Very nice review, which I enjoyed even though I bought a Maono AU-HD300T before I saw your review. I wanted a dynamic mic because I'm in a noisy environment; I have a condenser mic, an ancient Teac, but it picks up way too much noise (outside traffic, air cond, etc.) This mic has a great cardioid pattern, when I've got it set up it rejects almost all the exterior noises I don't want, so it's perfect for me doing voice work. I'd still like an audio interface, though I'm using both Voicemeeter Banana and Audacity, so I get pretty clean sound in the end. After seeing & hearing all the comparisons, I'm happier than ever with this mic! Yes, the Shure & the Neumann did sound a bit better- but at their prices, that's no wonder. For my needs the Maono is the bee's knees!
The Samson Q2u has been my main microphone for almost 6 months now. It has better handling noise rejection in my opinion, and I just really love the way it sounds. The Samson Q2u easily one of the best USB/XLR Microphones in it's price range. It does indeed sound hotter than the Maono, but it honestly sounds better to my ears.
This is such a detailed well thoughout test. I wish more people did this with other types of products. It's perfect for actually comparing products for all types of scenarios. Thank you so much for what you do bro. Keep it up!
To be perfectly honest, the comparisons to the U87Ai isn't useless. It provides a reference against one of the most common voiceover mics out there for folks who are less educated. Also outlines the real difference between cheaper mics and more expensive ones. Start comparing everything to the SM7B as well as the 87!
I'm curious as to why manufacturers keep making USB dynamic mics with low volume pre-amps. That pretty much necessitates something like a cloudlifter and an interface anyway to add enough clean gain, which kind of defeats the purpose of a cheap USB mic.
Dear Brother I feel this Maono guy is sounding really good when compared to the likes of the 2100/2100X, Q9U, and even the MV7, damn, I am impressed! Thanks for doing this review and comparison, I am picking this guy up! Love ya Brother!! God Bless!

I really liked the sound of this. As a metal guitarist, I thought the mud was really nice, and it's somehow only gotten more affordable since this video. This is genuinely at the top of the list of mics I'm considering.
Very cool to hear your opinion on it because it takes a completely different approach than what I'd be looking for. Different sound for different people and applications. Thanks for sharing.
Nice "radio voice" mic, actually. Way better than the scratchy treble of the Q2U or the wooly Q9U, not as bright as the ATR2100s, not to mention very low noise. I bet pitting this against some popular podcasting mics may yield some surprising results. Just who knows whether current production samples are still behaving like this in the USB audio department.
So many great mics to choose from. There has never been a better time to start creating content in any form. Great video. Don't forget to like the video if you got some value out of it 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🎉
Hello!!! Very good video. I ask you after so long if the microphone is still working fine. Since my fear is always if these microphones that are not so expensive are reliable after a while. Regards!!!
Oh yeah I was on the fence with ordering this one, but after hearing it first hand, definitely getting it now~ It's a great switch from my Samson condenser because spoken word is sorta my main line of work right now and I record in an untreated room with lots of background noise :c Hoping this can help me!
This mic is sold for less than $60 in my country. Whereas samson q2u is sold at $90. Maybe maono decided to catchup the market by releasing the same type of mic at affordable price. The dollar conversion save me a few thousands on mic. Comparing INR 3412 for maono to INR 6900 for samson q2u. Audio Technica 2100x cost more than a dynamic mic plus an interface cost.
People considering these mics should keep in mind USB ports just won't hold up over time like an XLR port will. A USB dynamic mic will probably just last a year or two, while an XLR dynamic mic will last you possibly the rest of your life... keep that in mind.
@@Mercymurv Because USB ports are connected to a circuit board via a few surface mount pins. It's the solder holding the connector to the PCB that takes the stress from plugging things in and out. XLR ports are massive, and not supported by a thin solder joint. It's far, far more robust of a connection. An XLR mic will generally last forever, a USB one won't.
Can you do a video comparing the Neumann KMS 105 and the Earthworks SR314 to the Peluso PS-1? The PS-1 is a large diaphragm handheld mic that no one is reviewing it, wonder how it compare to the other 2.

The Behringer XM8500 for $20 (XLR, not USB) sounds better for acoustic as well as possibly electric guitar recording. Can't argue with all the "free" accessories included with the mic.
