Wow, Headmistress Cass was spot on with this diy. Danny, that Olivander's logo looks so beautiful. I agree that a clear finish would definitely help keep the logo sticker in place.
As a tip: if you mix saw dust from cutting with white glue, you can create a clay like thing, that will have the same color as the wood you've used. This good for 'hiding your crimes,' as you can use this putty as filler, and shape it to create a washer that can go on top of the hole drilled. Than if the hole is too big it can be filed and shaped, or just ensure the size of the hole at the top, can hold the wand snugly.
Great DIY! Pro tip for drilling wood: start with a smaller bit, and also tape the area that you're going to drill. There's less tear when you drill. :) Super excited for all future projects!
Beautiful! You also can make it cheaper cutting in half only one circle of wood and glue the halves. Another way to age the wood is burning the surface whith some soldering flame torch, and then wire brush it. When clean, you can apply the colour of stain you like more, and wax it when dry.
About a year ago, my dad and I made a wand stand that we designed ourselves. It hangs on my wall in my room. It is made out of wood with a very pretty stain ( I forgot which one we used), and six hooks. At the top, we put a metal Hogwarts crest that we made with a handheld tool. I really wish I could send you a picture of it. Your beautiful Olivander’s stand reminded me to tell you about it:)
Just throwing this out there for anyone making this in the future, wood glue is the absolute strongest way to attach wood together, you dont need screws in it for it to hold forever. Start with a small drill bit because it will be much easier to keep the hole straight. And as far as staining it, you need to wait 15 minutes then wipe it off no matter what, stain builds up and stays sticky forever, if you need it darker then let it dry and reapply it. Hope that helps guys.
This is pretty cool Danny! I recommend putting some black or brown felt on the bottom to both finish it off and keep the screws from scratching up any surface the stand will be displayed on (:
I took furniture and cabinet making in school and watching this just made my head just throb. I know it's a learning experience and the project looks good it's just how you did certain things that need to be worked on. I'm not trying to be mean if I am I'm sorry but I can tell you some stuff to know about working with wood so the project will be amazing and you have less of a chance of injuring yourself.
Oh my goodness!! The timing couldn’t be more perfect! I was just planning a wand display and I love this even more, definitely going to try this out! 😍⚡️
Love all of your DIYs! I can’t wait to get some free time, so many cool things to make ☺️ Thank you for all of the work you put in, to make these DIYs possible for us!
Hey Danny if you want a better fix for that middle whole. Buy some epoxy putty or, any kind that you can drill in will work, and stuff it into the whole to fill it up. Then once it’s hardened you can re drill the hole for your wand. Most of them come in dark colors, so it would blend in with your stand. You can always paint it once it’s dry as well. :)
For the Olivander Label, you could always use masking tape across the logo, peel the backing away, then stick the masking taped logo onto the wood. Next, burnish (rub vigorously) the logo down to the wood. Then just peel the masking tape back. And your logo is placed perfectly.
This could work in some cases, but because I put the cold foil on I was worried tape or transfer sheets would pull some of it off. Plus the design was so tiny and intricate, it would still be a lot of work to get it on the transfer sheets.
Love this project! Won't be able to do it, since I lack all of the needed tools, but I will keep it for the future...One never knows :) Fabulous work! ♥
Nicely done Danny. Could you do video tutorials builds for the Founder's Relics? like the Gryffindor Sword, Slytherin's locker, Ravenclaw's Diadem, and Hufflepuff's Chalice. Or something darker like a death eater's mask. Or the Tri-Wizard cup, cause of it's seer awesomeness. please??
Lovely to see you step out of your comfort zone. ;-) I love this make and I’m SO gonna make one myself. I’m not too bad with wood myself so I may go bigger. I’ll share it on my channel when it’s done. I have so many cool ideas for Harry Potter makes. I’ll credit you, obviously.
That is very cool! I love that you made a template to cut on your Cricut. Vinyl might be an easier medium to work with than sticker paper. It does come in gold. Vinyl would also stick better.
Hey Danny, Sinfulmax here. So as its approaching Halloween soon I'm doing lots of HP party DIY. Would love your suggestion on how to recreate the orange floating lanterns in the scene where Luna and Harry are walking to Slughorns party. I think they would look awesome. Some sort of Chinese lantern with helium in it. Still haven't ironed out the details lol
Nice project! There is an easier way to space out the holes for the wands though - take a strip of paper whose length is exactly the same as the circumference of the half circle, then fold it into as many equal parts as you need, starting at the centre to ensure symmetry. Then unfold the paper and where the creases are is where you drill your holes :)
Be careful how you were running that through the table saw. Being round, if it turned between the fence and blade it will pinch and shoot out backwards towards you. Fun project though. Thanks!
If you use the wirebrush, steadily clamp the board to a table!!!! I kept saying **NONONONONO** almost al through the video! On DOES NOT drill a board freehand! You could have endet up drilling through your hand!!!! The holes for the wands should be drilled after glueing the two boards together! Please please please give a warning that kids shouldn't use any!!!!! tool without supervision!!!!!
Also, the reason your top section may have been loose on the bottom board is becuase the holes your pre drilled for the screws may have been a little too big for the size screw you used. If you're going to pre drill holes for a screw you need to make sure the bit you use is SMALLER than the diameter of the threads on the screw you're using. I usually try to match the hole bit to the diameter of the center shaft of the screw NOT including the threads. The threads need some wood to bite into to get a nice tight grab.
Now I look like the pronunciation nut but it's like "Renee" but with a D-though I'm never offended when someone mispronounces my name- it's an uncommon name spelled super weird- so no worries. I only mention because you questioned it. I just wanted to add that Jim Dale says BE-zoar in the Harry Potter audible books which I've heard a million times- my daughter streams them all the time so to me be-ZOR sounded so. wrong but I guess both are correct?
Start with a large half circle and then a smaller in front of that and smaller stepped again in front of that one. Stagger the holes and it would look great!
It doesn't necessarily surprise me that Michael Gambon pronounced bezoar differently than convention considering how he pronounced "beauxbatons" in Goblet of Fire. 😂
You should step out of your comfort zone more often cause... Dude... This is brilliant!
Wow, Headmistress Cass was spot on with this diy. Danny, that Olivander's logo looks so beautiful. I agree that a clear finish would definitely help keep the logo sticker in place.
Can you make a quidditch board game next?

