At 00:56 i knew EXACTLY where you where at...No it didn't get there by accident.lol..anxiously i waited for you's to get to the overlook of the lake...Born & raised in Chimayo i recognized the road immediately ..Bernado Abeyta that built the Santaurio church was one of my Great Great Grandfathers...the tiny houses to the left of the church belonged to my great grandparents & the other to the brother (great Tio of mine. As a little girl I'd see my great gramita sell her tamales from her door ,but every year on Good Friday & Easter she was busy selling the best tamales while making more,Her kitchen smelled so Good...i remember watching her put her money under her table clothe. In my mind i thought every kid had a Gramita that lived near a famous church thier Grand relative built..now a few years back the tiny houses were sold & belong to the church,at times thier churches gift shops...I still live in Chimayo.I am one of my ancestors that came from Spain to Chimayo on both my Father & Mothers side...Thank you for visiting Chimayo NM..Im Happý you liked it enough to make a video.
Thank you God Bless & be Safe.

It's pronounced "key-my-oh" . It's kinda weird but that's most places in NM are pronounced kinda funny. Love these videos!

Clay!!! Thank you so very much for setting us straight on the pronunciation! Dang. Wish we'd realized before we made/posted the video. We watched a different video about Chimayo several weeks after putting ours up. They pronounced it like you just shared, and we thought, "Ut oh." We try to fact check and have everything correct before a video goes up. We clearly missed this one.

@@wobblyotteroutdoors I was born here in New Mexico and I have heard the way you said it in the video a million times, never once heard it start with a "Key" sound, ever.
