    I always use the safety cord, Imagine your boat idling away from you at 1km an hour while you swim after it at 3/4km/hr. In Lake Superior you'd be dead.

    This was very informative, thank you! I'm getting to borrow a small boat this week for fishing, but I haven't been around boats for years.. Feeling much more comfortable about it now! :)

    Thanks for the video. Some of us are new to outboards and it can be helpful. Having trouble starting my 2.5 new Mercury 4 stroke. Starting to think I may be flooding it when trying.

    No need to turn throttle 3 times or at all carb doesn't have a venture to squirt fuel in.

    Thanks for the video man. Could use something like one of those things people call "dead cat" things to reduce wind noise for audio but I really appreciate it. I really needed the info. Really clear image and I love it that you're always showing the outboard engine, atleast all the important bits almost no one sees or can picture out. Thanks again. Have a good one.

    Good video. Should add that after running a short while (5 min or so?), double check/retighten the clamps holding the motor on. Also good idea to have a tether of some sort, cable or rope from engine to something solid in the boat in case a clamp fails.

    Well finally I found a video about using Parsun outboard and non-Russian video, since I don't know Russian that hard to discuss it with them.
    So the problem is really simply, is that Parsun machines reliable in the user with good maintenance? I always saw some people in interest that say Parsun outboard just crap and easy corrosion in some parts but NEVER having any photo to prove them.
    I live in Hong Kong so it was very easy and could get Parsun out in a good price. (For 9.8 4 stroke sells at around 1580usd). Which really good for a small outboard ...

    You did say if you don't wear your kill switch you're an idiot. The moment you changed from saying that, you stopped wearing the kill switch. It was a very informative and enjoyable video, until you contradicted yourself in your action. We all thought it was very funny. 72, 936 views ago...hehe. Did I like the video? Loved it. monty Python couldn't do better. I hope you put another one up, would love to see more of your stuff. thank you.

    I know nothing about these so forgive me if this is a stupid question.
    When connecting the fuel hose you connected one end to the fuel tank and then opened the fuel valve before connecting the other to the motor, would it not be better to connect both ends of the hose before opening the valve?
    Does the bulb act as a non-return valve in case the open end accidentally fell into water or doesn't it matter?

    • @highamsimon
      @highamsimon  6 лет назад

      both ends of the fuel line have a quick release fitting so it doesn't matter which end you connect first. good luck with your boating and have fun!

  • @jeansandmyshirt
    @jeansandmyshirt 6 лет назад

    long shaft for intex mariner 4 or the short shaft?. some say long shaft is better for salt water. any thoughts?

    • @highamsimon
      @highamsimon  6 лет назад

      almost all inflatables require a short shaft. if your transom measures around 15" then go for short. No difference between fresh water and salt water as regards the shaft size. Good luck!

    What does twisting the throttle before starting do?

    • @highamsimon
      @highamsimon  16 дней назад

      Great question, on this particular 15hp 4 stroke it injects a little fuel into the induction system to give the engine an easy cold-start

  • @mrthomaslaux1

    Can these handle -30 weather?

    • @highamsimon
      @highamsimon  6 лет назад

      Never tried them in -30 but the German fabric that they are made from is the best in the business - check out the manufacturer of our fabric here: www.mehgies.com/en/productoverview/valmex/11valmex-boat.php

    Oh, never heard of Parson outboards before, are they made in the UK, or imported Asian or ?

    • @highamsimon
      @highamsimon  6 лет назад +2

      We have been importing Parsun outboards now since 2006, they are a great little product, light weight, easy starting and really fuel efficient. 3 year parts and labour warranty here in the UK too!

    You don't have to sit on the starboard side. You can sit on either side

    • @mtlnascarfan
      @mtlnascarfan 10 лет назад +2

      It's best to sit on the starboard side as this gives the control handle the most range of motion.
      Good luck turning right if you're sitting on the port side, buddy. You'll be sitting exactly where the handle would be.

    • @archiejack363
      @archiejack363 10 лет назад +1

      you can change the tiller over to the ott
      erside if you want you just undo some bolts and move it well you do on mine

    • @mtlnascarfan
      @mtlnascarfan 10 лет назад

      Archie Stewart I wasn't aware that you were able to do this. Thanks for the heads up.

    • @archiejack363

      dont think its on alll of the mine you need an attachment

    • @DustyRobertson
      @DustyRobertson 10 лет назад +1

      All know is that here in Australia for IRB (Inflatable Rescue Boat) races the driver sits on the port side as the handle is also there so he has more precise control. The crewman sits astern on the starboard side

    Oh man, now I get it, I have Always tried to turn left by pushing tiller left....
    Frock, now I realise I been doing it wrong.
    Gonna try later today to push it the other way and see if it turns left...
    Or is it just the Brits who need help with left and right, even on the high seas?
