    I am watching from SW Fl. But I was born in Maine 72 yrs. ago. I moved to Fl. When I was 18. Not my choice, my mother past away and so they broke up the family!!
    I started doing Genealogy in the 1980’s. It was a lot of fun.
    I had heard there was going to be a Genealogy tv program awhile back, but as time flew by I forgot.. Yesterday up popped your Genealogy site on RUclips!!! How wonderful!!

      I’m originally from the Midwest. I’ve been researching my family tree for a number of years now. I have strong family ties to North Carolina. So many of my ancestors passed through North Carolina in the mid-1700s to the mid-1800s. I’ve been to Concord in Cabarrus County for family research and hope to go back to the area some day soon. I love your channel and find it very informative. Thanks again!

      Daniel Masters Thank you! I appreciate it. I’m having so much fun doing them. Also NC is a great state and fun place to do family history. I have a North Carolina Ancestry website and RUclips channel called NC Ancestry and NCAncestry.com you might be interested in too. I just don’t get to do as much work there as I do on this channel. GTV is my main focus.

    Watching from Omaha, Nebraska. Found your channel a few months back. Have really enjoyed the photoshop tutorials. I've owned Photoshop 6 since it was released many, many years ago. It is overwhelming to learn when you have no clue. Watching your photo restoration tutorials are encouraging to try photoshop once more. Thank you for your step by step explanations as I attempt to restore hundreds of photos dating from as far back as the 1890s. Now if you could provide one on how to restore photos that are extremely washed out to the point of being nearly white? I would hug you!

    Just found your site. Great stuff. I am the President of a small historical society and when i find things in our collection, say a letter or a photo, i will use my Ancestry account to search to see if someone is doing research on the person. I will then reach out offering to share it with them (for free of course). Very few will respond. Am i breaking some ethics code by doing this?

    • @GenealogyTV
      @GenealogyTV  5 лет назад

      Not at all. I think what you’re doing is a generous act. I find that more and more people are not responding to Ancestry messaging. Some of that will have to do with new privacy settings on their accounts. However you might do the same thing on FamilySearch since it is a collaborative tree. You might get more response there just by adding the image to the right person (if that’s possible without you being connected to the ancestor yourself. I think it is. Thanks for the comment.

  • @karentippets4285
    @karentippets4285 4 года назад +1

    There's also the fact that there are small genetic mutations that may make "exact" DNA matches impossible. DNA is a nice tool, helps, but never eliminates the records. Might be able to figure out where the ancestors originated, but most times it won't guarantee the "Who" of their identity.

  • @vjhurstcreations5473

    I am way behind with watching your videos but I am also like many researching the Quakers in NC. I am connected to many families from Guilford, Cane Creek, Deep Creek etc in Randolph & Guilford counties...I thought only on my mother's side BUT have in researching my gmother's line which she was a foster child...that many of her mother's family came from those same communities!! OMIGOSH...so many Davis'....luckily her line does not mix much with my own mother's family. (she is my father's mother!!!) So, I would LOVE it if...you would do a vid about how to unravel all this. I am not having too much trouble figuring out who is who...they are Bond's & Beesons mostly but not sure how this affects figuring out who the real mother and father are. IE how it would mess up my dna connections. But anyway...thought I'd let you know that your videos are awesome and you have a fellow researcher in Indiana wading thru those records with you. My lines all migrated to Wayne Co or Boone Co, Indiana....some to Hopewell mm in Ohio too.

    Great show. I’m watching from BURNSVILLE in Yancey county. I would like to help with North Carolina genealogy, since there doesn’t seem to be much interest in the area, maybe because there aren’t many people here.
    There at at least six small cemeteries on my way to town. I could also go to the courthouses and document things.

    I am on different search websites and one of them is 23&me. I did a DNA test. and came out that many were 2nd or 3rd cousins. my problem is the tree they gave me was only one side of the family. My daughter thinks it's on the mother's side. all my matches that are 2nd or 3rd cousins don't have any last names on my other tree that I have on the other website. even the places they were born don't match. is this website for real. I paid money to see both sides not one.

    • @GenealogyTV
      @GenealogyTV  Год назад

      Yes. 23andMe is real and it the second largest website for DNA and ancestry research out there. I suggest you test at AncestryDNA (if you haven't already). They are far bigger with about 23 Million tests. Ancestry is on sale this weekend prf.hn/click/camref:1101l4aFW/creativeref:1011l28282 Keep in mind that the different testing companies have different reference panels, so you will get different results with each company. If your DNA cousins have tested at several companies, you may see them on your match list. I hope that helps.
