    Appalling that they are trying to gain off someone else’s hard work on flip side shows what a good job dpf doctors are doing👌

    shocking undermining someone's hard work like that

    I agree ripping off someone else’s rep is low, wrong and potentially damaging to any business. However, as an established DPF cleaning business owner, I find some of the information out there also misleading, and that includes information on The DPF Doctor website. Specifically, a DPF is NOT self cleaning as claimed by the DPF doctor!! Any diagnostic tech worth his salt will know that a regeneration burns accumulated soot, leaving behind a small amount of residual ash. Over time an efficient DPF blocks up not with soot but with ash. And can be cleaned successfully. Information is paramount, but please let’s ensure it’s correct. You guys can have that for free, I hope you correct your website 👍🏻

      Ash cannot be cleaned on vehicle by any method or chemical. Removal and back flushing under pressure is the normal method for this. A fully functional dpf on a well maintained, correctly running vehicle is perfectly capable of taking care of the soot produced in the combustion process. Ash content is negligible over the normal lifetime of a DPF, only becoming an issue at end of life or when oil is burned or the combustion process breaks down. Nowhere on the website or information put out by the DPF Doctor Network is it claimed that the techniques or products used clean or reduce actual Ash content in any way. Hope this helps clarify. 👍

      I forgot to add that I appreciate you taking the time to comment and put your point forward, civil discussion can only make for greater awareness and improve our skill levels, understanding and the publics perception of us as an industry.
      After all, what is the regeneration process if not a method to "clean" the filter and reduce the stored soot particles to a less harmful size and composition. Many thanks 👍

      @@SimplyDiagnostics Absolutely I’m all for increasing knowledge and awareness, particularly around topics that are generally misunderstood by the general public and even seasoned mechanics. You are 100% correct in that ash can only be removed from a DPF by it being washed under pressure in a machine specifically designed for this purpose, like mine, which measures flow and back pressure. However I reiterate that a DPF is NOT capable of self cleaning as claimed by the DPF doctor on their website. Regeneration is a process to burn soot which by nature leaves residual ash. This ash collects in the DPF and over time reduces the capacity for soot to collect and reduces the effectiveness of regeneration. So by definition the filter is not being cleaned, being ‘cleaned’ would imply that all contamination was removed through the process of regeneration. I have seen compacted ash being removed from Dpf’s in the form if pellets or needles. Ash accumulation is far greater than people realise, for many differing reasons. The life cycle of a DPF is affected by too many variables to list here. I am not in any way being critical of the DPF doctor group, but as an engineer who deals with specifics and data, I like to keep things exact. Kind Regards to all

      I think we'll have to agree to disagree on the semantics here, in my opinion, over the thousands of cars I've seen and diagnosed I can honestly say that real world ash ( not calculated ash quantities) is a neglible factor in the normal life cycle of a well maintained DPF equipped vehicle.
      As for the term "clean", if I mop my floor and 99% of dirt and bacteria is removed, have I not "cleaned" my floor because of the remaining 1%? Cheers.

      @philipwhyte3872 3 года назад

      @@SimplyDiagnostics With respect your comparison of cleaning your floor is pointless, would you burn the carbon off your oven, let it fall to the bottom and claim that you have cleaned it? If we are going to treat DPFs seriously then let’s keep things very specific and use accurate content. For diagnostic purposes it’s imperative that people understand how a DPF operates. It is 100% a serviceable item that is not capable of cleaning itself. Regeneration is only part of the process. DPF’s on cars aren’t fully representative, light and heavy commercial vehicles better demonstrate things as they cover much greater mileage, as diesels are designed for. Ash accumulation is considerably greater than a ‘lifetime’ period and the vast majority of DPF’s that we clean are blocked with ash and soot, overwhelmingly ash, and most probably because regenerations successfully remove the soot. I’ll go as far as to offer to post videos of DPF’s being cleaned where the contamination is clearly ash. The knowledge of what we remove is critical information and is fed back to technicians to further treat faults with vehicles. Anyone person, or company that puts themselves in the position of being knowledgable or expert in a specific field should ensure that they know their facts. And that is the original point that I made. I’m always happy to share information and help anyone, no hard feelings
