She acts that wonderfully well, she was patient all the time with Jonah and his constant rule-breaking and disruption. Then she finally snaps and proves she has had enough, and really gets emotional when she throws his things across the room, excellent realism from the teacher. Good writing aswell.
Ouucchh... and I'm a teacher trainee who's seen plenty of classrooms, too. She was so unbelievably out of line from about the point when she decided trying to humiliate him for not being able to read was a smart idea. Sadly, real teachers like this are out there, but thankfully not too many of them.
Yes but if you watch the whole thing he took her to breaking point. She's not trying to be a model teacher here, she's trying to represent a real-life teacher. And in doing so, she's done it perfectly.
@@orderinchaos obviously youre right, but all the new teachers who say this stuff seem to be the same ones who leave the profession. They are unwilling to slog it out and confront reality, so choose to leave and protect their ego. Sorry, but true. Saw the same thing spending 15 years volunteering in homeless shelters. Myself and the veterans were always professional with the homeless, but were blunt and cynical behind the scenes, and the newbies would chastise us on their high horse, but last a month when they got spat on, not thanked enough, and called every name under the sun. So they leave, protect their rosy skewed morality and ego, and ditch the actual broken parts of humanity. Pretty audacious. Yep... Exactly right what the comments on this have said. Its all fun and games until you get a student like Jonah who wastes 70% of the classes day with constant interruptions. You've got 30-60 parents & caregivers who want their child to be educated and one or two who just ruin it for all. Sometimes these teachers have to do this because they have no other choice, they've exhausted every other type of discipline.
Is the actress playing Ms Wheatley a teacher in real life? Because if she isn't, she's a pretty darn good and convincing actress. She reminds me exactly of my own teacher. Hahaha
@@lillylazer429 Agreed. There is NO difference whatsoever between this scene and what happens in real-world classrooms. I can't speak for other countries tbf, but in the U.K. during my own school years (1990s) - it happened EXACTLY like this. There's no-one better at mimicking such nuances and details than Chris Lilley and his actors/colleagues. That new real estate character guy Quentin Cook is 100% pure 2017 + accuracy also.
When I first watched the series when I was 10 I didn't like Jonah but re-watching the show, I feel a lot more empathetic towards the character. He clearly needs a bit of discipline but he also needs a helping hand when he's in the wrong bout something
He shouldn't have made that comment, she handled that situation very badly. She'd basically given up on him already, labelled him as a bad kid so never wanted to give him the time of day. Also, she was bullying him about the fact he couldn't read! I'm not surprised he stood up for himself with that comment, and the teacher should have been disciplined. She was also expecting him to keep up with the class even with his difficulties. A bad teacher if I ever saw one.
this might be unpopular, but i'm totally on the teacher's side. she'd been dealing with his shit for ages and was clearly at the end of her tether. i've been at schools exactly like this one and known students like jonah (which is why i love this show so much) and completely understand why she reacted like that.
Lol me neither, she did a good job of acting as a teacher who's had enough though, I've seen a teacher snap at a student like Jonah before. She didn't humiliate him like miss Wheatley though, just lost her shit, it's fkn scary seeing a teacher lose it.
Haha same. I love Summer Heights High. I really thought before I knew who Chris Lilley was that Jamie was just a really ugly girl lol. Angry Boys is great too. The Japanese mom is spot on. Now Lunatics. Excellent.
I know so many teachers like this. I don't think that she was right to snap at jonah, she wasn't patient at all. To stand out the front of class and ask him any words starting with a T and then ask if he even knows what it looks like is cruel and humiliating and wouldn't solve any of Jonah's issues at all.
As much as I think that Jonah is funny, I think that he should've been home schooled after this instead of going to another school. Especially after being expelled 3 times.
i dl-ed the entire season and glad i came across this one. sorta feel bad because though jonah tends to rile her feathers up, seems like the teacher had it out for him to begin. i think at least
Well, im Australian, and ive never had a teacher like that, theyre not allowed to yell at us, let alone throw the books off the table they would be fired, or worse...
she wasnt patient at all she just tried to ignore him and subdue him, his other teacher i cant remember her name, she was really patient and actually got through him. but yes the lady that plays miss wheatley is a wonderful actress i just hate her character.
why are there people commenting on here saying this is funny? it's not supposed to be funny at all. brilliant acting by chris lilley and the woman who plays miss wheatley in particular. this is an eerily realistic portayol of how disruptive students with learning difficulties can be treated by teachers.
this happens soo often, there will be a problem student in a class, and then anytime anything goes wrong around them, like others talking or starting a fight they will ALWAYS get the blame, and be humiliated by the teacher, and then teachers wonder y they continue 2 act up and don't make an effort. its because they no even if they try they will still get balmed 4 heaps of stuff they don't even do
only jonah is the actor (chris lilley) in this clip - the rest of the characters are real. chris lilley filmed this series "summer heights high" at a real public school, with real students and teachers.
Teachers are human beings. Not superhuman. They should be in school to teach and NOT have respond to constant provocation that builds up and up and destroys people. The fact we expect teachers to deal with such bullshit daily, is a tragedy of society. It is brilliantly acted though, it so resembled a breakdown. I have seen it happen to former colleagues thus I empathise with the character, not the provoker. Don't teach anymore, I push tin, less stress tonnes more cash.
shes nowhere near an idiot in real life...i acted with her this summer and she is the sweetest person you will ever meet...and one of the best and hardest working actors i've met...if you want to blame anything blame the script...which hmm was written by the guy who gets called out...how about that??
She is a fantastic actor. Who here HASN'T had a teacher EXACTLY like that???
She acts that wonderfully well, she was patient all the time with Jonah and his constant rule-breaking and disruption. Then she finally snaps and proves she has had enough, and really gets emotional when she throws his things across the room, excellent realism from the teacher. Good writing aswell.

