There are 19 direct references to andhanar and their Vedic practices in Puranaanooru. In fact, many of the Sangam poets were Brahmins. Ravana who played Veena himself is a Brahmin. Agathiyar who is adept in playing Veena (Yaazh) is also a Brahmin. Tolkaapiyar is a brahmin. Nearly 10,000+ lines of Sangam works were contributed by Brahmins. Nachinarkiniyar who wrote commentaries on important Sangam works is a brahmin. Having said that people from different walks of life have contributed to Tamil culture. The point I want to drive is that music is beyond caste, sex, and religion. Kindly do not bring the caste angle to this forum.
