Phantom sounds great this year, but seeing the battery and pit performing the music like this (up close) amazes me even more, especially with the chains in the opener, really cool. This is an awesome video!!!
Great video! My only suggestion is to make sure your cameras match frame rates - your wide ensemble shot looks to be in 60 fps while everything else is in 24 or 30. Great job nonetheless!
They were going to have 8. One of the outside snares couldn't march this summer due to personal problems, so his hole was filled. Another snare had to go home after a few days at spring training because he messed up his ankle. And more recently, the snare who filled the hole was cut for reasons that I don't know.
It gives the percussion music writer more space and variety when it comes to the music. And when they're hitting both at the same time, it just "speaks" more musically than one spock.
I see where you and totalgamer717 are going. I understand the idea behind it, but to me the concept never pays off. The spocks are too close in pitch to each other for them to sound like two distinct pitches. Play singly or as a double stop the pitches of the drum just sound weak. I would rather have one well-tuned drum that speaks with a full voice (G_d that sounds stupid, but you get the idea) than two piddly little drums e.g. SCV. That spock tuning punches through the ensemble, but not in an obnoxious way. Another reason I like one spock is comfort. It just feels better to play on one. Two is just awkward.
I like what i see. I started getting tired of the same Ole same Ole with DCI. Seriously, every year all the drummers did the same routines, the same poses,etc.... Basically they could have been interchangeable with other corps because they all did the same moves. Even the played out rim click after warm ups. Finally Phantom looks to be trying new. Reminds me of 93 Phantom when all the drummers had crazy percussion going on. Good job, Phantom! Still not a big fan of the electronics though.
2:49 I swear this guy's gonna smash that MacBook someday.

I really like the whole multi-cam concept you have going here. Great showcase of Phantom!
i was wearing a PR shirt i got a DCI back in about 89, before any of you all were born. you all kick ass!!!

Love the sounds and camera work
The guy who plays bass 1 was in Atlanta Quest.
Aero X now he's at bluecoats
After watching this, blown away!!!
Probably in my top 3 for all time favorite dci shows
I would do anything to fill that last snare hole for the last couple weeks of this season because these guys are throwing down this year!!!
This is some mean writing! Very powerful, I love it! Proves the electronics aren't needed.
Emily, this is awesome!
Does anyone know why they only have 7 snares? Just curious
theclash181 unfortunately, one of their snares passed away
You're thinking of Music City. One of Phantom's snares got injured.
Both wrong, was cut
I'm pretty sure they had 9, I don't know what happened to one but one was cut

I live right by were they are playing
Awesome execution.

What are those things on the side of the snare?
Mrnicknick02 Those are batarangs to pick off the judges in case they don't win
what kind of filter are you using on your stationary camera?
great f*cking work catching Phantom!
does Paul Rennick write for phantom?

Bagus se kali
Does anyone have any video of how they changed the end of their closer? I really want to see it
hot
Don't see why they had to go to two spock drums.
Shot drums? Do you mean the spocks on the tenors?
yes
Inspadave it gives another sound doesn't really make a difference except just makes the music a bit harder

yeah, their book this year was nuts
Nice work P-Reg..... That's a shitload of notes you're laying down!
The electronics are beyond cheese
The line is really good. Those are the worst uniforms Phantom Regiment has ever worn.
the sarcasm is strong
Lose the electric crap, otherwise y'all sound and look great.
