Removing those magic pull tabs was arguably the most satisfying part of the whole teardown

It also cost $1,100 because it holds on the phone numbers you dont want to memorize, and you can text and call them whenever you want, it also has a few cameras, access to your social media apps, has a high quality screen that can sense more than just 1 of your fingers on it. and its crammed into a nice enclosure and will work almost perfectly every single day you will use it for years to come. I know apple has about 40% net profit, but they have bills and employees to pay, marketing to pursue and future endeavors you're investing in. quit being a bitch, 1,100 is honestly not that bad for 2018 high end technology

If anyone should tear down their price, it's Samsung. They get Android for free (unlike Apple, who has to spend billions in R&D to develop iOS), and they still sell their devices in the same price range as iPhones. I'm pretty sure that if you factor in R&D, Apple's profit margins per device are probably smaller than Samsung's.
@@Armoterra I do agree that Samsung severely overpriced their phones, just like apple, but no, Samsung makes roughly the same amount of money per phone as apple. Motorola has *slightly* cheaper phones at around 800$, but has other options ranging from 150-450, for your convenience

Samsung innovates and that is what takes million (not billions) to produce innovation, Apple just tweaks SoC to their needs and that is all they do, the rest is all outsourced, if if was for Apple R&D alone phones will still be 3.5" LCD screens with 32Gb of storage and 2 GB of RAM, you should thank Samsung for your Iphone, bigger screen, OLED, better cameras, improved IOS (adding android features to every new release), more RAM, more storage, bigger batteries.. all of that was paid by Samsung R&D, Apple just copy pasted it what they like, they did not got to a trillion dollars investing on research and development dude, get a grip on reality. They are the biggest liars and tech thieves that ever existed, they spend a lot of money on lawyers for that reason, unless researching what others are doing and developing a copy that looks like it was their idea is what R&D at Apple stands for, they are not spending any money on that department. They could not make a wireless charger even after a year of being announced... go figure their R&D.

No, Samsung has a considerably higher profit margin per device than Apple if *every* factor is considered.

@@hafi8121 ok let me explained this in a way that you might understand or it could go over your head batteries have a have a charge rate about 1 amp an hour. fast chargers typically go up to 2.5 amps an hour. this means that you are pumping 1.5 more amp into the battery that it can normally handle over time this "fast charging" damages the batter so it will not be able to keep it's charge for a long time. also it will not be able to provide it's peak power that is needed. Now imagine all the dead battery in no time if everyone had a fast charger.

iPhone's are great devices, if you upgrade every 3 or 4 years then its a good deal, but damn are they expensive, for example , the XS Max starts at $1100 but in a lot of regions they will go for 1500+ (for the base model), that's too high to be justifiable for the tech

Which would you prefer? Throttle and you phone doesn't die randomly or not throttle but it shuts off at 35%?
