Naughty Dog was masterful by not follow the formula of “action first” to draw in the player. I would love to see you do The Last of Us: Part 2. Both Ellie and Abby are experiencing incredible trauma and dealing with it very differently, and I'd love to see you go through all that stuff.
Basically director/writer Neil Druckmann's intention for this game was to get you to that ending and have you WANT to save Ellie, even when the entire world is at stake. It was to make you feel that unconditional love a parent feels for their child and I'd say Naughty Dog more than succeeded at that, considering the second game got a barrage of hate mainly for leaning into the question that MAYBE Joel wasn't completely in the right for what he did and that MAYBE the Fireflies weren't so bad... Regardless, the sequel is INCREDIBLY interesting to analyze from a psychological perspective, I swear it turned Ellie from a 3-dimensional character to like a 5-DIMENSIONAL character. That barely even makes sense, but it does.
Bruce Straley is mostly to thank for for the first game and Neil the second. And to be honest after part two I had the exact opposite reaction of finding firefly absolutely abhorrent and finding Joel not that bad.
still have mixed feelings on the second one tbh , I understand what they were going for about different perspectives and stuff , but i guess the fan in me is upset over the brutal death of Joel and Ellie’s kinda sad ending.

Brava for doing this Georgia. This game was the nascency of video games becoming a legitimate form of art, entertainment, and story telling - all in one. I say this with a long history of enjoying video games (been playing since PONG) as well as a love for many other types of distractors from real life. The opening/setup/‘tutorial’ is simply brilliant in every possible way. Writing, directing, acting - masterclass! These are brand new characters and brand new story. We immediately like, engage, and care about these ‘people.’ Not an easy feat in ANY genre, let alone a medium of entertainment so many scoff at and write off as ‘silly.’ By the time the opening credits roll, (I gasped at what had just happened) I literally sat there staring at the screen with my mouth open for what seemed like forever. I put the controller down and walked away for 15-20 min. thinking about WTH I just witnessed. I came back, shut the game down, and restarted it so that I could solidify what I just sat through. With a resolved “Okay, so THIS is what we’re in for.” I pressed START to begin my initial journey. I’ve since played through it several times… the original - PS3, the remastered - PS4, and then again right before, and in anticipation for Part II. Loved it each time… and then Part II happened. Ugh… and I’ll leave it at that.
I remember when I first played this game. I went into it knowing only that it was a "zombie survival game". When I played through the intro for the first time I was literally left speechless, I actually had to get up and walk away to process what I just witnessed. It was the first and only times that a game has had such an emotional impacts on me., and I honestly believe that its one of the greatest and well executed stories/video game ever.
I am a psychology major. The Last of Us is a fantastic piece to analyze. I know I am so fascinated by the story of TLOU because it is incredibly psychological, which truly makes it a captivating experience. I admire your insights in this video.

Loved the relationship between Joel and Sarah, it hurt to see her die in Joel's arms
Oooh, we're doing the Last of Us?! Yes! There's no doubt going to be a lot to talk about when it comes to this game (games? ;) ), I feel. Not sure if you're going to do more on this, but here's hoping!
In any case, really enjoyed this episode!
i think that I will
I would love to see you do The Last of Us: Part 2. Both Ellie and Abby are experiencing incredible trauma and dealing with it very differently, and I'd love to see you go through all that stuff.
Such a great analysis! Thank you for sharing!
Ohhh god I’m ready to learn and cry
wonderful
The fact that ur analyzing one of my favorite games.... ughhh UR THE BEST
YAY
This game and all the work that went into it... total masterpiece 👌
@@yugen8195 Not really, I couldn't give a shit about Joel's death to be honest and I gave my fair share of trying to like the new characters, but the story just falls flat for me.
@@jeagerkej3171 That is a blatant lie and you know it. Bruce was GAME director, Neil was CREATIVE DIRECTOR AND WRITER. Neil wrote the script. ALONE. Directed the actors WITHOUT BRUCE. If your next comment isn't a complete retraction of this bold-faced lie, I will *really* start to push back...
Nah, Joel was still in the right doing what he did. With what infrastructure were the Fireflies going to mass produce and distribute a cure?
Yay! You took my advice to analyze the last of us, thank you 💙
I did !!
I woke up at 3 something cus of a headache. Couldn't go back to sleep. Really glad this vid popped to help pass the time!
i love this game, thank you for covering them!

