I absolutely love this edit that makes it sound like PTA is continually cutting of QT lol, I'll have to watch the original clip now
I know right? It's edited so Paul's like "stfu while I rant to you about your movie"
😅😅😅
Oh is that not really what happened I was thinking “well that’s what happens when you put those 2 personalities together in a room , 2 great directors who just want to talk and talk and talk forever” but is that not what happened in the whole clip ? It’s just the edit ?
QT letting PTA finish is the biggest compliment I've ever seen him give
The Tarantino parts are edited oit
@@adamJKpunk yes I know that but you can obviously hear him recede from interjecting in snippets

It reads oddly.
I remember the first time I walked out of theater after seeing this and liked it, but I was disappointed. I didn't think it was one of QT's best by a longshot. So, I didn't watch it again for about another two years.
But now I cant stop watching it and think it's QT's absolute best. I never thought I would out any other of his films above Pulp Fiction, but I have.
This movie is masterful. And people are right when they say that it really doesn't have a plot. And I say, that's why it's so special. It's a day in the life movie and you don't ever wanna leave.
The attention to detail, the characters, the music, just the fun that QT is having while making it is just on full display. If this were his last film, I'd say he went out on top. A+
I've always been put off Tarantino movies for their lack of heart and their prioritizing of style. But I make the exceptions for Once... which is a beautiful love letter to the 60s and Hollywood, and Reservoir Dogs which is my Tarantino favorite, for the central relationship between Harvey Keitel and Tim Roth, the closest he comes to genuine human warmth.

Imagine seeing this movie while writing what will become Licorice Pizza, I’d be so inspired.
he had that script written before watching once upon a time in hollywood
@@paulelroy6650 when did he say this
The more you watch licorice pizza the more you get out of it in my experience sort of like an homage while having an original story
@@lamzy4683 somewhere in the interview rounds for LP, he talked about how Alana got the script in 2018. It was something he had written before OUATIH, I assume because doing Phantom Thread all the way in London made him homesick. I do feel like before and during filming he took inspiration from Quentin though.
C'mon people do you actually think this kovie inspired licorice pizza? That was never the way or the reason PTA made movies
Sergio Leone on his favorite Cheers episode
Oprah Winfrey on Deep Throat
Jimmie Walker on Nanook of the North.
It’s QT’s master work … I’ve been saying this since I first saw it. It surprises me that this isn’t a more popular opinion. Glad one of my favorite directors agrees.
I think eventually it will get there, it just needs time. Still too early to be a "Classic" you know?
I feel the same as well
It was not uncommon to hear people talk shit on Pulp Fiction at the time. People are dumb.
I still think it’s pulp fiction. There’s a reason it’s considered one of the all time great films
@@Nimajneb42069 It’s a powerful, formative film. Iconic. But it doesn’t have the scope and maturity of OUATIH.
These podcasts are really great. I don't need to see much. This is like seeing a movie with the best professor in the country. Really great man.
So when are we gonna get Abraham Lincoln's thoughts on Taxi Driver?
Makes me happy once upon a Time in Hollywood gets more love every year. 👀💙
It’s definitely climbed up my QT fave list. Kill Bill(1&2 as one film) has always been top of the list, but I feel OUATIH is inching its way to the top as the years go by and rewatching his films. It’s so good and effortless. Pitt and Leo…my goodness what a pair. And him changing history to save Sharon and everyone from those hippie scumbag monsters is a wonderful thing.
Well the ending was pure joy!!! That´s for sure.

