people coming at you, and you have enough frontal armour to withstand .50 cals up to 200m.
oh btw at 15:29 it's not the ko that costs 36k it's the otsu, the ko is the premium so of course.... (I mean yea it has to be affordable for most people)
Or a video on why you think allied teams seem to be struggling in the 5.7 range. I can't quite figure it out exactly, but do think of a few keys that are screwing them, just curious on your thoughts/observations.
How about a video made of a couple clips getting a few kills in short time with you taking about what was going through your head on why you were targeting those planes to make it a quick clean up. Preferably something in the 5.0-6.3 range with props of equal br.
People tend to underestimate the Il-10, thinking they can use the same tactics they learned fighting Il-2's. Some tactics still apply like shooting the wings and tail, but they underestimate its energy and maneuverability. I find it's better to actually get into turning fights against most planes except Japanese planes instead of relying on back gunner, as it just takes a few 20mils to rip the wings or tail in half.
Since i play wt I've been watching several ytubers giving tips and every one of them opinion about head-ons against attackers like IL-2 and above was the same: avoid them. 1.strong armament and more ammo dispensed for second, this in combination with experienced player who knows where to aim is deadly 2. they are flying tanks so more likely you will be the one that won't survive pure logic and people still think that fighter can kill every other plane because it's nimble XD
True that. I used to bring out the IL-2s for fun and fighters just dump their ammo at me. Sometimes I take headons, win some lose some, I even turn fight and dogfight fights. IL-2s when going fast can turn very well. Really enjoyable
Ok. I definitely understand your point about this plane at such and such an altitude facing such and such being a relatively pointless thing to talk about. How about more basic, generic stuff? For example, what is (generally) the best approach in a cloudy game? How do different maps affect your choices early game? Positioning, positioning, positioning... Im a long way from being any good and, as far as I can see, the best pilots always seem to be in the best position BEFORE dogfighting even starts. I’ve tried climbing and as long as I’m boringly conservative I survive and maybe get a kill. But if I go to help allies or head towards an enemy chances are I will die soon after. A lot of my progress will consist of simply getting more experience but I often have no idea of what sort of decisions to make before I merge with an enemy so sometimes it feels like I’m repeating the same errors without knowing what they are. Which is frustrating. There’s still too much decision overload for me to instinctively do the right thing but at least I sort of know what that is (even if I don’t do it) in a dogfight. What I have no idea about is where, on which maps, given the general plane type (turner, BnZ-er, all rounder etc) I should be heading. Is it better to stay with the team? What if they appear to have a death wish and head directly into fighter stream at middling altitudes? Stuff like this would really help me. By the way, my earned BR (non premium) is about 5.7. Experience level 50. I do get the occasional kill but I’d be happier if I could at least get one kill per game (and two or three in tanks, but I’m achieving this level fairly consistently). Is it better to try to survive a game (without the space climbing or AF camping) or better to not worry about dying as long as I get more dogfighting experience? All these questions are the ones I’d love answered. Cheers.
Well thats a lot haha, Trying to fight and lose will always be better than a cheesy victory (tickets, camping aa etc) Experience and knowledge is everything. Sticking with your team is a good way to learn, I dont do it anymore because I play for kills and more friendlies=less kills x) If you really feel like you make the same errors, record them or atleast review them yourself If you want to i wouldnt mind helping you with your replays either. Just send a few and tell me what you think went wrong for example
I totally agree, number of kills does not always equal skill. My first (and only) 8 kill match was in the first Do-217. Half of the kills were bombers (3 in the sad kingfisher) and the rest of my kills were either due to obliviousness or them f**king up. Yes, it felt great at first but at the end of the day, all I did was pew pew at some low tier scrub bois.
Perfect video again :-) Thank you so much!!! Can you make gameplay with FW190 A-8? It's quite difficult to play with this plane. It should get better FM and best way how to make it is upload video on YT and talk about problem publicly.
Thanks for the quick response! 800 and 16% here, I started off using 10% and have been raising it slowly over time. I come from a long background of FPS games so I’m used to a slower is better mentality. Knowing now that you can be precise with such a high sensitivity means I can keep raising it with confidence and find what works best for me.
I’m trying to grind Russian jets, I’ve been recommended to talisman the IL 10 (1946) and just attack ground targets to get constant RP. Is this a good idea?