So happy to see you cover possibly the best game ever made and one of my favorites
Thank you =^.^= meow =)

Thanks for sharing. Blessings on your day.

i love the last of us so much and somehow never suspected how good it would be for one of your reaction videos! i love this so much, the last of us part ii also has some very interesting themes on mental health and ptsd that i would love to hear your take on
If people enjoy the video and view it I would love to do more. So I hope people want more of it =)
Please do more The Last of Us videos! It's such a great source of interesting stories and character types!
I think I will
I only have caretaker tendencies with partners. But through the years I have minimized them as I have been taken advantage of in almost all of them without any love in return.
WAAITTT YESSS! This is what I needed that I didn't know I needed
Haha happy about that =)
PLEEEEASE DO MORE VIDEOS ABOUT THE LST OF US + THE LAST OF US LEFT BEHIND + THE LAST OF US PART 2 😭
one of my favorite stories of all time, there’s so much to unpack!! i would love love love hearing your thoughts on all of ellie and joel’s story! your videos are always so thoughtfully and well made, please make this a series as you did with arcane! i feel like there are a lot of similarities to arcane as well, especially vander and vi + joel and ellie!

Awesome game !! love all ur videos Georgia !!
Glad you like them!
I will never forget the first time I saw the beginning of this game. It caught both me and my other half completely off guard, a masterful piece of script writing, both of us were so shocked we couldn't help but well up
I don’t think I’ve ever cried as much as I have when I played last of us
it is a very heartfelt game
Awesome video I still get teary eyed when Sarah dies even though I’ve played the first game like 11 times
the excitement when i saw u made a video on them 😩😩
Yay thats great I hope you enjoyed it
Brava for doing this Georgia.
Great video, Georgia! I am definitely curious for your analysis between Ellie and Abby! Thanks, take care!
If it gets the views to warrant it I will for sure do that. I hope people enjoy it
Joel is a good dad though he works his ass off to have money to support her but at the same time he cares about her 100%
he is a good dad
He’s one of the best dads in video games history 😭😭😭
he is so wonderful
Bit he lies right to Ellie's face lmao 😅. Like how TF is he the "best"?
He saves her life from being thrown away?
@@lococortez8804 Wasn't his choice to make. Wasn't his place to lie about it either.
Do I understand why he did it? Sure. Do I agree? No, he basically wrecked him and Ellie's relationship with that sustained lie.
So throughout the game Joel's watch reads 02:15:39 the moment that Sarah died in his arms, and in some online promotional material from The last of us 2 it shows a gif of the seconds hand of the watch constantly bouncing but never moving past 39 seconds.
The watch is stuck, still moving but never moving past that moment in time.
So poignant
@@GeorgiaDow the writers did a really good job with this game
I love your breakdown of, potentially, the greatest most iconic intro in all of video games.
This is my favorite game. I'm so glad you did this video and hoping to see how you gonna react abt ellie's and joel's relationship ❤❤ great video
@@GeorgiaDow yay!!! Can't wait
Really out here doing one of my favorite characters in gaming. Well played.

This has been a fave game of mine, never played it though, yet it's my fave XD

Your analysis of the father and daughter relationship makes Sarah's death even more heartbreaking. 😭
AAA game studios should hire you as a consultant!
Please, make more about TLOU! 😅 I also watched the one about "The Lie".
Thanks so much =) happy you enjoyed them
Ohhh, I'm so ready for TLoU 1 and 2 analysis!
