Hi guys! Hey! Did you know that if you want your strawberries to have a really intense flavor you can do two things! 1) Keep them in the sunlight until they're pretty warm to the touch (the natural but longer way) 2) Microwave them in 10 second increments until they're warm to the touch (the faster but not as natural way. lol!) Sunlight and heat breaks down the sugar stored in the berries and causes them to become sweeter and more intense in flavor! (I learned that from a gardener, and it's totally true! I tried both ways!). So if your strawberries are kind of bland or sour, now you know how to fix it! :D
I love strawberries. Summer in Central California is amazing for strawberries. we have such great soil for so much produce, summer is asparagus and strawberries and we are the main producers of asparagus. Both are HUGE in the summer. A lb of asparagus can be 8 stalks and a basket of strawberries can have only 5 in them. Farmers markets are amazing in the summer for that reason.
Guys, those are gorgeous, sweet, plump, juicy strawberries, especially for a greenhouse! Satoshi looked like he was in paradise when he said, "I'm so happy!" LOL! Oh, how I wish I were there with you! Thanks for sharing the great experience!
Hey guys! Currently we are filming in Hokkaido so we will get back to your comments when we get back. Thanks for watching and hope you guys are all having a fantastic week!
Thank you for sharing this eating adventure with your viewers. I was worried that you would run out of time and not get to eat more strawberries. If it were me, I would have filmed for only a few minutes and spent the other 25+ minutes eating as many of those delicious looking strawberries as possible. I kid you not, but I was on the elliptical machine at the gym while watching this. Almost drooling. I could imagine how they tasted, based on the expressions on your faces and descriptions and the close ups. They looked amazing! Please share with us how the ones you brought home taste, in comparison to the fresh picked ones.
+ASiteSeer omg, it's so true that filming took up more than half the time so we honestly didn't have much time to eat! lol. But we really did it so we could share this experience with you guys. Glad you enjoyed watching this one!
Those strawberries looked so delicious! I'm so glad you two got to go. They are the best when they are fully ripe like that, and even better when you get a chance to pick them yourself or get them soon after they've been picked. They're also such a healthy treat, so full of vitamins! You can feel good about enjoying them. We are so lucky here, as there is a long growing season for strawberries. We can get local strawberries approximately from May through October. Some of my friends grow them in their gardens, too! They are the lucky! Best wishes to you both.
we here in germany have strawberries from Mai to August. My kids and I go pick strawberries to make jam each year. From Mai to August we eat them almost everyday, fresh, on cake, in cake, as jam just any way we can get them. And they are grown outdoors right in the eath so in summer you will see giant feelds of them. There are farms where you get strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and all the other delicious soft fruits to buy or to pick yourself. Can't wait. Thanks for sharing.
I haven't seen strawberries that pretty and that tasty in years. Even the ones from the Farmers Markets have hollow centers and are pretty generic tasting. You guys show us the coolest places that many of us would never know existed other wise. Awesome video.
You guys are so lucky! I bought a flat of strawberries last week that looked so delicious, but they were crunchy, dry, and sour - yuck. I'm glad you both had a wonderful experience. Thanks for sharing with us!
+Yoshiko Yeto oh gosh, that's so disappointing. You know, strawberries in Japan are pretty much all sweet. Of course some sweeter than others, but most of the time, we never get sour ones. But then again, they are quite pricey here. Thanks so much for watching Yoshiko san!
Very cool ---I saw some strawberry seedlings at the garden shop the other day and was wondering if it was a good time to plant them. Now I see it's also a good time to eat them... ;) Thanks for spending some of your precious eating time to film this!
That is absolutely fantastic! What a beautiful place. It's like a dream come true. All those beautiful strawberries with such lovely vibrant colours, all full of magical healthy properties. Wonderful! Ichigo paradise. Yay! :)
Those look so delicious. For a different dip with fruits just mix together Sour Cream with a little Brown Sugar to your taste. It is so good with any fruit, I love green apples dipped in it.
🍓strawberries are the King of all fruits in my opinion!🍓 Every year I go to a local farm near my home and they let people pick as many as they can in either your own container or one they rent out for only a few cents. I pick TONS of strawberries and it costs next to nothing😃 yes, there's nothing like eating a freshly picked strawberry😋. I pick so many that I end up washing and freezing most of them to use later in my Mom's secret strawberry bread recipe😊💕
Strawberries are cheap here right now, they are 2 lbs for $5.00 so you could get almost 8 pounds for 2000 Yen but they are not as beautiful and big and sweet as the ones you were picking. That looked liked such fun!
Those look beautiful! Home hometown of Oxnard, California, hosts the annual Strawberry Festival, and I really miss the strawberries there. As you noted, strawberries here come into season in the summer, although they're produced for longer seasons in Oxnard because they ship their strawberries all over the country. I've never had them with condensed milk, though--it sounds delicious! We often eat them with whipped cream.
Beautiful jewels! I should try the condensed milk, it probably cuts the slight acidity as well as being a sweet dip. We get strawberries nearly year round here in Los Angeles. Right now a large basket, about 12-15 berries, is $2.50 at my favorite store. And I can eat a whole basket in one go as well! A few years ago, the strawberries were amazing. We were walking at the Farmers' Market, and the scent of them was making me nearly pass out with joy! I don't think we have "U-Pick" for strawberries. But there are places that have cherries and peaches and other stone fruits within less than an hour drive. Hard to get there during the peak season for the cherries, it's coming up soon, though. Thanks for taking us along on a wonderful food adventure!
I have never tried condensed milk with strawberries before! I got a pack of them and tried it! oh my god its super yummy! I used to put sugar on them. but this was mucb more enjoyable! also I picked fresh ones when I was a kid and nothing tastes better! Cool video!
That really looks amazing! But I admit I could never just go around, picking any strawberrys and eat them without washing them before. But you guys for sure look like you had fun!
I can't pin your accent! You speak perfect English and your Japanese sounds amazing! Where did you grow up? I'm envious of your ability to transition so well from language to language!
I LOVE STRAWBERRIES. This farm wouldn't make it with me as a tourist there hehehe. Good to see the bees :), they are dying off, sadly in some parts of America.
I used to go to a farm and pick strawberries and had to pay by the pound. I would pay and then eat them right away with whipped cream in my car. Yummmmm!
I just had half a pound of strawberries and am quite full (they were maybe like 6 strawberries, some HUGE ones though). Quite full! Can't imagine eating 30-something! I shall try the Japanese ones. I actually prefer strawberries to be slightly sour. I also know Japan has white strawberries, but they are super expensive.
Is it me, or do the strawberries in Asian taste sweeter than some of the ones in the US (though the ones we tried on the farm in the US were pretty dang sweet)? The ones in Japan look similar to the ones in South Korea (longer and narrower). No need for condensed milk...so sweet!
+UUtvProductions no we agree with you guys. Everytime I go back to Hawaii, strawberries are always on the sour side. Even vegetables taste better here I think.
***** you know, one of my (Shinichi) favorite cuisines is Korean. LOVE Korean food. When I lived in Hawaii, we lived very near the Korea Town near Keeaumoku. Most of our neighbors were Korean and my best friend throughout school was Korean. So yeah, I guess you could say I grew up on Korean food!
+TabiEats I'm sure it's the same in Japan, but the food in Korea is sooooooo much more amazing than Korean food on the mainland (which of course makes sense). I'm (Charles) currently in Korea and the food is so so so good! Everyday is so much fun to eat.... +DailyBread2007 yes yes! you noticed!
You two bring so much joy to my day with your videos. Thank you!! お疲れ様でした!
+Kevin Futamachi aww thank you so much for the kind words. That makes us extremely happy. Cheers and have a great weekend!

