Hey guys! Can you do me a favor? Go to our channel page and click on the lil' bell next to the 'Subscriber' button (and subscribe if you haven't!)-- then you'll get a notification whenever we post a new video! It'd help us out a lot and I'd really appreciate it.
love your videos and watch every one at least once (with youtube red even), but no, i don't want more notifications. texts from mom, yes. youtube videos, no. hope you're ok with that.
Long time watcher here! So many people don't know that DIAMONDS can be fluorescent too!!! I'm a jewelry designer/salesperson and personally think it's so cool to have it (a band I wear has some that are and some that aren't fluorescent)- it's like a hidden secret! Emily, I love your videos so much!!! I would love to explore the hall of gems with you someday!!!
I feel like every high school has a teacher like Jim; they’re so dorky you’re almost embarrassed by them, but everyone loves them anyway because they’re so excited about what they teach.
Now do one on woods that glow under UV! No joke, some woods also glow under UV. I'm on mobile so I can't link, but search "Peter Brown blacklight", should get the correct result.
Many years ago when I was but a wee 6th grader a did a project on rocks. My dad and I built a light box with a short wave UV light and I found a bunch of florescent rocks and basically spent a good few weeks doing what you guys were just doing.
So excited every time a new video is out. Without sounding creepy I hope to one day meet the awesome Lady that got me interested in science so late in life.
Emily-A note to let you know how important The Brain Scoop is to me. I am guiding my granddaughters toward STEM. One of grampa's tricks is to let them watch youtube videos. I don't fully understand this addiction to the internet the youth have today, but I'm all about leveraging that addiction to expose them to stimulating and edifying content. We are fans of yours, Jessi Knudsen Castañeda, Dianna Cowern, Katelyn Salem, and Vanessa Hill. You are all fantastic role models for my girls. Thank you and please don't stop what you're doing =o)
I'd love to see a video with Jim explaining Opals, what they're all about and why australia has such an apparent abundance, and about opalized wood, and stuff like that :)
I was wondering as you filmed this do glowsticks and pains etc. contain suspensions of the mineral you were talking about or do they use some synthesised chemical mimic?
This was a great video Emily. There is so much energy from the both of you! I think that is what makes this a great video, aside from the awesome fluorescent minerals of course! I enjoy all of your videos, don't get me wrong.
its not exactly all about bees, but Emily made a video about all sorts of insects and the homes they live in that was really really cool ruclips.net/video/u3zoZ_1fcVA/видео.html
Yea, I've seen that video. I'm really interested in Mining and Mason bees, and I love the societal structure that bees have developed. I'd just love more information on bees in-general.
This was such a cool video!!! Was excited since I saw Emily's post on Instagram because I used to collect rocks when I was a little kid, and it blew my mind that some rocks glow!!!!! Ahhhhhh!!!!! So cool!!!
There is (was?) a part of the Royal Ontario Museum's rock and mineral display that was lit just with uv light! I saw it a few years ago, and couldn't believe I'd never seen anything like it before. It's neat to now see the science behind the 'rock rave'.
I DID IT! It took me a while, but I watched every episode in order (except the two that are copyright blocked and the 4 hour beaver dissection). I can't wait for more episodes!
Thank You so much for this great video Emily! Me and my friends watched it at lunch and my friends thought it was awesome. Please keep making these fun videos for Children. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK Sincerely, PugButton
Science rocks! There is a little museum in Joshua Tree that has a cool rock display. As a kid, I loved turning on the black light and just "watching" them in awe. But now I know more, and the awe is joined by Oooooo whoa. Thanks.
I live in a super small city in the Canadian prairies and we actually had an exhibit just like this in our tiny museum. It was a small darkroom with a bunch of glowing minerals. Super cool. Probably the only thing I remember from our lame ass museum.
We filmed it using a Sony A7s camera to help with some of that! I noticed it's a LOT better when you watch it in the dark, especially towards the end when we're discussing phosphorescence.

I love how this channel often makes me wonder how did I live until this day without knowing this

Never imagined a video about minerals would give me flashbacks to early 90s fashion. Well done, Emily!
Emily: "I can't say I've never filmed in the dark."
You rock.
Emily's 1/2 speed 'Wow!' is now my text alert sound. Thanks Brain Scoop!
YES THANK YOU
I feel like every high school has a teacher like Jim; they’re so dorky you’re almost embarrassed by them, but everyone loves them anyway because they’re so excited about what they teach.
The outfits for this are just incredible. 😂
That's like the coolest presentation on rocks ever!
What a great educational and fun video!!!
Now do one on woods that glow under UV!
No joke, some woods also glow under UV.
I'm on mobile so I can't link, but search "Peter Brown blacklight", should get the correct result.
So do scorpions
*falls down rabbit hole of looking up glowing wood*
Black Locust Wood iirc
I have seen glowing branches in my forest and it’s super cool.
Peter Brown rules
this is so adorable! I love having Jim and the rocks :>
I watched this in the dark and I'm so glad I did, WHAT A FUN VIDEO! :D
I see The Brain Scoop is making boulder choices. This episode was gniess. I won't take it for granite!
Emily, you and everyone you work with are clearly huge nerds, and I love that!
I wish everyone could be this excited to learn science stuff!
Never stop being this dorky.... You're amazing! I giggled so hard.... And then a listened to smart!
Awesomely vibrant hand-written signs. Well Done production.