Best movie of 2019
I hope Quentin drops this 10 movie limit thing and makes more, its sure bleak to consider a future without his contributions
Up next, Gustav Mahler on Yummy Yummy Yummy.
This was one of the best films to see opening day with a sold out crowd. It will be hard to beat for laughs and reactions.
You can tell how much qt admires and respects pta because qt was chomping at the bit to speak but held back to let pta speak. I’ve never seen qt not dominate a “conversation.” Granted, this was probably heavily edited where qt was edited out, but I still heard a lot of restraint that he typically doesn’t have. I’m not really against how qt does this because he’s just very passionate about film and loves to talk about them. It’s definitely part of his charm, but I’m sure those around him get very frustrated.
I don’t think he did lol. This sounds highly edited
It’s edited lol
@@brendanlittle2498 I said it was probably heavily edited in my comment. Even still, in the segments where it’s not edited, you hear qt trying to speak a few times and holding back. He wouldn’t even do that typically.
Definitely his BEST overall film, then Django, and Inglorious are my personal favorite Tarantino.
PTA calling Quentin the Los Angeles expert when PTA’s movies are set exclusively in LA is a huge honor.
How about Pier Pasolini on Operation Gladio?
He’s seen it four and a half times? haha I like how he specifies the half
In this movie,
an actor playing an actor playing a movie cowboy killing movie villains;
an actor playing an actor's double, being a real cowboy killing real villains;
an actress playing the movie Sharon watching a movie featuring the real Sharon.
Martin Scorsese on Avengers Endgame.
Anyone else not love it? It was enjoyable but not even in his top three maybe four.
I don’t get all the gushing over it.
That's how I felt coming out of the theater, but the more I rewatch it, the more I appreciate it. Still probably not top 3 for QT but that's stiff competition.
Haneke on Iron Man?
I hope this is editing out QT’s response cause if not that was like trying to talk to someone on cocaine
These two totally need to get a room.
Reading 11/22/63 and this is basically a time travel movie where brad pitt alters history
Dafuck is this edit
Now PTA has Leo starring in his next film! LET'S GO!
Once Upon A Time in Hollywood is just im sorry but its boring when he showed me the character make a box of Kraft mac and cheese i knew i was not in for a real Quentin Tartino movie i was in for his most overzealous project ever there was so much he shouldve cut its insane because hes usually so efficient and so detail oriented i thought i literally got trolled because its truly not his style at all until the last 15 minutes and ugh dont even get me started but i hate how hes decided to started using narration its so lazy and hes literally never used it until the Hateful Eight and their it was pointless because instead of telling me someone poisoned the coffee just shut up and let the scene play out because you already showed me someone poisoned it so why are you telling me? Its the same in Hollywood he literally shows me the night of the killing and all the buildup but why are you telling me they left the movies at 11 at night when your literally showing them leaving the theatre and time of 11 at night is literally on the screen as well like Tarantino you used to respect my intelligence as an audience member now you think im too dumb to watch your movie and tell time?
This is why PTA is goated
dude stop with the BIll Burr bullshit videos..., that guy is the last person I want to listen to talk about film
I noticed Tarantino doesn't interrupt as much when someone is praising him.
That was frustrating. PTA is asking questions...but QT seemed to be answering them, you edited around that. Still, interesting hearing a filmmakers take on things.
Whats this from? Any links?
There’s soooooo much joy. Can’t believe it’s become my favorite of his over time but it’s my comfort movie.
No. The movie is terrible. Quentin’s worst.
Congrats on 50k!
it's nice not having to listen to Tarantino gush over his own movie for once.
Brad pitts best performance imo
Peter Bogdonavich on Star 80
Joe Biden on Caligula.
Growing up in North Hollywood this is QT best film next to Lady Snowblood ( Aka Kill Bill vol 1)
What an overrated movie.
PTA very astutely observing (and without being a TOTAL dick about it) that Leo sometimes phones it in 🤣
I think it has the most heart of Quentin’s films. He truly loves Sharon and made a fairytale where he saves her life and a couple of Hollywood misfits redeem themselves.
After cheering for the flakey cowards meeting their satisfyingly violent end, I was surprisingly emotional about her being spared and just wondering what the heck happened next door.
Quentin killed Hitler and Manson’s psychos and he saved Sharon Tate’s life…
I would be fine with Him making 20 more films where he revised history and corrected the outcomes with such verve and justice.
I was not Tarantino guy at all. I was good with his first 3 films but after that it was “no bueno” big time for me. I watched the hateful 8 expecting to hate it, almost wanting to hate it, but I was shocked that I really liked it. This film continued Tarantino’s redemption arc for me. What I really appreciate about this film in particular is that it’s less of the Tarantino patented dialogue(which I often found overly self reverential, diuretic, and cloying) with a lot more silence which allowed the characters to breath a bit more
I personally think Hateful Eight is about as bad as a QT movie gets -- in fact, between that and the (to my mind) vastly overrated Django Unchained, I had kinda started to write QT off and put him into the has-been pile -- both were so forced and laborious and self-congratulating and obnoxious and overlong, with many surprisingly uninteresting characters. BUT, I agree with you about OUATIH, which changed that for me. And part of it is just what you point out -- the characters have room and space to breathe in this movie. It's not overstuffed with dialogue and the dialogue isn't as obnoxiously "QT" as usual. It feels more natural, a little more mature. This one bounced off some of my friends but I think it's one of QT's best, up there with Inglorious Basterds and Jackie Brown and Reservoid Dogs and Pulp Fiction.
@@zerodreaming No accounting for taste 🤷♂. Yeah, I get not liking it - like I said, I expected to feel the same way. I can’t really answer why hateful 8 is different for me. I think maybe I’ve a soft spot for a murder mystery plot and the one room claustrophobic atmosphere appeals to me. I remember being very impressed with Jennifer Jason Leigh’s performance(especially in the 3rd act) - I normally don’t really like acting performances all that much in Tarantino films with a few exceptions. Beyond that I can’t really say why it was the film to break my dislike for Tarantino films - I’d have to rewatch it with that in mind and maybe still couldn’t figure it out. OUTIH is much easier for me to say why it works for me. I think it’s Tarantino’s best film
There are no bad Tarantino movies, just most and least favorite. This one is way up there for me.
Maybe not "bad" but there is certainly a period where they are average. Once upon a time is a return to form but everything after Kill Bill 2 to this one were forgettable...inglorious, hateful 8, Django are his worst 3 by some way. Jackie Brown remains his masterpiece.
Dude blabs on with such obsequiosity before even asking a question.
Has to be a top 10 film from the 2010s. Perfect way to close out the decade. Ends on a high note.
Watching Brad and Leo reminded me of Newman and Redford. Thank you both Quentin and Paul! You are masters of your craft! Gotta shout out props to Maya Rudolph!
Love that this is just Paul. I laugh every time Mr. QT tries to interject. As much as I love hearing him wax poetic, it's nice to just hear PTA.
It's always a privilege seeing a director talks about another director's work, I'm glad to know PTA & Tarantino admire each other, I might be wrong, who knows.
They are long time friends 😊
GREAT MOVIE

