Good till cancel "stop loss" orders don't protect in pre / extended markets as far as I know. If PayPal shits the bed on an earnings call after the market closes, and on the next market open it's down 50%, you just took a heavy dump. Now you have sold at a loss, meanwhile sentiment changes 20 minutes later and the stock reverses, it's now up for the day and you are out at a loss. Pretty common theme after earnings digestion.
The trailing stop might be the better exit over the stop

Question - Would there not still be risk if bad news came out after hours in trading and the stock dropped massive. Like Apple did here recently. Would the lowest you can get hit still be the stop loss or could it exceed that in the after hours and fall below on the open then you can get caught? Thanks for any info. Been curious on that point. Thank you.
