I think the purpose of the line is not to say Gojo doesn't have a personality or such. It's more questioning his justice. Are you the strongest because your Gojo or are you Gojo because your the strongest. References that all that Gojo seeks is strength and with this he is shallow and cannot have any form of true justice. That's the way Geto see's it at least. If that makes any sense?
Almost like the question itself is contradictory. Gojo himself is stuck in this loop of strength and Egoism and Geto can't respect that. It's a question not meant for an answer but rather debasing the idea that Gojo is superior to Geto because of strength alone. Geto believes his morality is superior to Gojo and that it doesn't matter if Gojo is the strongest as Geto has a higher purpose. This line perfectly dissects Geto and factually speaking it is correct somewhat. Gojo has a superiority complex which is understandable considering his abilities but Geto his closest friend saying such makes this line furthermore tragic for both characters. Getos himself is an Egoist and looks to impose his will upon the world so in a way it also could be said are you righteous because your Geto or are you Geto because your righteous. Both characters base themselves on a higher purpose, the only difference is one of them believes in genocide for the greater good and the other wouldn't even consider such as a valid option. Gojo believes that as he is strong he can fix everything and Geto believe as he is smart he can fix everything. The tragedy is Gojo could not understand Getos thought process and provide an argument or respond to this statement because he himself is imperfect. With this line Geto exposed a floor in Gojo meanwhile simultaneously representing the floor in himself. This is my favourite line in anime: something so simple can be so thought provoking and powerful.
Gojo is also responsible for pretty much the majority of deaths in the series cause he refused to kill Sukuna when he had the chance. Instead of being the strongest and acting on that strength like Sukuna did during his era, Gojo didn't and it costed him and others their lives.

I think the purpose of the line is not to say Gojo doesn't have a personality or such. It's more questioning his justice. Are you the strongest because your Gojo or are you Gojo because your the strongest. References that all that Gojo seeks is strength and with this he is shallow and cannot have any form of true justice. That's the way Geto see's it at least. If that makes any sense?
Almost like the question itself is contradictory. Gojo himself is stuck in this loop of strength and Egoism and Geto can't respect that. It's a question not meant for an answer but rather debasing the idea that Gojo is superior to Geto because of strength alone. Geto believes his morality is superior to Gojo and that it doesn't matter if Gojo is the strongest as Geto has a higher purpose. This line perfectly dissects Geto and factually speaking it is correct somewhat. Gojo has a superiority complex which is understandable considering his abilities but Geto his closest friend saying such makes this line furthermore tragic for both characters. Getos himself is an Egoist and looks to impose his will upon the world so in a way it also could be said are you righteous because your Geto or are you Geto because your righteous. Both characters base themselves on a higher purpose, the only difference is one of them believes in genocide for the greater good and the other wouldn't even consider such as a valid option. Gojo believes that as he is strong he can fix everything and Geto believe as he is smart he can fix everything. The tragedy is Gojo could not understand Getos thought process and provide an argument or respond to this statement because he himself is imperfect. With this line Geto exposed a floor in Gojo meanwhile simultaneously representing the floor in himself. This is my favourite line in anime: something so simple can be so thought provoking and powerful.
Gojo is also responsible for pretty much the majority of deaths in the series cause he refused to kill Sukuna when he had the chance. Instead of being the strongest and acting on that strength like Sukuna did during his era, Gojo didn't and it costed him and others their lives.

Is Gojo a puppet to his power, only living the way he is because of his strength? Or did Gojo's power stem from the strength of his soul? What is the real source of Gojo?
Gojo didn't just inherit his family ability, but also was born with a Heavenly Pact. So this is a very poignant question to ask, as it forces him to think about WHY he is the way he is.

Wrong. The dialogue before this line clearly indicates what he meant. Gojo is ruthless enough to kill everyone. Thats why he asks, is your personality that makes you the strongest ? Answer is obviously yes, Hes the strongest becase He's Gojo( aka his personality) .
So He's the strongest BECAUSE he's Gojo Satoru.

Then he asks" kimiwa gojo satoru saikyo dakara nanoka?. Which means are you gojo because you are the strongest.