This is one of my favorite channels. I always get so hyped when I see a new video
Emily is science bae. I love her so much and her content. Her enthusiasm to science is so perfect.
This channel reminds me that proffesional scientists and researchers are still nerds and dorks, and I think that's beautiful.
Omg... UltraVIOLET and InfraRED... all my years of science and I never got that until now... you just blew my mind!
I LOVE this guy. He's smart and doesn't take himself too seriously. I so would have loved to have him teach my high school science class. Am I right?
Did you leave the replays so long because it's tremendously funny to hear people taaaaalk in slooooow moooo? If so, thanks. It's silly and I love it.
I'm working toward a geology degree right now and I sometimes lose focus. Your videos always remind me why I want to be a scientist. Thank you.
This was a great video Emily. There is so much energy from the both of you! I think that is what makes this a great video, aside from the awesome fluorescent minerals of course! I enjoy all of your videos, don't get me wrong.
I like the style of the video with the poster boards. Another great video Emily!
I came for the glowing rocks, stayed for the slowmo amazed voices
Love how you let the slow-mo shots carry out so we can hear your demon voices saying "woooow". :)
This got me excited. Good job guys! I think this schools need to do this experiment with their kids. It would be engaging and fun.
It would be cool to see a video about Bees, if anyone at the museum specialises in that sort of thing ^_^
I second this! We need more bees! (literally, many species are endangered)
its not exactly all about bees, but Emily made a video about all sorts of insects and the homes they live in that was really really cool ruclips.net/video/u3zoZ_1fcVA/видео.html

UH Jim is a FANTASTIC cohost/interviewee XD I wanna see more Jim episodes! Jim Rocks! (badum tssh)
You friggin dorks, I loved the dance party 😂😂😂
Lol Emily you are so adorkable! Don't ever change!
I always forget how cool rocks and minerals are, thanks for reminding me!!
This. Is. BRILLIANT. It rocks. My mind is glowing.
There is (was?) a part of the Royal Ontario Museum's rock and mineral display that was lit just with uv light! I saw it a few years ago, and couldn't believe I'd never seen anything like it before. It's neat to now see the science behind the 'rock rave'.
What a great episode! Rocks are awesome!
Slo mo Emily wows are my new favourite thing!
I'm cry laughing at those parts, it's so adorable and funny :'D
I DID IT! It took me a while, but I watched every episode in order (except the two that are copyright blocked and the 4 hour beaver dissection). I can't wait for more episodes!
Bless these nerds!! Such a fun video! Thank you!
This may be the greatest video ever.
Absolutely not
Love the slo-mo voices during the 1/2 speed!
I NEED A GLOW ROCKS SHIRT TO GO WITH MY DEATH ROCKS SHIRT!!! Pleeeeaaassseeee? :)
Yeeessssssss, that would be amazing!
That'd be awesome! My girlfriend wants a glow rocks (or electron dance party) shirt to wear when I wear my DëTh RoCKS shirt. :)
Fascinating. I learned something new today. Thank you.
This is amazing! I've been waing for this video since you teased it on twitter.
Thank You so much for this great video Emily! Me and my friends watched it at lunch and my friends thought it was awesome. Please keep making these fun videos for Children. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

That intro cracked me up so hard :D
Just hanging out, hanging out, hanging out with the family...

I love this show!!! Keep it up Emily!!!
It's fun that there are some creatures see the world this way or even ways we can't even imagine.

I'm totally diggin' the slo-mo voices. :D
I have to say, I love the dinosaur stomach growling noises on the half-speed bits. :-)
Yay, another rock video! This was amazing!!
Omg! I love the mineral videos! More rocks!
Loved this!!! You should do a crash course Geology thing with The Field Museum geology group....aka MORE of this!
8 minutes of shiny rocks.. I think I'm in heaven.
Aaah this was fantastic! Loved it
This is the dorkiest thing I love it xD Especially the 1/2 speed audio that sounds like nerdy demons.
Informative and fun. Thanks Emily.
This is so cute omg what. what a fun AND informative video!
This was an amazing video ! Great idea!
I live in a super small city in the Canadian prairies and we actually had an exhibit just like this in our tiny museum. It was a small darkroom with a bunch of glowing minerals. Super cool. Probably the only thing I remember from our lame ass museum.
This is probably the best thing I’ve seen today! This rocks!😆
That was an awesome and super fun video!
Little kid me is losing my mind. (So is grown up me but I've learned composure since then)
I really appreciate the slowed down voices (and rocks!)
Yay for Earth Science content!!! :D Love from the University of Waterloo!
Very fun. Thanks for sharing!
Looks like you had fun with ALL visual aspects of this video 😁🤘
Do you know where the willamite rock gets it's name from? I live in the Willamette Valley and wonder if there is any relation between the two.
The type locality is in Belgium and is named after King William I of the Netherlands.
Awesome vid! you rock girl! (I'll show myself out)
Oh Guys ! You really RocK ! Muajajajaja !!! Love your vids !
Considering you are both on ecstasy, the production quality is great!
Very interesting!! Thanks for posting!
Only BrainScoop can make dorky look awesome hahaha :D
Thanks for making Science cool.. Specially for the kids encouraging them to start a carrier
I laughed so hard at the slow motion "Wow!" 😄
This was so fun. Love how the editor left in the slo-mo reactions. I'm giggling so much
The voices sound hilarious in slowed down footage😂
My brother just moved to Chicago. I am sooo going to the Field Museum when I go visit him.
that was amazing! Thank you! Sooo cool
Did you have to put on sun cream when filming this video? ☀️
This video deserves greater ISO, P3 color, and 4K resolution. I feel I’m missing so much from what you can see live. 🤯
We filmed it using a Sony A7s camera to help with some of that! I noticed it's a LOT better when you watch it in the dark, especially towards the end when we're discussing phosphorescence.
You find those rocks in the Rave Cave.
Bravo on the camera work, filming in low light is tough!
Those look soo cool!
Wwwwoooooo00000OOOOWWWwww!!!! 😂
Love the video Emily!
Lol I feel like they left that second 1/2 speed shot on longer than needed so we could hear there slow voices longer haha
This just makes my day.