I realise that this comment is extremely old but if you're still there, is she like this in real life? lol
"do you know what the letter "t" looks like?"
"Dont Fuck with me Miss"

You can only stretch the rubber band so far before it finally snaps. That’s exactly what happened to Miss Wheatley.
This was a very well acted and uncomfortably realistic scene
'Don't fuck with me miss you'll regret it'
hahahahah fucking legend
I never liked Miss Wheatley but wow her actress nailed this scene 100% especially when she snapped
Lol me neither, she did a good job of acting as a teacher who's had enough though, I've seen a teacher snap at a student like Jonah before. She didn't humiliate him like miss Wheatley though, just lost her shit, it's fkn scary seeing a teacher lose it.

He can't be home-schooled. His dads dumb af
that student has talent.
one of the best shows that has ever been on TV. as well as we can be heroes
1:28 When she said it started by letter T, I think she was giving Jonah another opportunity to snap some bad word by that letter.
Don't like those boys who bullying people in year 7 boys yes fight them people who cannot commarate on put themselves study
It is acting my friend.
Kristy Barnes-Cullen plays Sarah Wheatley
Chris Lilley plays Jonah Taklaua for that season.
Damn she's bangin.
Best scene in the whole series!
I had a teacher called mrs blanco i called her miss blanket and she yelled at me worse than mrs wheatly yelled at jonah
collingwoodrules go pies not funny childish can tell your a kid
Just for that
Some teachers are misery gutses who can’t take a joke
This is how some of the teachers are at my school, but like 95% of them are REALLY awesome! Just about 5% of them are like Miss Wheatley xD

@ToManyPhones here even if they see it they take it away and don't get it back until after school sometimes they call parents.

lol ironic how shes the one that's interrupting the class

nah, they are all actors, bud. all of the main characters are actors.
This looks familrr reminds me of my school lol
Hhaha faaaa wadda hardout dude
Jonah so funny

@XxGoCrazyGurlxX that wouldnt work at all. Beating kids does nothing other than make them angry, hurt, and likely to beat their kids.

The students in summer height high school cannot communicate on work to be quite in classroom
The classes

i feel sorry for her aye...imagine her position Jonaaaaaaaaaaaah!
she can't take his book and throw it.
Super demeaning when she was asking him if he even know what T looks like I would have told her the same thing.
