I think we should feel embarrassed. This comes to show you how we don't prioritize independence. Their are a lot of wealthy Haitians. But what are they doing with their money. Living lavish. Showing off like africans americans. We Haitians must differentiate ourselves from anyone who hasn't the prosperity mentality. We need to build our own community
Sorry Zoe fofo but unfortunately it wouldn't happen, it's the same problem African Americans have with rich blacks once they start to see money they leave and live amongst other rich people, which i under stand. And its not enough Haitians down here in Miami for you guys to take control of Little Haiti even though you guys live there, the voting power is still in the Latinos hands, and unfortunately Haitians, Jamaicans and etc don't want to work with us African Americans thats already here, so unfortunately they are going to take over all our communities one by one.
@zoefofo That's why when I first heard about Little Haiti being gentrified, I had no sympathy for the people there because many of them have disdain for Black Americans like you do. Also, someone wrote a comment to you stating that Haitians, Jamaicans, and other Black ethnicities don't want to work with Black Americans that are already there. Perfectly backs up what I'm saying. Your people are going to have to learn how to fight their own battles like my people did and also learn how to build up Haiti.
I was just thinking the same thing. If the wealthy Haitian people would create an residential n commercial property investment group it could create the affordable housing that is so needed.

Valencia Gunder's statement at the beginning about "coming to an end" is a terrible point to make! Demographics always change, before there was a "Little Haiti" , there was a Lemon City, and its demographics were also different. What makes Haitians so special?
If you look at a map of Little Haiti, you see that's it's miles inland from the coast. It's far enough from the ocean to survive most flood damage. As far as Little Haiti being a "prime real estate location", that would only be the case, if poverty & crime were under control there. Little Haiti is rife with gang violence and homelessness. I fear for the "safety" of any construction workers who try to knock down and "redevelop" on the gangs' turf.
racist asshat. Haitians were forced here because it was considered "undesirable" and now that it's the most desired land in Miami they want to force the local residents out
And Haitians are predominately black, and (historically speaking) only black. In 1804, Dessalines declared that the only racial identity recognized in Haiti would be black, and even the white Polish and German ppl who stayed in Haiti (who helped the Revolution overthrowing the French) were declared black. Stop trying to unracialize an issue that is emergently racial.
@@ImpossibleIsNothin Haitians are not "black" as in African american. They are a separate people with a higher sense of pride and a great work ethic. I would be deeply offended if I was a Haitian and some one called me a black. ALSO Haitian is a nationality, not a race. Plenty whites are Haitian.

@@nunya7791 You are making a division where one doesn't exist. Yes, Haitians are not African-Amercian (as in ADOS), but they are definitely black. The nation of Haiti was founded as the first sovereign BLACK nation in the West. When some Haitians see you as an outsider, they call you "blan" (which means "white" in French and Kreyol). Always bringing up Black Americans, maybe you need to be back in Haiti.

Problem solved: All my wealthy Haitians just have to pay that premium to buy up property instead of Bentleys, $1000 shoes and $30k Chains
