Who in their right mind gives this a thumbs down? This man is a genius.
Thank you man! I get a fair amount of thumb downs for some reason lol. Somebody, somewhere is always getting offended I guess.
@@SipandFeast Making this tonight all the way down here in the Australian capital.
Hope you enjoy it!
@@SipandFeast Trolls... they get paid to do it. Just Sick!!!
I absolutely love your channel, and your kids and just everything. It would however be nice if you could pull the blind in your kitchen. It would be nice to let some light in...
just saying, in love of course. God Bless
@@SipandFeast Maybe they have something against good food.
Just a tip on the tomato paste: I open both ends of the can and just push the paste out leaving next to zero paste left in the can.
Good idea. Never thought of that!
Love, love, love your page! Italian woman from New Rochelle NY here. Bringing me right back to my childhood. Thank you
My wife says this was the best sauce I've ever made. This after 10 years of trying! Thanks, can't wait to try another of your recipes. Just found you today
That's great it turned out so well! Welcome to the channel!
@@SipandFeast HI, may ask why you don't put oil with the pasta to cook? Bc I've always done that, so it won't stick! Thx my friend!
He is terrific. The food channels should have content like this instead of shoving drama and extreme personalities down our throats!
Wow. Just found him today and you have already made the sauce? Genius.
@@SipandFeastcan you put the sauce in the oven? How long, what temperature?
Making this sauce today to serve to guests tomorrow! Thank you for your recipes!
Fabulous sauce, absolutely loved it!! Will make again for sure.
I made this sauce tonight and I cannot thank you enough. This will now be how I make my meat sauce going forward. Everyone was so impressed and I was really proud.
I am dying to try it too!!! Thank you so much!
Man, I love Ragu. We had an Italian family over the back garden from us. I'll be for ever grateful to the two old Nonna's for showing my Mum how to cook meat Ragu.
Scotland in the 70's?......Italian food was from another Galaxy!!
I’m definitely making this tonight. Looks so yummy 🤤 And I’ve also subscribed because these recipes look amazing. Thank you!
I’ve started making Italian following these guidelines, and I’m really appreciative. Good stuff!
How did I become addicted to this channel from watching 5 mins of this video? Not complaining 😂
Tried this out last weekend and it was fantastic. This must be similar to how my mom used to make spaghetti because it tasted almost identical. So so good.
I can't even begin to tell you how much this recipe has changed my life. Thanks so much Jim.
This looks great
made this tonight and oh my god I'm in love, thank you so much for this recipe
I love this channel these recipes are A++++
Love these videos mate
I might use Italian sausage. And for this, I’ll definitely use the onion! I was a bit surprised you used white wine instead of red. But, you know what you’re doing and I’ll do it as well! As always, this looks so hearty and delicious.
jim watching this and it sooo takes me back to my dad. mom died 1981 / dad died 1983 . he was the master of chili and pasta dishes.and of course eggs lololol... dads chilli/pasta meat dishes were OVER LOADED with any kinda of meat you could cut up and put in a pot...pork/beef/sausages hot med. mild. / pepperoni fresh to sticks.../ venison..deer/ elk / moose it wouldnt surprise me if he put anchovies in it too .. his chillies/ sauces /pasta dishes.. was a SERIOUS MEAT MEAL all on its own.... you didnt have room for breads/salads or dessert. and until you were in agony from being full or your gut phyicaly extended... he wasnt happy.... he wanted you to get the FULL EXPERIENCE literally, lololol . i soo miss him, and what severed it even futher is ,,,,,i lost my oldest bro and oldest sister all in a yrs time...and his wife. now waiting on my sisters hubs to join her...its been a rough yr already. but.... i wanted to share with you my dads idea of meat sauces...lololol .. oh and he wasnt itailian.... he was french canadian. have a great wkend;];] love your channel;];];]

This guy is amazing, I am going to try this sauce for lasagna this weekend! His Sunday gravy recipe is to die for!
Thank you and I hope you enjoy the lasagna!
Making some this afternoon and I am so excited!!
Thanks! Hope you enjoy it!
I can't believe how easy this was. I've made sauce in the past and decided bottled was better. NOT anymore. This is amazing. Thx
I love they way you explain it. It's your recipe but you make it our own.
Thanks so much!
Going to make this tomorrow.
Looks tremendous!
Thank you!
That looks really really good. I know it's not very popular but I do like to finish my sauce with just a little pinch of sugar. It adds a perfect amount of sweetness.
I love this guy and his recipies. He needs his own TV show.
Nice job. Thank you.
Thanks very much!
Jim. Absolutely loving your channel.
Thanks so much!
This is a dream 😍 craving this so much 😱
Thanks very much!
You make food fit for the Gods. I haven’t enjoyed a channel so much in years. You’re awesome. Your food is awesome. You need to publish a book. You deserve it. And so does my kitchen shelf 🤭 🤘
lol thank you! I really appreciate the support🙏
Ok. My Italian grandma from Naples taught us grand kids to use lots of crushed red pepper for heat, basil and an additional sweet white onion left whole to sweeten and cut the tang of all the tomatoes, and oregano and lots of Parmesan cheese at the end. Cook and stir for 4 hours! (My mother used to call it the “4 hour gravy”!) 😊Mmmmm yum! 😋
Another delicious dish.
