Hey looking at your portfolio and looking at others made me feel better. I was so worried. I thought I had to have all these poster and edited things … I was genuinely scared. I never worked with computer editing photos n stuff and knowing I can just draw is good to me! Hopefully they like my art even if it’s just on paper
I would say I'm the opposite I'm great at using the softwares and most of my things are logos, posters and edited stuff. I also have a couple of sketches but that's most definetly not my strong suit. I'm applying this year and not sure if what I have is "enough"
@@alfred.designs tbh I did have more or less the same concept as yours and they didn’t take me telling me I didn’t go “deep” enough into my projects … questioned myself why this n why that more… :/ well one down one to go 🤞🏼
Thank you for sharing ur portfolio! I’m hoping to get in george brown college as a digital experience design at 2022!! I’m a international student too. Wish me luck!
hi Alfred! thanks for sharing this helps give me a base on what to include for my portfolio :D may I ask if you think the program at George brown is helpful for those interested in editorial graphic design/layouts
Hi Alfred! Thanks for sharing this video it's really motivated me. Is it okay to make a design portfolio based on traditional medium? I'm so worried about my portfolio. I'm good enough in drawing and painting I almost know how to work with different materials but I've never worked with computer stuff and do digital things.
Hey! I'm assuming you're also planning to take a Graphic Design program. Yes, you could add traditional mediums to your portfolio but from my experience, some schools also ask for diverse pieces so you may need to add some digital work into the mix. Don't feel you need to be an expert when creating digital pieces for your school portfolio. Most of the technical skills could be learned in the program, what they are looking for (as cliche as it may sound) is your design talent and potential! Hope that helps!
@@alfred.designs Thank you so much😍❤️I'll try my best to learn digital and do some digital art as well. I guess it's better to put both digital and traditional artwork in my portfolio. You help me a lot😍
I’m excited for you! You would be exposed to a lot of aspects in design (branding, web design, illustration). Which is going to be fun. But I would advise you to find which one excites you the most. All the best in your journey! 👏🏼
Hey there, amazing work. I was looking at the college website, they have no MA in Graphic design. Did you also apply to the three year course? You have said that you already had some experience. I mean your portfolio work is amazing!!! , So did going to Georgebrown college help?? Thanks.
Yep! I also applied to the 3 year program. I did not finish the program because I wanted more courses on UI/UX and/or Web design (although they have them as electives on later semesters). I only did 1 semester but the program is helpful in terms of improving your design process and creating your portfolio.
Are you planning to apply for a Graphic Design program? I hope you find this helpful.

Amazing portfolio!! How did u print your drawings ?did u print them by yourself or at a shop?
Thank you! For my drawings I scanned them using the Adobe Scan app and printed them at Staples.
@@alfred.designs ohh did u print your photographs at staples as well?
@@msoh5177 so I had the photos printed in a different printing shop
Should I have a formal tone in my portfolio? Or can I just keep it casual and colloquial? (No slang)
Sir I'm applying for the very same thanks for your guidance any other advice?
