How do you turn on grade light indicators on exterior of screen

Hit the Menu button, go to control, and go to Equipment setup at the very top. Just hit next though the first 3 screens I think and you will get to light bars and you can configure them how you want for cut/fill etc.

This particular video is for inside the machine. To my knowledge there are no light bars on pocket 3d.

Hit File, Go down to active, Hit Surface and select the surface you want and that will make it your active grading surface and give you your cut/fills again.

Is it possible to create a flat plane surface(with the machine as you did in the video), without having the site calibrated and having the base station setup?
You mentioned something about"just being connected to a network" could you elaborate on exactly what that means. My intention is to use the flat plane feature before the site is "setup" if that is possible.

You can go to the radio settings a do a "direct network connection". This utilizes the SIM card in the SL-100 modem in the machine to get base corrections from a public or private VRS (virtual reference station) network. I made another video showing how to do it on a Komatsu excavator. I should do something more covering the topic because networks are becoming more available.

How can you make a flat plane without a base station connected?

And I’m not a technician but I’m pretty sure you need a base station on site unless you’re using a site link type setup that pings off cell towers. Our company is looking to move in that direction vs having to buy multiple base stations and data collectors.

You have to have some sort of correction source (base station or cellular). If you have a public VRS Network in your state you can utilize the SL-100 modem to connect to the VRS via cellular. Can work good if you have good cellular and a decent network.
