Clip taken from Seven to One, originally broadcast on BBC Two, 24 February, 1979. I Don't Like Mondays would become their biggest number one in July 1979.
Fantastic fascinating video would of been 12 /13 when this was aired Sir Bob is an icon and the Boomtown rats are brilliant Rat trap was the UK no1 on my birthday ❤
Bob geldolf complaining about the state of music in 1975/76. The year queen released Bohemian Rhapsody!!!!! And Thin Lizzy released the boys are back in town!!! Need I say any more !!!
Terrible interview panel, interrupting and not listening and asking ridiculous questions with the expectation of them changing the whole music business.
1979: BOB GELDOF on MORALITY and the MUSIC BUSINESS | Seven to One | Classic Interview | BBC Archive 16.11.24 hello, from the rat infested garbage dump that is the great industrial northwest of england. how moral is geldof? i own some of his and the band's muzak. wear yer jamas down the pub and play the old joanna drink some beer and jump about after throwing some trash in yer neighbours garden... after taking umbrage with the front yard and eating some weeds... that was oirish punk rock. i have no problem with the music market trying to divest kids of their money (cashing in on the desire to purchase music)... as the music business is the most agreeable of concepts to my mind... exploitation is the way of the world. one of the bands i last saw gave it's badges away for nowt. as for one of the other bands it played on the same bill with, i dunno... they might have charged for their badges............................. kids being told they're homeless layabouts for merely traveling a few miles and having to kip out is part and parcel of the beauty of going to see a band..... dont let them tell you otherwise.
Bob was always a sanctimonious, pretentious irritant. If he put as much effort into parenting his oldest daughter as he did patronising the public she would be alive today. Cannot bear him.
@nectarinedreams7208 Sure, but at least I didn't let my underage daughter hang around with sleazy socialites while lecturing the world like I'm some prophet. Which eventually led to her overdosing. Godspeed.

I think for a lot of people, the image of him giving brexiteers the fingers....from his private boat, champagne in hand, surrounded by millionaire buddies, is the one that will follow him around.
He's very astute and fantastic with words. He's not lost it, he's still the same today - still got his faculties
When a person like him says they are anti-establishment.......

Both far better and more successful than The Rats..
What was the missing video clip that the presenter said would have been influential to Bob?
The Lone Ranger?
Nelson Mandela
This was the state of British society back in 1979..

I wonder how much of his $150 million he gives to Ethiopia?
1.50
He advocated for open borders so they could come and claim hotels paid for by the taxpayer. That makes him virtuous