Thanks so much Nancy!
OMG!!!! I have to make this one tomorrow!!!!
I hope you enjoy it!
This is almost exactly how I make mine, but I have to omit both the onion and garlic due to allergies, and I add a little fresh basil right before letting it simmer. If I don't have any wine, I'll put a little balsamic vinegar in right after getting the tomato paste heated up and let that cook out, then add the tomatoes. I use it for several things, regular pasta, lasagna, even in place of pizza sauce, or just heating some up and dipping homemade cheese bread into it. Looks amazing!
Just subscribed. Ur a super-doll 4listing all the ingredients &the instructions. Keep up the good work, cuz some of us need 2learn how2 cook. A million thanx.
Thanks so much! For my newer videos all of the ingredients are still listed but they are in the written description. Really appreciate you watching and thanks for the feedback!

Thanks so much! I appreciate you checking out the channel🙏
I love it!! This is an awesome recipe and not really hard to make either. I'm all about the pasta! (Oh and Bread... gotta have a good crusty bread for dipping!!!😄)
i been using the fire roasted crushed tomatoes x2 to 1 whole tomatoes like you said its all about what you like i did double the onion an garlic cant go wrong either way
Found your channel a few days ago. We made the spaghetti and meat sauce.
We followed the recipe, simmered for 2 1/2 hours. Outstanding! Thank you. Looking forward to tomorrow , to see how the flavors come together.
Here in Southern Missouri, variety for pasta at the local market is a little thin. The next on the menu, Sunday gravy. 😁
So glad you enjoyed it. Hope the Sunday gravy turns out great too!
another great job
Thanks man!
Oh wow. I just found your channel yesterday and I love how you cook! You have very similar techniques to me. And I buy so much from Costco too! This looks delicious!
Thanks very much and welcome to the channel! I do love Costco lol.
@@SipandFeast, I have a Costco 5 minutes from me:) Brooklyn born here living in NJ!

This is going on the meal list this week!
Thanks! Hope you enjoy it!
Amazing recipe. So simple but so good. Used it to make Jim's lasagna. 5 stars out of 5 for both. Beyond reproach!
Glad you enjoyed it. This is the sauce I often use for lasagna so glad it worked out for you!
Looks BANGING dude
Thanks very much!
My family and I wanted to do an Italian Christmas dinner this year! I was so worried about getting the perfect recipe for meat sauce and lasagna but this looks like it’s what I was looking first to make our perfect Christmas dinner. I’m gonna use this and the lasagna recipe! Any thoughts on garlic bread recipes?!
So I saw your baked meatballs vs fried and Yooo!! Baked is the way to go. So good.
Glad you enjoyed them that way!
We have a very similar cooking style you're awesome glad I found your Channel.
Thanks so much!
This guy's so skilled at cooking he can talk about cooking without moving his lips. True dedication.
Hi vlan. Agreed. Simple but perfect. You're not a computer networker are you by chance? The VLAN reference.
I’m in awe at the size tins you use, in the UK we call these catering sized tins!
Great classic gravy. I’d love to see your take on a puttanesca
You’re a regular guy, not a chef who knows his Italian food and how to cook it! i love it! Coming from an Italian household, I’m very impressed
Thanks so much!
Just wanted to let you know as others have that your keep it simple with simple ingredients recipes have hit a real niche for us home cooks. I've made several of your dishes and none have failed to get compliments. You cook a lot like I do except you were smart enough not to make the recipes a 10 ingredient lab experiment like I was doing. Now that i've cut back on the complexity, the dishes are coming out with better flavor and certainly better consistency. Keep it up and I will find out how to support the channel.
Thank you! I think for things like this, it's assumed that if you're not adding a lot of spices, herbs, etc that it can't be good. I find that "less is more" almost always works out better.
I got a pound of ground beef and a pound of sweet sausage at the farmers market yesterday and am going to make Lasagna for dinner tonight. I am going to use this recipe for the sauce...just need to get some wine (might use a red instead). I think it going to be really good.
Instead of adding pork, I add pieces of Genoa salami for a bit more fat and flavour. Love the channel!
Sounds great! Thanks for liking the channel.
Thanks
Picked up those CENTO's for the first time in the Midwestern market (Ohio) and applied them boys to my standard spicy creole red pasta (it has no name). Boy has that improved the overall texture of the pasta. Handsqueezing is new to me.
Dude… been running through all your videos and loving everyone of them. Dry White wine though? I was blown away. I’m curious, I just made a riff on sausage and peppers with a dry red and was curious if you’ve ever done this with red wine instead? Thanks in advance!
This Sauce Hands down was Amazing 👏 🙌 Thank You!!!
So happy you liked it!
I’m a Black woman who loves Italian cuisine and you are impeccable!!!♥️
Thank you so much!
New Zealand wine FTW.
Ive found I like to add finely diced jalapenos and mushrooms into my meat sauce along with the standard onion ect, It gives it a unique flavor that is quite tasty some and it has a bit of spiciness which is always welcome.
