This week, I crafted a game board that doubles as a diorama for my custom Hero Forge miniatures. I designed the miniatures using Hero Forge’s new Kitbashing feature which will be available on their website soon. I was given early access to the feature for this video and I absolutely love it. Be on the lookout for Kitbashing at www.heroforge.com

that underwater lighting paintjob is *chef's kiss*
7:40 “little blue rings onto this harmless little octopus” lol’d
Yet no barnacles or zebra muscles? Those blue rings are sooo pretty & mesmerizing, I just want to pet them😢!
Haha, that got me too! So many people are gonna miss that reference.
Apparently they get big around this wreck. Must be all the free nummies the guardians leave floating about.
How to make Australia more terrifying: add undead scavenging venomous cephlopods. (Rather than their garden variety venomous cephlopods.)
Ok, I confess, I often skip over the “Sponsor” parts of videos, but this Hero Forge feature is so cool (I watched every second of the video).
And this build is incredible on all levels! Thanks Boylei!
omg the ocean-wave-rays details on the ship and sea-floor are amazing!
Damn, that kitbashing feature makes a Hero Forge subscription not only look like a good idea, but freaking great idea.
Youcan already do it in blender by just buying enough models to have every item and then in blender they show as separate items and then you can just move around freely. But this is absolutely awesome for the people who don't want to do that process or only want to buy one or two miniatures.
I just checked and the pros don't have that yet..
@@draconicdust3435they no longer show up as separate bits unfortunately.
@@MrAnimateEverything Damn, well I still have all of the old ones saved
@@draconicdust3435honestly you don't even need to buy. There is a plethora of crazy good models for free. Either because the marker do t monetized or because the makers is giving a sample. From that you can Kitbash.
That Hero Forge creation tool looks super-intuitive. It's nice not needing a 3D modeling degree to make what you want.
I've spent countless hours on Hero Forge making tons of characters. And now they're adding kitbashing?! I'm so stoked!
I almost didn't catch the pun regarding the zombie's canon, until the divers arrived. Well played, Boylei.
I was stuck with why Zombies needed a breathing apparatus😮!? Also, no barnacles? On the poop deck bridge😂
@@marshawargo7238Clearly, the zombies died while diving, so they have the apparatuses but don't need them. However, being respectable sailors in life, they still scrape the hull of their ship to remove the barnacles. :p
“… and then I started a hard-wood flooring company. We specialize in hard woods such as balsa wood.” 😂
Balsa is actually a hardwood
I read this by accident as soon as he was saying it😂😂
@@thatawkardfeeling9076which I am ever baffled by
Zombies and shipwrecks-they go together like bacon and eggs! Thx for the video-EXCELLENT work! 😎👍
You could say EGGCELLENT
More like rancid bacon and rotten eggs!
I didn't get the joke until right at the end. Pachelbel's lolcannon. Very clever. Good build, too.
I recommend a metal "base" underneath all buildings that don't have a level flooring, so you can put a magnet in the base of the model and have it stick. Otherwise minature games get very complicated because your units are sliding along everywhere >.
The usual Sunday morning post from Boylei ceases to amaze. Blue rings on this harmless octopus… hahaha. Thankfully they don’t get that big. But, on the other hand, that’d make them easier to spot. What a fun project! Looks fantastic! See you next week, sir.
There's something about the light refractions that make this build so satisfying.
Can't go wrong with some zombies! Making them soggy, crusty underwater zombies makes it even creepier = better.
Fabulous job with the painting, even more than usual.
Hmm... does this kitbashing feature mean that we're one step closer to seeing some chupacabra mermaids?
Ok. Chupicabra mermaids just beat out my previous best name for a band: supplicating axolotyls.
Revealing the finished miniatures and *then* showing how you kitbashed the diving-specific parts together was really effective. It's obvious you put a ton of work into those but i don't think HF could ask for a better demo of their tool.
"Harmless" little blue rings eh... deadliest creature on the entire layout. Well played.
