- TODAY its time to give the greatest race in the world, the INDIANAPOLIS 500 a shot in Project CARS 2. With the AI updates to the oval racing this will be a very exciting and competitive race.
I will be driving Helio Castroneves's "Yellow Submarine" Pennzoil Penske Special, the same car that Helio will try to get his record tying 4th Indy win in this Sunday.
Can I get the victory against a tough field of competitors in a 100 mile race?

I finished a Memorial Day Triple yesterday. F1 in Monaco on F1 2017. Indy 500 on PC2. Coca-Cola 600 on NASCAR Heat 2. All 100 % length races. I finished 1st at Monaco in a Haas, 3rd at Indy in Ed Carpenter's car, 1st at Charlotte in Alex Bowman's car. I was EXHAUSTED!

Monaco is about 1:30 hrs, Indy I guess 2-3 hours and same for Charlotte. Also, you won in a Haas? Career or quick race?

Just got into the indycars in Pcars2 myself. I was pleasantly surpriced with how it has improved. But damn is it difficult! Good stuff!
Love this game but I absolutely cannot handle these Indycars at Indy. I think I need a proper setup.
They need to fix the Honda IndyCar usually when I use it I slip
Just run the whole practice session on stable, and go to the race engineer for adjustments. You can dial the Honda in to where you can run almost wide open, through an entire fuel run, with only a couple of shifts per lap.
Turn down the Boost PSI, I had the same problem, I use 95% but I have worked up from 80.
Good race. Nice commentary through the race. You have a good tone and voice for the commentary.
I love the engine sound for the indy cars in this game.

What In Carnation? I have a full day of racing Sunday. I’m starting out with F1 in Monaco.
I never was really a big fan of any style of oval racing. I think the streams of esports indy racing got me more inclined on it. Hopefully i can catch a race irl with my usual f1 race next year. Imma run a race like this when i get home today.
I played the demo for 5 mins than immediately ordered the game on Amazon.

Sunday is gonna be a busy day for me this weekend. Starting out listening to the F1 for Monaco at 8am, then switch to Indy 500, then the Charlotte 600 Sunday afternoon. Oh yeah I noticed the Delta Force theme song from the movie at the beginning. Lol. Also what do you have the AI set up at?

What set up do you use? When i tried this game out when it first come out, the indycars were not driveable. Do you have a set up that makes it playable? You seem to do great on the ovals.
Has the game changed since it first came out? Thinking about playing this during this quarantine. Any advice would help.

Yeah they patched it about 6 months into release that improved the oval racing dramatically. I'd give it a shot!
I did the Memorial Day triple. I only won Monaco and Charlotte.

Its an overlay where he took the replay footage most likely and overlayed it after the race
When ever I do an Indycar oval race I get a flat tire going into turn 1 on the first lap does anyone else have that problem?
Did you adjust tyre pressure? The pressure rises because of the heat they they produce. So if you set the optimal hot pressure while the tyres are still cold it rises to much when actually stressed. Resulting in blown tyres. Although it is strange they heat up so much in the first corner.
My AI Always crashes and I end up going head on into the wall... how do I fix this...
Fun race to watch, it really got me thinking (and let me know what you think of the idea)... what’d be really helpful for racing sims would be the ability to analyze your race. Imagine putting 5 imaginary lines across the track at each corner, from turn-in to the apex to turn-out, and getting an overlay at each line of where your car was on each lap, you could even create a heat map. Add the ability to see which lines your fastest lap took and I’d find it helpful (the WRC does a very neat trick of hovering a drone over corners and overlaying different driver’s lines), what do y’all think? If anyone does make it, I’d like a small percentage please 😁
You can actually do that already in PCars, Assetto Corsa and other Sims.
You just have to use a third party app, and you are good to go :)

What was your gearing setup? I can only get to 230+ in 6th gear running Indy at night for some reason. Haven't found a good day set up yet

can you please make a set up video on this car. It looks really fun and I want to try it myself. Like from me :)
I run his times with the default loose oval setup. I only adjust fuel and gears. The rest I don't touch because setting up a car for an oval is so different from setting up the road version and I have no idea what I am doing. You can always download the world record setup and tweak that. But to enjoy it you really don't need a special setup.

I ran the Indianapolis oval race with 85 skill 70 aggression. I just started using 100 today for road courses. I am actually surprised to see the AI not scaling up as much as I expected.

Can someone (I have NASCAR Heat 4, I like oval racing) anyone who’s got far more experience on pCARS2 than me recommend a car/oval combination solution that works? Please? I’ve seen this video above, another saying you can’t run more than 12 cars and the video is called ‘ovals finally fixed’ or words to that effect.

lee graves Yes I'd say using a wheel is far better. I've got a thrust master tmx.

lee graves you can steer more smoothly and accurately with a wheel and pedals. You just need somewhere to set them up. I think David Land uses a Logitech G29. He mentions it briefly in his IndyCar grand prix video from 2 weeks ago.
Using a wheel feels more natural and realistic Imo.
i would say a wheel would ALWAYS be better in any case......i used the logitech g920 for the xbox one and i love it

Question- David, when you mention these other drivers names, does Project Cars, use the actual driver stats for those cars, and they are really performing like them, or are they just generic AI cars that you are using names for just because you know racing so well. Project cars 2 online is one of the worse racing experiences I’ve had. You can’t do a race where someone will not try to crash into others on purpose
