Thank you! My daughter just bought her first, new to her, mini and on the drive home the engine malfunction popped up. UGH! Stopped at a local mechanic and he pulled the codes for us. Turbo issues-he seemed to think its very minor. We made it home safely and so now to figure out whats causing the code. I'll start with what you said-all the lines/hoses! Thanks for the suggestion!

The half engine light was my last thing to tackle. Came across your video snd sure enough nothing was connected. Didn’t realize the extra pep I was missing by the turbo not operating!! Ordered new vacuum hose as the old ones were pretty worn out and not wanting to stay attached. Appreciate the video!!
holy shit dude. I also just replaced a thermostat and I am having the loss of boost issue. trying this tonight and will return back. I think I remember yanking on those boost cables accidentally when I was removing the turbo air intake. I have been chasing this problem down for like 4 months dude
just bought a 2012 coupe and i felt like it wasn't very fast but i havent owned a minis in a few years but this was my whole problem and now it it fixed. I kept getting an engine malfunction warning going up hills and it seemed like it had no power going up hill. Plugged in the vacuum line and turbo is squealin now! Thank you so much
Mini Cooper S R56 uses what is known as a Vacuum Operated Wastegate/Turbocharger Setup. It requires Vacuum to close the Wastegate.

I am having the same problem after doing a head job and thermostat job I get a half check engine light when trying to give it boost
This totally fixed my issue after I did the vacuum pump replacement. I finally got around to ordering the new vacuum lines, and I was trying to find a guide online on how to replace replace them.
I found one thread that said they had to remove the intake manifold. Did you have to remove that to replace the vacuum line?

Bro, i just bought a 2013 mini cooper s turbo. It's a non-runner, I put a new battery in and scanned it, it gave me p0237 code. Car has 110k miles. I have zero knowledge on minis or gas engines. Could it be turbo stop functioning?

Wastegate isn't above the starter, it's on the exhaust side of the turbo

I am having a noise (moooiiing) when I turn off the engine. And also the fuel consumption is way high... do you think is related to this?? Anyone? Any help is appreciated, thanks.
When is the last time you did plugs and coils? Mooing could be modem era dieseling.... unfired vapor being ignighted... outside of that get a compression test... and do not blip before shut off.