Guns shouldn’t be a balance thing, every gun should be lethal as hell. It’s frustrating when playing with the Shvaks,23s, and all Hispanos but the MKVs that it takes so long to kill a plane, not like Mg151s where you just oof people. Hope gaijin does something. IL10 with 23s performing correctly would shit in everything that can get to
It's like RB is filled with Arcade players nowadays. The truth is that at the moment, I enjoy the fast paced gameplay of arcade more but I stick to that gamemode instead of bringing that to RB. If I want to fly RB, there is only one place for going headon. And that is when you literally have 0 advantages over the enemy plane or are damaged to the degree you won't be able to dogfight them anyways. Other than that, you just ruin your fun and everyone else's too...
You got 2 good points there. Think and easy kills are statists nothing more. Could have addressed the "sparks" excuse at the end since its kinda relevant because it is donnys way to shift the blame for the outcome of that fight and avoid thinking about his mistakes. Its surprising how players that think they are hot shit always use some form of that excuse when they get their asses handed to them.
despite how monke I am I do prefer getting a single good kill with a long dogfight or a long reversal than killing 4 or more people out of fluke. It's boring, I play the game for the dogfights, to feel like red tails, or Pearl Harbor, or Top Gun I give no fucks about how many people I kill, if I reverse a zero or outplay a spit lf mk9 with an LA7 i am happy, if I fight someone for ten minutes and he kills me I still enjoy it. I once had a 7 kill game with the J21 when it was still 3.3 and it was because everyone went head on and turn fought, it wasn't fun. And I was a real tryhard by that time.
This is unfortunately not an issue exclusive to War Thunder. In all my years of helping/training randos in rts, telling people to think for themselves rarely works, they just wanted an easy build they could repeat ad infinitum until they came across other people that actually could think for themselves.
Can i just agree 9/11 with 5:39... thank you🙏...👌 The players these days call you out for hacks and other stuff if you just outsmarted them with normal game mechanics. They have a average IQ of 2 these days. It's just so sad to see.
Well.. being able to aim well makes 90% of the difference. I've been playing this game for like 1.5k hours. Still can't aim for shit. But then when i pull that trigger, I might as well be firing purple dildos. So after ending up having to to do three to four passes on an enemy, whatever aerodynamic advantages i had worked for counts for fucking nothing. You can have an effective game experience by ONLY doing head ons.. if you aim well (it's fucking lame, but it's true). You can literally be a crosshair dog and only point with no consideration for aerodynamics..and still have a profitable long term gaming experience.
I am sorry but I choked when I read purple dildos lmao. I will be making some guides and il include aiming aswel, however I can't really give magic a tip that magically makes aiming better

I would just like to add. Try! Put yourself in situations and learn. For the love of god stop running to aaa people. Your just stunting your own growth. You learn much more from a failure than a cheesy victory.
@@wildgrunt8489 Its not as easy as it used to be with 109s high speed characteristics these days, but still completely possible. There will never come a time that you cant outplay an inferior opponent regardless of what plane he is in. How exactly do you think the old timers got good? By osmosis? No we put ourselves in tough situations fighting hard and learned how to get out them. You didn't have an option back then, its amazing how good you can get when you have no choice. P.S. I would just like to add. Try! Put yourself in situations and learn. For the love of god stop running to aaa people. Your just stunting your own growth. You learn much more from a failure than a cheesy victory.
Hank_HIll at the same time of that is what you have to do to win the game then...
@@wildgrunt8489 then lose and learn, period.
Hank_HIll good luck reversing people or defensive flying in a p47
@@wildgrunt8489 Its not as easy as it used to be with 109s high speed characteristics these days, but still completely possible. There will never come a time that you cant outplay an inferior opponent regardless of what plane he is in. How exactly do you think the old timers got good? By osmosis? No we put ourselves in tough situations fighting hard and learned how to get out them. You didn't have an option back then, its amazing how good you can get when you have no choice. P.S. I was doing it with a PS4 controller back then ;)
Hahaha I watch this on stream and ooooooooo did i laught IL-10 2OP one of the best "light" soviet fighters ;-)
Yes yes and yesssss, use brain people i know we all make a mistake do stupid moves etc...
But when you use brain it heppens a much less then when you just brainless go low with bombs and Rockets or force head on, not to mention team work, deng if team is split all over the map there is a big chanse that enemy will gang bang you one by one.
