I can’t believe this lol 😭 literally the exact same thing happened to me in 7th grade - the night before the first day of 8th grade I had to sit down and cry about how time was passing so fast. Too real lmfaoo
I’m glad that the community here helps you to wanna keep going! I’m actually part of a music production club at my university so I always love seeing musicians grow and learn.
Also can totally relate to the unfeasibility of pursing art and stuff but I’m sure your family just doesn’t want you to have regrets. Telling them about the work you put into this channel will for sure ease their worries LOL
I’m not Chinese but I learnt Chinese for a while - the skill ceiling is so damn high I have to be consuming content in the language ad infinitum just to get tones right once 💀
I’m curious what made you lose faith in humanity/ your passion for engineering etc? Im also in STEM and i feel like I’m a lot more optimistic about my work but if you’re going into industry I can understand the slog can feel extremely pointless as an engineer. Maybe I’m just lucky going into research.
    Sorry for long comment lol

Hahaha yeah growing up is never fun. I wish I got more into music production early so that I would know more, but I don't think our college had a club like that, or if they do I have no idea. HA yeah I would like to tell my family but my mom would definitely be mad that I kept a secret for so long cause she's just like that... so if I do, I have to plan out how I say it. Yeah the Chinese language struggle is real. What is your major/research if you're in STEM?
In terms of the humanity thing (I may talk about this in the future) but TLDR for aerospace, most of us don't go into it knowing about the whole weapons side of it. Most people think that they are going to do projects for space/humanity etc. But then after a couple years in undergrad you find out that 70% of funded research is for defense/weapons, and that the better paying jobs are in the defense industry. It's the same with other majors too, like environmental engineers can get low-pay working for a good cause, or they can make bank working for oil & gas/defense contractors etc. Yeah my research is....not for....civil space. It's also just discouraging because sometimes I have to read about U.S. vs China vs Russia for work and it's like, why can't we all just be friends and work together and be happy? We put so much money into weapons to hurt each other and it's like.....ah just stop everyone stop. But that's basically that lol. Don't worry about the long comment! It's never a bother

@@moonrise45 im in chemistry so I can relate to the military part of it for sure - half of all of the research we do is funded in part by the US military or oil companies. Its always an arms race to protect “geopolitical interests” or whatever and it is really frustrating that so many resources are put into making the rich richer. I’ve honestly thought about working in China or something along those lines because they are actually building stuff for other countries (belt and road initiative type stuff) thats part of why i wanted to learn chinese lol

on a side note its also crazy to me that all of it is taxpayer money too like working class Americans are rlly getting robbed to pay people at Raytheon and Northrop Grumman 💀

Ahhh yes I see. Yeah working in China is def an option, the work culture is just really difficult

      @moonrise45  2 месяца назад +1

Yeah I'm actually quite naive when it comes to things like this, so I didn't even think taxpayers' money went to weapons, but of course they would since it's all government contracts lol

Your videos are the equivelant of lo fi music. Theyre unpolished, but theyre easy to watch and they feel so genuine without fancy editing or cuts. Keep making videos for you and for us!

"its okay to not be happy..." so real, for some reason ive never thought of it that way...I usually feel like im doing something wrong when im not happy, like failing at something--so that was a change of perspective!
Also as for c-dramas, Go Ahead (2022), Dear Tenant (2020) and Murmur of Youth (1997) are some of my favs. Though i guess the last two are taiwanese and not c-drama?
Anyway, love the video (per usual) d(^_^o)

I started learning Chinese recently, mostly because I like a lot of Taiwanese films and that made me admire how the language sounds. I know Japanese, which I learned nearly a decade ago, so it's fun to compare the readings and meanings of Chinese characters. How differently the grammar developed is also interesting: my beginner impression is Chinese is very simple and direct while Japanese has all this fluff around it. It's funny you're on the same path despite having Chinese parents.

Yes I agree, Chinese is a lot more direct, which I like, but the tones take a while for me to commit to muscle memory 😓

I just came home from a long night and decided to hop on RUclips. I have no idea why you were recommended to me (I think it's because I like Porter) but after listening to the first 10 minutes, I just have to say that I believe in the same thing. I don't believe in focusing or worrying about views - I just like to put out music I love and feel just because it's my outlet, and I want to share it, and if I build a community, it happens, and I'll be happy to impact another person's life too. Welcome to the online world - it's changed my life, and I hope you find happiness in this secret online home of yours like I have!

Hey Moonrise! I actually haven’t had a chance to listen to your new song yet. I’m sorry but I’ve been ever so busy with life and currently looking for a new work as my visa expires next month here in Japan. I’ll make a comment on it once I’ve listened to it. I just want you to know I know how you feel. I was also into Art my whole life (I like singing recently too). I say “was” because although I love art, I unfortunately never took it on as a career because I foolishly bought into the idea that artists can’t make enough money to get by every month and I would end up financially broke. It’s clear as day from the look on your face that you are the happiest when you are talking about your music. From my perspective I honestly think you have the unique artistic style to make it as a singer but until you get there it’s important to build your way up. I think if you can find another job that keeps you content until your channel hits off, you can possibly start putting money aside and get someone to promote your channel. I’ll think of other ideas and let you know. And I’m really surprised that you are Chinese American as I too honestly thought you were Korean but thanks for clearing your nationality. And oh wow your hair is beautiful…the way it falls so naturally! ☺️ And yes we are your RUclips family so we’ll be here to watch you grow until the point our comments just blend in with all the others lol 😂

Thank you so much! And good luck with your new job search! No I agree, going straight for a career in art is risky...I feel that it is very difficult to make a steady income so the best option is to have a normal job. And thank you about the hair! And thank you for always leaving supportive comments. Don't worry, I read every kind comment and they won't get lost because I'm always grateful for them 🙇🏻‍♀️

Well, you definitely seem to have the engineer personality ... lol. You have the softest voice I've heard in a while .. maybe you need a clip-on mic for future videos ..

HAHA thank you....though I wish I was as smart as my coworkers/classmates 😅. Hmm yeah I've been thinking of purchasing a clip on mic to make videos easier to record. Thanks for the suggestion!
