Brad, seems like I've known you for such a long time and I've just found your channel. What an incredible build ! Looking forward to all your future stories ! Great job, thanks for sharing !
Thanks man! Yeah, it's definitely a lot more hands-on than we're used to in more modern stuff. I'm really looking forward to getting it out on track in the next video!
Side pod bar mounts- we had to fabricate a new one from galvanised 20mm conduit tube and a pipe bender, we then made elbow plates. The plates were bolted to the side pods, only then did we tig the elbows to the mounted pod bar, fits perfect and it's level to the ground
Fascinating to watch it come together so far. Was especially impressed with how many adapt-a-kits you had to fashion such as the gas tank holder, but it adapted quite nicely. Looking great so far in the B Philpot livery colors.
While in college I was a part time house painter to make some extra cash. One day during physics class I realized if you applied a charge at the tip of a paint sprayer...and a different charge on the surface, you could... Then I found out the process was patented in the 1940s. So I had to do my homework after all. Looking forward to the reveal.
I'll be a rookie in this series crapping my pants at the back of the grid with my limited experience in a Venom Ultima. I'll be mindful of the blue flags so please be kind! :D
@@BradPhilpot Not a chance! i can count on my hands how many times I've been karting , something has to be seriously wrong for me to be ahead! I think i may have bitten off more than i can chew and should stick to mechanicing haha
Looks great but that Nassau panel could do with being more vertical and lower, tucked down behind the front bumper bars for that authentic period correct look
I hate that look. I much prefer the angled way I did it. I always think that vertical look is ridiculously unnecessarily draggy. They changed to more of the style I chose in the early 2000s anyway.
Yeah - I had a few reasons. I think key was actually keeping content on this channel fresh, and that added to the opportunity to get this brand new kart. I also did miss the extra power of a two stroke kart.
Hi Brad, not sure if you were able to fix the pedal screws issue, but if I were you I would try the following: 1 - Let's say the bolt is 8mm diameter. With a 10mm drill bit, drill a hole (paralel to the ground) from one side to the other. 2 - Ask a friend with a lathe to machine a brass or aluminiun bushing with say 9.99mm OD and 8.01 ID. 3 - Insert the bushing through the hole, maybe with some loctite to keep it in place 4 - put the bolt through the hole that now should be paralel Does that make sense ? Sorry for butting in but I think bending the bolt will cause you lots of issues. Let me know what you think.
Thank you for the advice! I kind of managed to make it work - and unfortunately you lost me at “friend with a lathe” 😂 Your way is probably a better way to do it - but my bodge is working so far!
Isn’t that 30mm axle gonna go bending fast with a more bigger person in it ? I always thought that they were for children? And the bodywork looks still really low on the floor. And I hope you get that bolt fixed for the pedals because it’s gonna get wonky under driving. Color look awesome on that chassis!
They’re definitely not for children! This is how axles all used to be. Pedal bolts are fixed and the bodywork is low but I’ll find out more during testing this week!
@ lovely ! Hope it’s gonna be a rocket ship! I’m myself is waiting for the new season with my almost brand new Tony 2023 chassis and brand new build 2024 Rotax senior max.
Experimental build on a 1999 SOLO kart chassis using a gx 200 clone engine producing around 25hp on full efi. This build has required a lot of out of the box thinking, parts are just not available for a frame this old, I'm guessing you've found the same issue 🙂
@BradPhilpot lol cheers, have you considered doing like a "how to get into karting" video with different starter options and maybe what's suitable for different age groups? I looked into the club100 stuff a few years back.
3:05 your quitting GX UK? Hey maybe I could have your kart…… Great to see you taking on a new and bigger challenge though, can’t wait to see the onboard vids from them older karts!!
Now go get a engine from 98 as well, FA or FSA, and then go race it... You will experience a way of karting better than anything... Its amazing! Still attract various kart legends and top race drivers out in those cus of how amazing it is... GET IN !! ! ! ! At least what you do is not in the right directly... Now just all about going up in category within that era ;) 8-9 August, 100cc, Euro GP, all the best top drivers of the 100 series from around europe, its the biggest event in all europe.. Vojens, Denmark... Yes, bigger than anything Uk and italy or any other can come up with running the historic karts.. TRY IT ;)

@@BradPhilpot That does not remove the reasons for why you should run what i suggested :D Its a different level... Its not for fun its refered to as the golden era of karting... And, its very affordable, and it exists in Uk as well, and when you feel your up for it, then bulk transport trips to Europe for bigger events is possible as well... @@BradPhilpot Use windscreen adhesive- masking tape under the seat for both bolt mounts, apply a large blob of windscreen adhesive (shore value 70-90) to the large plastic washer sitting on the frame, bolt seat at the back, lower seat to it's final positon. Allow adhesive to go off for 24 hrs, drill bolt holes through the shaped rubber spacer, remove masking tape now you have a rubber spacer perfectly matched to the seat and frame.
@@BradPhilpot If you do feel the need to do something with the seat, you must use the highest shore A value adhesive. We also use this rubber polyurethane adhesive to bond GRP panels to bodywork, minimal movement and can be painted over without cracking.
