Thank you for your video, few years after and this information is still relevant. I bought the diaphgram initially and wondered why it didnt work with my raintank. Now i ordered the correct one, will try it once it arrive next week. Regards from Melaka, Malaysia.
Ball valve is better because it opens and shuts slower thus the water control is more gradual the diaphram valve snaps open and shut givng a sudden blast of water which can cause leakages or blow offs further down the system. More expensive but less problems. Usually there is no identification as to which type is on sale which makes selection very difficult.
Hello.. Thank you very much for the video. I would love to know which of the two is most reliable to be used on tap connected to 1.5 Bar water pump. The water out will be for lawn sprinkler.
@@CDOKayakClub hi there, thanks for replying me. Yes, it's battery powered like yours in the video. I didn't buy it yet, but my plan is to power the device using a 3V power source (wired) and I think in putting a switch so in raining days I could switch off the device All that because I consider to install the device a bit far so I thought about control the device remotely instead of manually Regards from Brazil
@CDOKayakClub, Can you confirm which type is better for water that may contain fine sand particles ? I presume ball type is better. Or are both the same ?
I found the product on temu. Is this device still working for you? I cant find many devices with ball valve, almost all are available with diafragm. Thanks in advance!
Can i use it for drip irrigation at my terrace gardening and if i go outside for 1 week will it give water to plants time to time ? Can i set timer on this knob one?? Pls reply
Spent and wasted money on smart (wifi) controlled irrigation valve. Ended up it wont work for my rain water tank. Only managed to found out why and what’s wrong after viewing your video😅 Anyway thanks for the sharing. Great comparison
I just return from overseas. Majority of my marcoted plants survived for about 8 months while I was away, thanks to my tank and the ball-valve timer switch.
@@CDOKayakClub great to know that. I have a rainwater tank and would prefer to utilise the source from the rainwater tank although I can just use the newly bought “smart” irrigation valve with the usual water tap. Soooo.. thanks to your video and i decided to get a ball valve type. Ha ha. Finger crossed 🤞 gonna wait another 2 weeks for it to reach me.
It depends on how long and how often you set the timer. My settings are 30 minutes/day. I use an alkaline battery. And that's still running in 6 months.

Bought the blue one thinking it could only be used with pressure after not being able to find a gravity fed automatic valve, glad I bought it 👌
Good on you.
Gracias por la demostración. Saludos de Chile 🇨🇱

No problems. Just trying to share.
Thanks for sharing. Where can I buy the ball value type timer
In Australia, you can buy at Bunnings. Maybe you can buy from eBay. Just specify Ball Valve type.

Just an opinion; if the source has pressure like typical house faucet, then I would suggest using the Diaphragm type.
Very useful video 👏
Thanks. Just sharing a positive experience.
Great info, thanks!
Just sharing what I learned.
Thanks for help me!

One question please. Can I leave the device fixed in "on" and power it when I want the water to flow and unpower it to shut off the water?
I'm not sure if that kind of device is available. I use a battery powered device. You are describing a none battery powered device.

Just try your idea. If it works then so much better.

Sorry, I have no experience with the subject you're asking. Perhaps the ball valve is better?

I replaced the Aqualin brand with a Holman brand from bunnings.com.au. the holman is still working, I replaced the battery last February 2024.
Can i use it for drip irrigation at my terrace gardening and if i go outside for 1 week will it give water to plants time to time ? Can i set timer on this knob one?? Pls reply
Yes, you can set the timer on both. Don't forget to put a battery.
Thx

@@CDOKayakClub thanks exactly what I found in the sellers description
@@CDOKayakClub i hv another question. How many day it takes your ibc tote for watering specifying the space you have. Thank you again
With my settings at 30min/day, that would last for at least 2 weeks without rain.
@@CDOKayakClub Thankyou Friend, how much space do you water, in m2 with the ibc tote
Thax lot
You're welcome
Bought the green one and it didn’t worked
Diaphragm type definitely won't work on zero or low pressure water source.
I did not know and wasted money on an orbit timer
I'm happy this video helps.