Robin Williams on Three Amigos
Thanks gentlemen in the comments. I got my dose of laughter
This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. It's not a "day in the life" film. The movie literally has Leo moving to Italy for, presumably, years to work in Italian cinema. Meanwhile, less time was spent on that period of his life than Brad Pitt asking someone to open a door.
I love QT bur OUATIH was a complete miss.
@@drgoremd glad you cleared that up for us
Brad Pitt’s accent and gruff voice were soooo fake-sounding in this movie. His character was cool, but I think he acted so poorly.
Brad Pitt is not known to be a great actor anyway aha.
OUATIH is overrated.
Disagree. It’s a love letter to the Hollywood that QT grew up watching films from and is far his most sentimental film. It’s still quintessential Tarantino though. I loved it and have rewatched 4-5 times always catching new things.
Overrated? Brother when this movie first came out, nobody liked it. It just finally started to get love in recent years.. 😅
But I’ve watched this movie 100 times. 🎬

Voldemort on A Woman Under the Influence
Tarantino's awesome but this movie is a collection of great scenes . . . and nothing else. There's no theme. What conflict is resolved exactly?
The only thing I dont like about this movie is the Bruce Lee stuff. It felt needlessly disrespectful. There were plenty of problematic people in Hollywood back in the day, so I dont understand why out of all people, Quinten chose to mock Bruce.
Leo was the wrong actor for that part. He was too young. On the other hand, Brad Pitt was perfectly cast and was so great in it.
👍👍👍

@@TheRealNormanBates yeah Inglorious and Django are interchangeable for me, no problem moving Basterds up.
PTA is on crack, this move is straight up garbage. And Licorice Pizza is even worse. Have a nice day.
I don't think it's garbage.. far from it... but his 90's stuff is definitely superior. I really love *Kill Bill Vol.1,* but *Vol.2* seemed to have went out of it's way to make everything in the first part uncool. Then *Inglourious Basterds* came out... and I liked it, but there was something not quite right. Loved Christoph Waltz, but Brad Pitt was _horribly_ miscast. Didn't wreck the movie, but made it more cartoony. Then when *Django Unchained* came out, that's when I realized: he remade *Kill Bill* three times, and with *OUATIH* a forth. They're all just bloated revenge fantasies. I can't fault him for making what he wants, but I miss 90's Quentin who wanted to make films, not his version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Nah you’re definitely the crackhead in this scenario. Movie is great.

Once Upon A Time in Hollywood does not work as a movie. It fails to set up the Manson family in any way at all. You should not need historical knowledge to enjoy a movie, it must be self contained. The book solves this problem by including the Creepy Crawl scene.
