- In this installment of my long running thoughts on series, I share my take on the 2025 Oscars Nominees. Does The Substance stand a chance to win best picture? Does Emilia Perez really deserve so many nominations?

I recorded this video before the recent firestorm of controversy surrounding Emilia Perez's star Karla Sofia Gascon blew up online. After all of that? I am even more confident that Emilia Perez is not winning that many Oscars at this year's ceremony. And Gascon in particular stands zero chance of winning the award. The bad PR would be nuclear for the Academy if they gave her an Oscar and awarded the film with numerous awards after such a viral and public controversy.
I hope you're right. If Emilia Perez does win Best Picture, it will easily be the worst to do so since Crash.
I don't think there is anyway Emilia Perez wins anything significant now after that article dropped on Gascon.

@@Ribelin2000 as someone that has loved the recent horror cinema releases making me such a major horror guy again, I think we needed a big handful of Oscar nominations:
Godzilla Minus One should have won best original screenplay, not vfx
Longlegs should have been nominated for best cinematography or actor
Saw X should have been nominated for best actor
Talk to Me could have been nominated for best directing and original screenplay or once again, actor
Eight for Silver should have been nominated for best original screenplay and cinematography
And Nosferatu, easily nominated for best cinematography and actor or actress
Also.....yeah, Terrifier 3 should have been nominated for best special affects. No Joke.
Please try to reply to this as soon as you can, I'd love to know your thoughts on these if I'm able to. I'm the kind of guy that wished the oscars mattered because to me it should be about salt of the earth type winning a major award for making truelly unique content and not discriminating against a genre just because it's horror.

Dune part 2 should have atleast win best Cinematography, best visuals and best sound at the very least
Maybe someone can explain to me why many people take the oscars,emmys, etc so serious cause to me it's just regular people's opinions I don't see how the judges opinions are superior opinions to rest of us
Apparently they think their opinions matter more than an average pleb because their more wealthy
It's a tradition. It's been a Hollywood institution since the 1930's. It's not even about the opinions, it's about the hardware and being able to have the pull of being an academy award winning director or actor to add to your resume.
@@FreddyLittt its not necessarily from the academy its many just average joes like myself who think these awards are the be all end all awards and I dont ever get why.
@@OcpCommunications still though imagine if you or me gave an award show to these celebs and they had that on their resume it wouldnt be taken as serious but because it comes from people who can provide actual golden statues they are automatically more "credible" so it sounds like the rich looking down upon the less rich but that is for another conversation.
The Brutalist and Emilia Pérez will win most of the main awards. I hope Dune pt 2 and Substance win big. Conclave was boring political theatre.
Emilia will win like 2 awards tops after the PR firestorm. Looks like Zoe Saldana for best supporting actress and El Mal for best song. I doubt it will win most of the major awards.