Beautiful video, look at all the strawberries. I want to go there!

Strawberry shortcake is my favorite love strawberry

+NYC Emma we hope one day you can try out our sweet Japanese strawberries. It's starwberry heaven!
I hope so too. I have always wanted to go there. I have traveled extensively but I just never made it that far.

+Critical Eats Japan yes it's a great time to eat them especially fresh! So sweet!
+Sakura Spring it's strange but they were so clean. No dirt on them whatsoever so no washing needed. We simply pick and they go right into our mouths!
Reminds me of Cardcaptor Sakura when they picked strawberries.
That place was strawberry paradise. Strawberries won't be any good around here until maybe May. I want them now...LoL. Awesome adventure guys
+Cat Sieja so glad you enjoyed this one. These were so sweet we're already craving more!
Such a nice activity. I hope ill do that with my boyfriend someday.

I am sure they are much sweeter than ours. I always have to add sugar when making something with strawberries from here.

Here in Brazil the strawberry season is on middle winter. The plantations. growing in the open. We not use greenhouses.
+Ernesto Tani I think that's more natural. We want to pick strawberries in the field one day.
Im so hungry for strawberries now!!!! YUMMY
+Larry Stylinson shippers unite already craving more!
I love strawberries!!! Unfortunately most strawberries i've brought are kinda sour but i will like it! Japan strawberries look so gooood
+MySmileIsntFake897 the strawberries here are wonderfully sweet. Most strawberries in Japan tend to be really sweet.

AH, Amazing. My friend lived in Hawaii for a long and was pretty convinced you had to have spent some time on the islands. It was uncanny!
One of my Favourite Berries..I make Marmelade or Jam out of it..i love it also as it is or with Whip Cream .Yummy.

+johnny chang they only give you condensed milk. No whipped cream unfortunately.

We have a community park that only has Blueberries, Charlotte's Blueberry Park in Tacoma Washington.

+ThatDaniGirl ohhh I have never tried wild strawberries before. We'd love to try one day!
Is it possible to buy strawberry seeds from Japan? I would be interested.
LOL the strawberry is the first fruit of spring. It is also 100% edible from root to fruit (google that, you will be amazed how healthy the plant is). Here, the bigger the berry the poorer the flavour and the best flavoured ones are wild berries that are about the size of grapes.
I thought they are winter fruit?
+keeperofthegood that's so interesting. Here in Japan, it seems like the bigger fruits are sweeter. Maybe because they grow them indoors? Who knows. lol. One day we'd like to pick strawberries out in the field!

All you can eat! There would not be enough strawberry for me.....
+Frederick König well you actually only have 30 minutes. We tried but we ran out of time so fast! haha
