I thought I'd add a tip or two. That nylon cam that you discuss @1:57 that can be twisted 90˚ to release the bumper can also be released from INSIDE the truck, by popping off a couple of trim pieces (10 second job). That's better for the cam, as it will prevent wearing out the part, and creating a less solid connection upon reassembly. That's particularly important on reassembly, because accessing that crappy cam with an 8mm wrench and ensuring that it slots above the metal retention bracket is virtually impossible if you've had to replace your bumper and migrated the old bracket to your new bumper (it has to sit HARD flush/tight on the inside of the new plastic bumper to give you a chance to pull it off, and you'll notice that the nylon cam has a notch in the channel under the wings which indicates that the cam has to be turned RIGHT to engage properly). I fiddled with them for over an hour before having the epiphany of releasing them from the inside of the trunk. You don't have to worry about stripping them at all now: just pop off those cams from inside the trunk, attach them/twist them into place on the bumper before you reinstall, and it's easy/breezy, George & Wheezy. Also: when you're speaking of 'spiking' your pulls, you're correct - but your video shows you pulling at a somewhat upward angle. Don't do that: pull dead back. That allows those hard white clips to release from the bumper - or stay on the bumper and release from the car - in exactly the direction that the clip's grooves are pointed. This is your best chance to avoid breaking those clips, as they are strong, but kinda brittle.
i’m 7 years late but do you know if there’s any way to get a replace retaining clip by the muffler? the one that holds up that little bit between the exhaust tips, i’m missing one completely
Yea, that nylon is weak, but instead of fighting more trim, I was able to rotate it off, but as stated, hard to twist back when reassembling it, I drilled a hole in the nylon and tapped a hex head in, this should resolve the issue, but likely won't be back in there anyway...lol. now I just need a small 5/32 wrench to twist it, its still a bad spot, but manageable now. TY for vid
I found them.. looks like theres two different kinds.. one i believe from hard plastic and another one from particel board.... which would u recommend? Also they around around 150-250 dor a set
If you don't have a lot of area to cover do the plastic as it won't have any issues if it gets hit with moisture. We get a MDF version at our shop has it's dense and relatively cheap. Plus we have a lot of area in our shop. But it can be easily damaged by water, so we paint it.
Very nice and informative video on how to remove he rear bumper on a z! Thank you for that. By the way i been looking for the same tool hanger you have in your wall.... that wood liner trim that you can hang tools on... any thoughts of whre to find it? Thanks man
Is there a way to get to that boot release button without taking this bumper off? I couldn't see it on your bumper did you remove it? My boot has started magically opening by itself and I think it is that switch that is the issue.
Yeah I have, I have unplugged the actuator and can still hear the relay in the front of the car going crazy intermittently even if the car is parked with no keys in it. The rear bumper was off for panel beating recently and am thinking/hoping they didn't plug it in properly ( cheapest fix ). Any other ideas welcome, i'm hoping it isn't the BCM though.
So far so good. Ended up having to remove the bumper and servicing the switch and plugs, lots of corrosion. Hopefully it stays that way. Bumper removal vid help heaps. cheers!
+DEMR1992 Yes I am. I'm going to bring the bumper to the shop tomorrow morning and ask if they can do a blend on the bumper, cause there's a good chance it won't look right if they just paint the whole bumper, given the paint on the car is older now.
DEMR1992 I hope so. Besides RUclips this car is going to hit up local meets and hopefully a couple car shows. Stay tuned for the bumper light install and I plan to finish the enclosure soon.

Wish i read this😂
Any tips on popping out those cams from inside the trunk?
With the trim of the trunk interior popped off just give the backs of the a lil cams a squeeze to the release the clips. That is if it’s not broken
Thanks mike!
Good vídeo ! Thanks for showing the inside of the stick bumper , specially the slide parts !
Glad the video helped 🙂

I'm in Vancouver Canada
anybody know if the JDM removal is similar if not identical?
I don't think so. Do you have the sensor?

07 350z Look up slot wall. I get it from Home Depot or private lumber retailers.
what size are the fasteners
Don't remember
how do you actually get to those plastic fasteners where you have to turn it to a 90 degrees?
+mary I just used an open ended wrench to turn them.
thank you for the video really helpful now we need front bumper
+Omar Ortega Haha, was the first turn signal video enough? ;P
Font bumper is super easy.

Jimmy Anderson Did you check the manual release under the rear strut brace to make sure it's not releasing the door?

Jimmy Anderson I'd check to see if there is a separate relay and replace it.

are you worried that the new paint and the faded paint might not match? cool video

Exalent video
Thank you!
Broke two of the top tabs but, the tab in the middle and left and right corners are fine 😂 so it looks fine😂
Well at least it looks good.
AnthonyJ350 still hurt my heart tho
Honestly what the fuck was Nissan thinking with that plastic retainer. My 8mm won't grab it.
Manufacturing ease > Serviceability
I broke like 3 Clips....it was starting to piss me off so I just went for it.....Oops