This is excellent, Boylei! A gameboard that doubles as a diorama! It also proves that you don't need a clear resin pour to achieve effective underwater scenes. Using XPS to make your ship is a good idea that should also work for an intact wargaming terrain as well as for a wreck. (I'm going to have to make a model ship this way, someday . . . .)
Though your Zombie Divers look pretty cool, maybe you could make an alternate set of figures for Ghost Pirate Skeletons, as well.
My like is in the 2.6Ks.
what a sweet little HARMLESS octopus!
nice build as always!
Your weird west stuff is the most original, inspiring and creative stuff out there. This takes it to a whole new level, location and genre. Makes me wonder if there isn't a time or place you couldn't do. Looking forward to more of similar or different... either way keep going!
'Ay lads what's that on the Horizen?'
"Sir its a ship"
"Are those zombies lad"
I'm glad to see that someone is finally acknowledging that the undead do have outside interests other than scarfing the organs of the hated living.
if only i had the time and skills kitbashing looks awesome. Good work and awesome stuff
Your painting skills are amazing. Another great build. Thanks for sharing.
As an Australian the most terrifying thing in this build is the Blue Ringed Octopus
BRO!!!!!! DAYUM!!!!!......That came out GREAT!!!!!....simple, neat, but still full of details that make it fun to look at on the game table, or display shelf!🙌
Super excited for Hero forge kitbashing! Thanks for showing us.
I really like your humor. Balsa wood flooring in a house would be hilarious!
Great project man! Lovely paint job!
"harmless little octopus"
I watch every week and think this is one of my favorite videos so far. When I first saw the thumbnail, I foolishly wasn’t expecting the ship to be hand made. Of course it is! Even the sponsored ad was fun and interesting. Keep ‘em coming. I hope this channel offers you the financial support you deserve.
Oh wow, those artificial sun-though-water stripes work really well! I hadn't expected that to be so convincing. Ugh, I wish I had a 3D printer. Great diorama, as always!
I ALWAYS love your work. Totally amazing!!! But this scratch built ship just blew me away!!! ...and the kit-bashed miniatures rocked!!! 👏
Beautiful ship!
I liked making models in Hero Forge, and that kit-bashing function looks like the perfect feature to add!
Really amazing, the possibility of virtual kitbashing your figures add a new flavor to the hobby!👍
This concept would be such an awesome game! Make your kit, go treasure hunting in the depths of the sea fight some monsters and use your plunder to improve your gear
I am BEYOND stoked for the kitbashing feature! Now I'll just need to learn 3D printing, mini painting, and all this other stuff XD
Be like me and only in Heroforge for making a library of cool guys!
Amazing result!
Another amazing build and miniatures! Love the sunray effect
Pachobels cannon… good one.
The quarter deck is higher than the main deck, but lower than the poop deck. The poop deck is the highest deck and is located at the rear of the ship.
Moon landing or rover on moon or mars
The Venus probe would cool also
Mars landing
I like it
Landing the moon on a rover?
@@Akavir7 Yes
An undersea world like you do the wild imaginary west would be awesome. Divers vs zombies and ghost pirates.
Never had any interest in Hero Forge as I'm a capable Zbrush sculptor and make all of my models from scratch. I've also never really had the time or interest for tabletop war gaming but now that they have a kitbash feature I just might have to check it out. Great build. The airbrushed caustic lighting came out AMAZING!!!
The flippers made from capes is pure genius
the kitbashing feature on Hero Forge is a game changer! I'm looking forward to use it for some own minis
The divers remind me of how Borderlands does their texturing on their models for the games
I know it would probably be unbelievable hard, but this project would look insane if it was encased in resin so it's actually underwater. The lighting on it is already amazing but I just can't stop thinking about how that'd look too...
Pacabel and his canon are brilliant
Blue rings make an octopus very NOT harmless…..
But awesome work as always
It is embarrassing how giddy I get when notified he has uploaded a new vid... Favorite channel, by far.
Nice inclusion of a fossilized Pink Panther in the sea bed.