Sounds great! Thanks for sharing.
Just add calabrian chilis to it, it will taste better than Jalapenos and be more authentic
@@miked3168 Jalapenos is what I do for other people for myself I use habaneros because I like heat
@@miked3168 Or red pepper flakes.
You're such a chill guy and great cook, I'm very glad I bumped into your channel. This seems tasty as always! I really need to get a Dutch oven:p
Thanks very much and welcome to the channel!
one of the best recipes I've had also since I'm Armenian I added bell peppers and parsley lol
I only ever use your recipes now when cooking Italian, love your videos and recipes! ❤
I love your channel! You’re an amazing cook! I have 1 question: Why do you use white wine instead of red wine in this sauce??
Yeah, that’s the way to do it!
Thanks very much!
you the man
He gives you the explicit steps, follow him or not. I choose to follow this man.
Holy shit.. you are bringing the flavors… xoxo love the fam ❤️ wow… thank you. From little ol’ Illinois.
I’m definitely making this but would like to make enough to have leftovers to store for multiple dishes. How do you recommend storing the sauce? And how long can it be stored either refrigerated and or frozen? Recently found your channel and I gotta say the content is fantastic! You do a great job of breaking down all the steps to make some delicious dishes. Do you have any videos showing how to make an Alfredo sauce? Thanks for the great content!
Hey thanks! This meat sauce series is structured to make a bunch of recipes with this sauce. I would store it in the fridge for up to about 5 days. Otherwise, just freeze it in containers and thaw the day you need it - I often do that. I just posted fettuccine alfredo on my website with step by step instructions. It's such an easy recipe that I'm not sure a video is needed. That being said I'll probably make one at some point. Thanks for liking the channel and I appreciate your support!
Just found your channel and subscribed. Love it already! Can’t wait to try this recipe!!
I like that you keep the fat in. Too many people are afraid to do so, but it imparts flavor. (Yes, too much is no good) but it’s kind of like pasta e fagioli, I throw the whole can of beans in there, I don’t care, I think it makes it more “fazooli” richness (plus great cheese). Also, I add a little beef stock to my meat sauce. I like the way you cook!
I sometimes add a bit of beef stock too. Thanks for liking the recipes!
heck yeah!
My Mom always used to add a couple of bay leaves to her sauces. Do you think this adds flavor to meat sauce or not so much? Love all your recipes & videos. I have noticed that I salivate as soon as I see the latest recipe. I take this as a compliment to your cooking skills. If only there was smellavision it would be amazing.
I like bay leave in stews. I normally don't add to sauce like this, but you must add what you like and what works for you. Appreciate you watching and thanks for the compliments!
Both. Yes sometimes. No if the store is too far at the time.
What is the total simmering time for your meat sauce recipe? Love your channel. Your recipes are amazing.
Looking jacked here bro
Great video. I've navigated the series. But I don't recall you adding pasta water to the sauce. Did I miss something? When is is appropriate or recommended? Thanks so much. I've learned a lot. I must rely on you because the family experts have long since passed. Thanks again and God Bless.
It's interesting how you forego the Italian spices.
i watch your videos with a glass of wine--for inspiration, and just to unwind.
Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying them.
Your ragù di carne macinata looks delizioso! I also use ground veal in addition to the ground beef and pork. 😊🇮🇹🇨🇦
Thanks very much!
Thankyou Awesome recipe.
Thanks very much!
SUPREME!
One thing that is overlooked with some of your recipes is how they scale up and down the finance spectrum. You could go all out with organic ingredients, DOP tomatoes, grass finished beef and heritage pork. Or, you can go with more affordable ingredients. Either way you come out with a lot of food for your family!
Hey thanks! I always try to stress that you can good results with affordable ingredients. Appreciate you watching and thanks for the feedback!
Thank you sir,.. nice gravy
Thanks very much!
damn near got married again for this sauce!
I used 80/20 and ground pork, followed the video, my sauce did not have same consistency before I added tomatoes...it was thin and slightly runny, I added tomatoes, the liquid rose to the top. Did I use too much olive oil? Or should I have drained a little of the fat? I was very frustrated with my effort, the sauce looks amazing....any input greatly appreciated from any and all...thanks. Awesome channel!
Cooler weather has arrived and I am ready to make some of your awesome recipes, starting with this meat sauce. Since I have Italian sausage, what are your thoughts on using it in place of the ground pork?
Cooler weather is definitely here. I'm not trying to dissuade you from the meat sauce, but I also have a video for a spicy sausage ragu. ruclips.net/video/mqKAn6CURuA/видео.html Check that one out too since you have the Italian sausage already. You can really interchange ground beef, pork, or sausage in most of these ragu recipes so you'll be good either way!
Wow looks great
Thank you!
Where's the Italian herbs? Or at least some basil 😳
But, looks delish!
My ex father in law was Italian. He and i had gardens every year in Michigan.
We would get together and make sauce for the winter.
We would put fresh basil leaves in the bottom of the jars and then add the sauce! Belisimo 💗
