Not exactly a big fan of the jeeps but there are benefits to a solid front axle. That independent front suspension cant articulate as close even with the sway bar disconnected to a set up like the jeeps but non the less id still choose a fj because i just like things that work. My dad drives a jku and it went into limp mode several times all because of a valve cover leak.
How does atrac work? Does it function kind of like limited slips? I have a 07 6mt fj and I've used it before, but still not very sure how it functions. And being a manual, I'm a little less understanding of the function.
@@imkaneforever the trick is to keep the power steady, our natural instinct is to back off the throttle when we sense wheelspin. For ATRAC to work, you need to stay steady on the throttle and let ATRAC to the modulation of the spinning wheels via ABS and ECU and it works out quite well after training yourself. Usually the front wheel lifts and ATRAC handles that well while the rear diff lock takes care of the traction.
Haha that is me and my wife , I think if I had lockers on my Jeep , it would have been much smoother ! Also my Jeep is a 19 JLU Sahara with the turbo 2.0 .
Fj Cruisers get alot of hate. It is not something that the Off-Road Community should do. alot of things that I see wrong with this fj. ill describe a few, tire pressure, Chinese BOOF-ASS suspension(only 2 i recommend are King, and Bilstein), no bodychop, i run 32s on mine and did this with ease. i have a front and rear modified bumber which makes it alot heavier, but still runs like a dream. i dont like the fact that the guy driving his FJ looks like he was driving in H4.... NO SKID PLATES???? WHAT IS HE TRYING TO DO KILL THE DAMN CAR???
In the videos of the new broncos going up hells gate, the one that is still fully camo climbs up in crawl control. Both have the benefits, the manual has a super low crawl ratio in crawl gear low range. If you want that low low ratio manual is it. But I reserved a badlands with sas package 4dr auto with the 2.7L
the sahara had no issues with open diffs. Although it could have had aftermarket lockers. That sahara went up with no issues so your rubicon would go up just as good, not harder, not easier. This was a JLU not JKU.
going super steep makes the front shocks seem more stiff since they are carrying much less load, there would be much more articulation if they were going downhill
Never mess with the FJ. The Jeep looked very modified. The FJ looked pretty stock, just like mine.
A stock kia Sorento did hells gate as well
@@ky0611 with damage, but yes it did
very modified? nah, that jeep looks like its jz came out from dealership
I have an FJ and I’m definitely not a Jeep fanboy but that Jeep looks to be stock. Just some tires and front bumper.

Came here for all the fj enthusiasts comments.
That front suspension on this FJ looked pretty stiff... as much as the tire.
I love the fj
This is always a good flex test to watch !

Love The FJ Cruiser
It's really the driver and mods on one vs other. Unless these vehicles are stock.
Definitely the FJ!
how do they come down the path? any file about that?
What mods were on the FJ? Looks like the sway bars were still attached and they were running high way pressures?
We just put 33s and a 3.5inch lift. My Jeep had no lockers but had sway bar disconnects . Her tires were down to 16psi .
4 months late to your comment, but FJs have independent front suspension. I agree that the tire pressures look high as hell though.
@@Levy3o8 uh I know they have IFS, I friggin own one, but I also own sway bar disconnects so I get a lot more travel than the guy above...
@@dirttales okay I'm sorry to have commented to you. Have a nice day
FJ did well and was expected, air down next time and engage ATRAC.

@@imkaneforever we still do not understand how her A-trac works.
Definitely needed to air down on the FJ, those tires looked and acted stiff.
We aired my Jeep’s tires and my wife’s FJs both down to 16psi . Should have went down to 13 or less looking back at it now .
Impressive to make it without airing down
It's all down to driver and spotting...
Haha that is me and my wife , I think if I had lockers on my Jeep , it would have been much smoother ! Also my Jeep is a 19 JLU Sahara with the turbo 2.0 .
Sorry I thought it was a JKU not JLU. But good job to you both for making it up successfully
FreeWheelin Overland we appreciated the help of the spotting very much . Cool video work also !
This is on my bucket list. Makes me (noob) feel more confident that I can tackle this in my stock JLUR.
Nah, you’re Jeep did just fine, and the flex looked way cooler than that Yota.
I knew it was a JL from the fender vents. I just got my 1st wrangler about 2 weeks ago (2010 JKU with 215,000 miles. Just a toy lol)
Both amazing offroad vehicles , but the FJ is realiable like always , stock FJ car run forever if u do normal maintenance.
I have a 2007 fj i bought used, I love it my only fear is rust
Rust is the worst!
Man that guy who drove the tundra TRD pro off the lot up hells revenge made it look easy... FJ looked as if was in trouble there for a sec.
Lol yeah that was my wife and I was in my Jeep with no lockers .
Looks like it's running stock size tires and could use a front locker option
If you're talking about the FJ, if the a-trac in engaged, it doesn't need a a front locker.
I still can't believe a Bronco Sport made that climb
Last about 20 more years than a Bronco
Bronco?........ Dude a 100% stock 5 speed TOYOTA HILUX from the 80's with no computer technology did that no problem.😂😂
Honestly it's not a hard climb if you can drive
That's a JL not a JK. You can tell by the fender vents..... Big difference
2:40 *fjor the FJ!*
Looks like it’s a Jlu not jku but great vid.
WHO taught this person to off road WHOOOO

The Jeep and the FJ Cruiser are bare-bones stock, and they both can outperform all the vehicles behind them.
That FJ was kinda scary compared to the Bronco or that Jeep.
Agreed

@Toasty I know Toyota doesn't have the crawl mode in the manual transmission
But the TOYOTA FJ is 100% reliable hahah and that's why people love these suvs
the FJ driver needs a little help but the FJ is great
the jeep stunning, a Sahara perfectly driven without the locks I guess, how much easier it would be with my Rubicon.
the sahara had no issues with open diffs. Although it could have had aftermarket lockers. That sahara went up with no issues so your rubicon would go up just as good, not harder, not easier. This was a JLU not JKU.
Lol I had no lockers . Wish I did but if you have a rubicon, you will have no issues at all.
Do fiat 500 next🤣
The benefits of a solid front axle. thats a JLU by the way.
Yes I let the guy know that my Jeep was a JLU also . He did well with the video though .
FJ didn't even have proper sliders and still conquered.
Fj's tires are slippery
Fj had no spotter-just needed to air down few lbs. All about my fj-esp w my son-in-law and all shit he talks. Fj go ANYWHERE jeeps goes and then some.
Wow it’s a woman driving the FJ
Haha my wife’s FJ and I was in my Sahara with no lockers.
That Toyota doesn’t have any articulation at all ... why is that?
independent front suspension.
sway bar connected, plus those tires look way stiff.