@Malene Simonsen ?
That would be so cool

A book about wandlore would be awesome I feel this subject is fairly overlooked

This was my first thought, too. But then I was worried that if I didnt cut it exactly down the middle they wouldn't match up right.
@@wizardryworkshop That's true. And wood could be a little bit tricky. The results are awesome! Congratulations!

Oh my gosh, I did and totally forgot to add it to the video! Oops!
Great job learning something new! You learn from mistakes and get better every time. You can still stain the wand holes.
Love your video’s ! Really love this wand stand! Made myself one too! You can see it in my bookshelftour😃⚡️🦁
You are my favourite youtuber, I love your DIYs and can't wait to do this one myself. Can you please do a wand holster/sheath DIY?
Max Mevissen yeah some leather work would be awesome!
Can you make a wand holster? To access your wand from your hip like a side arm!
So cool!! Can you do a shrunken head like in the night bus??
I would LOVE to see more videos like this. I think I I will actually make this!
Looks great! You could take a small paint brush or q-tip with some stain and put in the holes to cover the raw wood..if you wanted. :)
Superb. You're a legend, Danny uncle....
Amazing. i am quite impressed with your eloquence and expertise in making various Wizarding stuffs
Haha, why am I watching this? I would never be able to make something as cool as this

Cory Benson or use transfer tape. That’s what it’s designed to do.

Good point. Maybe if it was cut into gold vinyl?
Liked, Saved & Subscribed, THANK YOU
Cool project! I have Fred and George's wands with the custom Weasley stand! I splurged on it since they are my favorite characters in the series!!!

I couldn't find vinyl that actually looked like gold foiling. If you know of some send me a link!
Loved it!
Great video! We love this wand display! 👍👍 Too bad for us that you don't make and sell them. Tyfs.
If I can find a good way to do that that doesnt end up costing me an arm and a leg, I definitely would consider it!
@@wizardryworkshop Yay!
If you’re like me and paranoid about damaging the wand, drilling a bit larger so you can line the hole with some sort of fabric might be a good idea
Nice idea! Much better than paper. Haha

Please can u make a replica of the poison that slughorn accidentally gave to Ron? Thank you so much for this Diy🌼
This is amazing Danny 🥰❤
Muggle magic I love your diy can you do book replicas in the future
I love all your videos so keep what you doing
This was amazing! Are you gonna do any more Supernatural DIYs? You could do it for the upcoming season!
Tinkering goblin...
This would be ideal to recreate the new wizarding world logo. Really enjoyed it.
Can this be made in cardboard ?
The loose hole can be fixed by gluing in a dowel and drilling it again.
Awesome! Thank you for the tip!

The bit was definitely smaller than the screws. The problem was that the bottom of the half circle wasn't perfectly straight.
@@wizardryworkshop Aaah. Gotcha. That makes sense. 🤟🏻
Can you make a Voldemort diorama Next
Can you make a Hermione OWLS result?
I need one of these. Too much wand around the room😅
Can You make next Harry Potter wand?
Danny this looks great. I would like very much to help you with a few table saw techniques. I could video chat you on any service .
Cool project but so many ways you could have made this a whole lot easier
I'm always open to different ideas and suggestions.
you should givaway more maps
maybe u could use the sticker paper as a template
Winged keys?

Can you try to make a wand
hi 👋
You should have cut it down, drilled it out, glued it together, screwed it together and then sanded it and stained it. But awesome nonetheless.
Yeah, I actually say the exact same thing in the video. Lol. Just before I add the Ollivander's logo.
@@wizardryworkshop I realized that after I posted it lol a bit premature on my part sorry about that

The way you're using that table saw is so dangerous I can't describe.. be carefull man!
What am I doing that is dangerous?
Why not use gold vinyl and cut the logo on the cricut and then use transfer tape to adhere it?
I couldn't find gold vinyl that actually looked like real gold foil.
@@wizardryworkshop totally fair!