Great video! You should make a dune diorama, maybe a sandworm or an exploding spice harvester. Or maybe an ornithopter!
Next should be the diorama of a kijou attacking on a city (inspired by movie `Pacific rim`) ❤
Just amazing Sir! That paint job on the ship is epic!
That terrain paste btw is an absolute godsend idea! I used it on a train layout diorama recently and really acts like natural earth and dirt. Love it and all your other tips and tricks
So the billionaires did explore the titanic in the end how wholesome
Add some blue rings to this "harmless" octopus...
I don't think you can call a blue ringed octopus harmless
As an Australian hearing an octopus with little blue rings followed by harmless, please don’t touch why octopus with blue rings
That paint job of the underwater sunlight effect is incredible! Great job and thank you for sharing this video!
“Once my work station was free from debris…”
*bars*
😆😆😆
That end music is everything
Very cool. As someone that wants to get into 3D printing, this looks like the best way to start. You guys make it look way to easy im sure. But I'll give it a try lol
Such talent and skill. You did a great work 👏👏
Love these minis man. Look like they'd be great for table top wargaming.
Very cool custom minis!
That is seriously insane and you'd never guess started out as just pieces of foam. I've got a bunch of larger Neca figures and I think I'm inspired by you to try and create some dioramas with them❤thank you for your awesome videos
DAMN this looks fucking cool. your "consistent underwater lighting" idea was a hit!
"harmless little octopus" I see what you did there
Really unique and awesome diorama 😊
Hero forge seems wicked cool
Pachelbel and his cannon. I see you.👀
The wood install jokes are timely as I’m doing flooring today. Haha. Great jokes
So the poop deck is always above the Captain’s quarters if that helps
I was hoping this'd be an actual kitbashing for minis video, not just an ad for heroforge
I know it would be a giant pain but it would be really cool to see that in resin like it was really underwater.
A quick line with a pencil through the cut lines in the foam really make them not look like foam, I like using it for blocks and stuff but if you had a sharpened pencil it would probably work well for wood, just don’t press hard or you will tear the foam. Great video!
You always nail it when it comes to the final shot music man.
I look forward to Boylei’s post every Sunday.
Adding the blue rings to the octopus made it far from harmless lol
Another Underwater Idea: We've seen haunted houses, sunken ships, and haunted ships.
But what about ... a Sunken House?
that figure with the bayonet cannon is awsome
The reference to Pachelbel's Canon was so good.
Really like the modular nature of this build and being able to use it as more than a standard diorama.
A thought I’ve had for a while - once, in your wild imaginary west series, you mentioned that the monster trade invokes not just pelts and trophies but the occasional love monster ad a pet. Would LOVE to see what said pair would look like, and also what monsters are of a “pet” class. Love your work!
Awesome build, C!! I love the hardwood floors. Time to check out Hero Forge. - Rick
Thanks for sharing this with us.
-How did I not see the Pachelbel's Cannon joke coming?!😆
I'm so glad the kitbashing feature is at the testing phase. I've been eagerly awaiting it since they said they wanted to develop.
Oh yeah, octopus with blue rings. totally harmless, suuuuure. 😉👌
Great job! I really don't understand where you get so many ideas. But you inspire with your performance! I wish you good health, because it seems to me that you work very hard.
"...Little blue rings on this harmless little octopus..."
So, harmless in the Australian sense of things, then, huh?
I was expecting a massive resin pour. But the dappled underwater effect is beautiful and really convincing.
Though this is, as usual, an excellent work; both the ship and the bottom of the sea lacks algae, clams, barnacles and « fauna and flora ».
Amazing build!
Wow new format. LOooooove it.
im usually terrified of the ocean but something about old timey dive suits and harpoon guns really gets me in the mood to do some undersea crafting
The light rays REALLY sold this!! Amazing job. I would feel so immersed (pun intended) playing a D&D encounter on that set
very cool, i do prefer when you use models without baseplates as you get their orientation more natural.
still, very nicely done.
I can't be the only one who thinks the undead divers kinda look like the Monsters Inc hazmat crew, right?
