    Yeah, i agree with other comments. You should be standing away a safe distance of at least 12 feet. I bet your compaction was lower and moisture just a bit higher huh? Sometimes though aggregate does tend to fall into the hole with these types of material but you should not force your probe into it for you can damage tip of your source rod.

    Lifting the gauge with the source exposed? No bueno. Take constructive criticism here. And please, keep the gauge clean. That’s a stuck source waiting to happen with dirt and grime. Precision and cleanliness matter.

    Whoever said stay back 12 feet is wrong. I stay 5 feet but 3 feet is fine
