    Back then, there were only three stations. We lived in NorCal, in the gold country foothills. We could only get reception for NBC. But in the late 60s, dad installed a new antenna that was directional. I then became a full time remote control-not just on/off/volume/horizontal/vertical, but I was charged to find the antenna’s sweet spot for each channel. We didn’t get a color TV until the mid 70s.

      What do you think of my slight obsession with the Avengers? I have the box set of the series. I didn't start watching them until they first went into syndication and thought it was super cool. Must have been early to mid 70s. Didn't find out about the Honor Blackman era until after college. I was first introduced to her as Pussy Galore. I'm a big Bond fan too. I don't have the movies, but I have the soundtracks.

    Green Hornet theme is very similar to Rimsky-Korsakov's "Flight of the Bumblebee".

      it is the flight of the bumblebee just as the 1812 overture is the lone rangers theme song

      @@ellenfleming9685 William Tell Overture (final movement) by Rossini for Lone Ranger. 1812 Overture is by Tchaikovsky, totally different.
      I've listened back and forth Flight of the Bumblebee and Green Hornet theme to compare, and they are slightly different - Green Hornet theme is a little more melodic with a bit of a jazz beat. But they are essentially the same piece.
      Love Al Hirt's version of Green Hornet - great on trumpet!

    The ultimate sign of sophistication is listening to the “William Tell Overture” and never once think of the “Lone Ranger”.

    • @roberthughes9856
      @roberthughes9856 Год назад

      We have an extra challenge in the UK as there was a 1950s show about William Tell with the overture as the theme so to be sophisticated here at a party we not only have to fight down the impulse to say "That's the Lone Ranger" when hearing this music but we also have to avoid singing "Come away, Come Away with William Tell, Come Away, Come away and run like Hell...." not the actual lyrics but every schoolboy knew this version.
